Mandibuzz

Mandibuzz probably will only see the light of day in uu play as it is just a honchrow from the 80's trying to make a comeback. Though mandibuzz's 110 / 105 / 95 defense's are nothing to scoff at it just can't pack a punch with 65 / 55 / 80 offensive stats. It does get a gift from overcoat as abamasnow snow warning will not be able to wear it down. Another usefull tool mandibuzz gets is bone rush, which allows it to hit magneton who resits both of mandibuzz's STAB moves. Bone Rush also allows it to hit hard even with its pitiful 65 attack ranging from 200 to 500 damage. Even with this mentioned mandibuzz has to ruin it with no way of getting an attack boost aside from psych up. Even though mandibuzz has these hinderances it has acsess to one of the most useful moves in the game: Nasty Plot.

Name@ Nasty Bird
Ability@ Weak Armor
Item@ Life Orb
Nature@ Lonely
Moves@ Nasty Plot / Dark Pulse / Air Slash / Bone Rush
EVs@ 252 atk / 252 spa / 4 spd

This is Mandibuzz's only set pretty much as NP is its only booosting move outside of psych up and the only other special dark move it learns is snarl which has a pitiful 55 bp. Brave Bird can be used over Air Slash as it will make use of the 128 attack evs but it will only make it die faster. For Bone Rush hp ground or hp fighting can replace it.

Name@ Bulky Vulture
Ability@ Over Coat
Item@ Leftovers
Nature@ Calm
Moves@ Roost / Air Slash / Dark Pulse / U-Turn
EVs@ 4 atk / 126 def / 252 spa / 126 spd

I'm not sure if this EV spread is legel so correct me if it isn't. This set takes advantage of mandibuzz's 110 / 105 / 95 defenses while also using roost as a form of instant recovery. Though there are many disadvantages to this set but if played correctly it can be potent. The only counters from generation 5 I can think of right off the bat are the three elemental monkeys and their focus blasts on the roost. Simisage probably won't stay in fearing the flying move but the rest of the monkeys will.

This is my first post so I hope it is a good one but if it isn't then I hope I learn from my mistakes. Please criticize me to the fullest extent I need it.

Bone Rush attacks 2-5 times a turn, with 25 BP each hit. Bone Rush's power only goes up to 125, and minimum is 25.

Sorry I didn't clear it up but I meant with the 4x boost against a magneton as I was talking about in the previous sentence. I should have included that sorry about the confusion. But now that I look back at it the maxium should be 625 instead of 500.

Is that a compliment? If it is thank you. If it means that I posted it in the wrong place then thank you for telling me. If you mean I should post this mandibuzz set to the mandibuzz discussion then I will.

Mandibuzz is just too weak to run 3 offensive moves on a defensive set. This may be a better alternative:
-Toxic
-Roost
-Brave Bird/Punishment
-Whirlwind
Nature: Careful/Impish
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SpD
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat

Sure, it's stopped by Steels, but that's what you have other Pokemon for.

On the NP set, i think it would be best for it to go with Taunt/NP/Roost/Dark Pulse. Taunt pretty much shuts stall off while stopping some pokes from doing somethig "nasty". Dark Pulse is fine as the only attack.

If only it learned Calm Mind...

That's the only way to go offensive. Otherwise, abuse Whirlwind. Played pretty much like Skarmory, but that can't set any hazards up.

I found this to work really well.
EVs: 248HP/96DEF/164SPDEF
Nature: Impish
Moveset:
-Brave Bird
-Knock Off/Toxic
-Roost
-Whirlwind

Comments: 248HP makes Stealth Rock do less damage. I invested 164SP DEF evs so that it escapes death from a Specs Timid Jolteon and an Ice Beam from Nidoking does max 50%. I invested rest into Defense because this thing makes a great physical wall.

I'm still not sure why one would use this over Murkrow, and I don't even see any Murkrow getting used. Priority Roost / Toxic and Featherdance? yes please

I presume a base 120 Attack.

Essentially, assuming no investment, this allows it to do roughly the same damage as a base 92.5 pokemon with no investment using a 90 BP move. It's not great, but it's better than nothing.

Murkrow's bulk after Eviolite does not compare at all to Mandibuzz's bulk. Mandibuzz has base 110hp, 105def, 95spdef. Murkrow has base 60hp, and 87 defenses (after eviolite) and don't forget to mention it doesn't get Leftovers recovery.

Prankster isn't meant for all Pokemon and doesn't automatically grant Murkrow superiority over Mandibuzz. Mandibuzz has holy bulk tanking Choice Banded Adamant Stone Edges from Flygon at 50%, I can never see Murkrow doing that. This is of course because Murkrow isn't designed to tank it. Mandibuzz and Murkrow have different functionalities. Mandibuzz is meant to wall and Murkrow is to stall. You can't compare the two.

Perhaps you meant Jolly Flygon?

252 Neutral CB Flygon Stone Edge vs 252 HP/252 Def +Def Mandibuzz: 45.28% - 53.3%

In comparison

252 Neutral -1 Flygon Stone Edge vs 4 HP/252 Def Eviolite Neutral Murkrow: 40.46% - 48.09%

Takes the Hit better even without complete investment. Priority Roost it off next turn and repeat.

Mandibuzz obviously makes the safer switch-in, but Flygon can't come into Murkrow at all, where if a Mandibuzz isn't 252/252+, it gets slaughtered.

Murkrow could learn Brave Bird if you really wanted it to, and the sad thing is that it would actually be a lot stronger than Mandibuzz's.

Some advantages of Mandibuzz include Leftovers recovery (even in Sand/Hail thanks to Overcoat) and much higher natural bulk. Of course, Murkrow has priority Featherdance (among other things) which tends to more than make up for its lower physical bulk.

This bird works really nicely with Dustproof on my UU Sand team, I use a Taunt/Brave Bird/Toxic/Roost set with max HP/max Defense.

I run a Toxic/ Whirlwind/ Knock Off/ Roost set with max HP, max Sp.Def, 4 Def Impish natured Mandibuzz, and it works extremely well at walling and phazing. Never having its lefties negated by weather is great, and it's a great counter to Smash Pass considering you switch before the opponent starts smash passing

Best. Chansey. Counter. Ever!

Just use Kock Off/Roost/Whirlwhind and you're pretty much gonna to remove every Chansey's Eviolite (you can use Sub/Taunt if you're afraid of status), she doesn't mind paralisis too much, and having overcoat really makes useful in Hail and Sand Teams

I found this to be a very effective stall set

Mandibuzz
EV`s: 248 Hp 8 Def 252 spD
nature: carefull
abillity: overcoat
whirlwind
roost
toxic
u turn

It takes for ever to kill this thing as it keeps making you switch so you only ever get one super effective attak in before it whirlwinds you out and roosts if the pokemon that comes in can´t ko it

Brave Bird > U-Turn. U-Turn is rather useless on Mandibuzz. Using Brave Bird lets it do decent damage
