Mega Alakazam hazard stacking team
Hi, I'm a pretty young player who started playing competitively around 2 years ago and I would really appreciate if you could give me some help! thank you!
Introduction:
I decided to build a team around Mega Alakazam because it's one of my favourite megas and it's a very powerful pokemon, with great Speed and Special attack. I think hazard stacking works really well with Mega Alakazam because it wears your opponent's team down which makes sure Alakazam gets some important KOs. I also knew i would want some powerful wallbreakers, so that Mega Alakazam could sweep more easily.
The team:
The members:
Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk 252 spd 4 def
Timid nature
IVs: 0 attack
-Psychic
-Focus Blast
-Shadow Ball
-Calm Mind
This is the star of the team. It functions as a revenge killer and a late game sweeper. It has enourmous power and speed and very good coverage. It can actually outspeed scarf pokemon such as Adamant Landorus-T, Chandelure, Heatran, Magnezone and Tyranitar. Psychic is a STAB attack which hits really hard, especially in physically defensive pokemon, Focus blast is very good against Ferrothorn, Heatran, Magnezone, Tyranitar, Weavile and even Bisharp on the switch (even though its accuracy is a pain in the ass). Calm Mind is very good in late game, +1 shadow ball OHKOs Mega metagross, latios and latias after rocks and +1 psychic OHKOs Mega Manectric, Rotom-W after rocks and a lot of other pokemon. Trace is very useful. For exemple, if you trace landorus' intimidate, you can survive every attack, if you trace heatran's flash fire or Volcanion's water absorb, you can get a free calm mind and if you trace Magnet pull from Magnezone, you can trap it and kill it with Focus Blast. Overall, Mega alakazam is very good at cleaning in late game when the mons are weaken. Unfortunately, Mega Alakazam struggles with priority users, Choice Scarf users, or extremely bulky pokemon, so i tried to cover these weaknesses.
Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
Evs: 252 Sp.atk 252 spd 4 def
Timid nature
IVs: 0 atk
-Secret Sword
-Hydro Pump
-Scald
-Icy wind
Keldeo has very good synergy with Alakazam. It kills Weavile, Bisharp, Heatran, Mega Sableye that Mega alakazam struggles with, because of its inaccurate Focus Blast and in the other hand, Mega Alakazam can eliminate Mega Venusaur, Rotom-W and Amoonguss. I chose keldeo because of its synergy and because of its wallbreaking potential, which can help Mega Alakazam. Secret Sword and Hydro Pump are there for wallbreaking purposes and Hydro Pump can even 2HKO Pokmeon that are supposed to check Keldeo such as Clefable and Mew after rocks. Scald is there for burns and because it doesn't miss and has pretty good power. Icy wind is very helpful against the lati twins, as it 2HKOs Latios and Latias (after rocks) on the switch and KOs tank chomp and Dragonite most of the time.
Landorus-T @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
Evs: 252 atk 252 spd 4 def
Jolly Nature
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-U-turn
-Knock Off
Landorus-T is another wallbreaker for my team. The choice scarf really helps me against other fast pokemon such as Mega Metagross, Tornadus-T, Thundurus, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Charizard X, Talonflame, Zapdos and Starmie (Knock Off OHKOs Offensive Starmie). EQ is a very strong STAB move that hits really hard, Stone Edge is there for Thundurus, Tornadus-T, MegaZard Y and others... U-turn gives me momentum and can be useful against Serperior and Mega Alakazam. Knock Off is good when I know he's going to switch out or when I want to kill Starmie, Latios and Gengar and my opponent doesn't expect the scarf. This also gives me a chance against Mega Medicham.
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Evs: 248 HP 196 Sp.Def 68 spd
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 atk
-Stealth Rock
-Lava Plume
-Taunt
-Toxic
Heatran is my special Wall and rocker. I realized i was very weak to Talonflame, Mega Scizor, Clefable and lati twins. The 68 speed Evs are there to outspeed Mega Venusaur and Suicune and cripple them with taunt. Lava Plume is a stab move that has a 30% chance to burn, which is useful against a lot of pokemon, such as Mega Sableye. This is also my answer to Mega Charizard X and Y, Talonflame, Klefki, Celebi, Mew, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Manectric and even Tornadus-T, so i run Toxic to cripple these pokemon or other pokemon like Keldeo or Landorus-T on the switch. With Heatran, Clefable cannot touch me at all.
Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
Evs: 248 HP 252 Def 8 spd
Bold Nature
Ivs: 0 atk
-Spikes
-Roost
-Whirlwind
-Toxic
This is my Physical Wall and another member of my hazard core. Spikes hurt the opponent's pokemon alongside stealth rocks, roost to recover HP, Whirwind for set up sweepers like Mega Scizor, Mega Pinsir, a big threat to my team, Bisharp and BD Azumarill and Toxic to cripple and do some damage to the pokemon Skarmory checks, such as landorus-T, Mega Pinsir, Azumarill, Tyranitar, mega Lopunny, Weavile, Dragonite and Mega Charizard X and Y on the switch. The only physical attackers that can face Skarmory are Fire types and Mega Medicham. I use Rocky Helmet to punish physical attackers like Mega Metagross and Jirachi and stall them out with Roost.
Dragalge @ Black Sludge
Ability: Adaptability
Evs: 224 HP 252 Sp.atk 32 spd
Modest Nature
Ivs: 0 atk
-Draco Meteor
-Sludge Wave
-HP Fire
-Toxic Spikes
This is the final member of my core. I chose Dragalge not only because of its Toxic Spikes, but also because it's a very good switchin for Keldeo and Rotom-W, two big problems for my team. This is also a very good response to Mega Venusaur, Clefable, Mega Manectric, Thundurus, Gengar and Mega Charizard Y because of its decente bulk, good typing and passive recovery with Black Sludge. Draco Meteor is super powerful and it even does 50% to Metagross or Excadrill and even more to Bisharp that tends to come in on a Draco Meteor. Sludge Wave hits very hard as well in fairy and grass types, which gives me another answer to Tangrowth, Celebi, Sylveon and Clefable. HP Fire is there because it 2HKOs Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor and sometimes it OHKOs regular Scizor.
The threats:
Bulky water pokemon such as Slowbro, Alomomola, Quagsire are a pain in the ass for my team, because I don't have any electric or grass type pokemon, so i need to rely on Dragalge and Keldeo to beat them.
Mega Diancie: My only answer is my scarfed Landorus-T but they tend to have protect to scout, my Mega Alakazam also does Massive damage to it but it can kill my heatran with Earth Power and my Skarmory doesn't do anything against it, so, Mega Diancie is a huge problem.
Starmie: The offensive set gets a kill when it enters. Normally, the opponents tend to start with the Starmie and i usually OHKO it with Landorus-T Knock Off or Mega Alakazam's Shadow ball but otherwise it's very hard to beat.
Amoonguss: The problem with Amoonguss is that i don't have any Spore immunity, so he always puts one of my mons to sleep and the regenerator is very annoying too.
Manaphy: When it sets up a tail glow, i always have to sacrífice a pokemon to kill it, which makes me want to use Tangrowth instead of Dragalge.
Stealth Rock: Because i don't have hazard control, stealth rock wears my team down a lot.
Mega Medicham: It's not hard to kill but it's very hard to switch into a High Jump Kick. Try to play some mind games between Skarmory and landorus-T.
Conclusion:
Well, that's the team, i hope you enjoyed this RMT, I really appreciate any help you could give me!
PS: Sorry for any english mistakes :)
