[OVERVIEW]
Mamoswine possesses a very good offensive presence and offensive typing, with Ice and Ground being able to hit common Pokemon in the metagame such as Heatran, Bisharp, Landorus-T, Thundurus, and Amoonguss. Mamoswine also possesses a great Attack stat, though its mediocre Speed makes it reliant on speed control to unlock its full potential; nevertheless, Mamoswine's low Speed is somewhat mitigated by its access to a priority Ice-type move in the form of Ice Shard, which allows it to snipe common Pokemon that would otherwise outspeed it, such as Shaymin-S and Landorus-T. Mamoswine's typing, however, doesn't allow it to switch into many Pokemon and makes it weak to a lot of common types, such as Fighting, Water, and Fire. This allows Pokemon, such as Keldeo, Terrakion, and Mega Charizard Y to check it; it is also completely walled by Rotom-W and Rotom-H. Mamoswine, however, is one of the best checks to Thundurus and Landorus-T. As an Ice-type, Mamoswine faces competition from Kyurem-B, which offers the same coverage moves but can hit Rotom-W and Rotom-H for super effective damage. As a Ground-type Choice Scarf user, Mamoswine faces competition from Landorus-T, which possesses more noteworthy attributes and better overall support to its teammates, such as Intimidate and a better typing. Mamoswine, however, can hit Grass-types for super effective damage, notably Amoonguss, and does not make the rest of the team susceptible to Bisharp. Landorus-T is usually the better pick unless the team has trouble with bulky Grass-types or Defiant users.

Moves
========
Mamoswine has two Ice-type STAB moves at its disposal. Icicle Crash is a strong, reliable Ice-type STAB move that hits single targets hard, such as Amoonguss. Icicle Spear, while not as reliable as Icicle Crash, allows Mamoswine to break Focus Sashes on Pokemon such as Breloom. Earthquake is a Ground-type STAB move that has great synergy with Mamoswine's Ice-type STAB options by giving it the ability to hit Fire- and Steel-types super effectively. Rock Slide allows Mamoswine to hit Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and Talonflame super effectively, while Stone Edge is a stronger alternative Rock-type coverage move that cannot be blocked by Wide Guard, users of which these targets are frequently paired with. Ice Shard allows Mamoswine to snipe opposing weakened Pokemon. It can also be used as a means to prepare against Trick Room, as Mamoswine is dead weight under it. Superpower allows Mamoswine to hit Ferrothorn, Kyurem-B, and Mega Kangaskhan super effectively. Keep in mind, however, that Ferrothorn and Mega Kangaskhan need a bit of prior damage in order for Superpower to KO them, as both can OHKO Mamoswine.
Set Details
========
Mamoswine's bulk isn't the best, so there really isn't a need to invest in it. A Jolly nature is preferred with Choice Scarf because it allows Mamoswine to outrun maximum Speed Adamant Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Thick Fat is the preferred ability because it can allow Mamoswine to tank weaker Fire-type moves, such as allowing it to survive a Fire Blast from Modest Life Orb Hydreigon.
Usage Tips
========
It isn't recommended to switch Mamoswine into attacks due to its frailty and horrible defensive typing. Mamoswine, however, can switch into weaker spread moves such as Rock Slide. Ice Shard allows Mamoswine to snipe certain threats, such as Shaymin-S or weakened Pokemon, although it generally isn't the best move to be locked into. Mamoswine should only lock itself into Ice Shard when it needs to snipe an opposing fast threat, such as Deoxys-A, with reliable accuracy. Mamoswine is a bit hard to switch in, but it is also really hard to force out. In that sense, it is best to set the field in favorable conditions for Mamoswine, such as by baiting in Pokemon that can't beat Mamoswine, having a good support partner, or setting up speed control, so that it can pressure the opponent's team.
Team Options
========
Mega Charizard Y is a great teammate for Mamoswine, as it has near-perfect synergy with it, resisting all of Mamoswine's weaknesses except for Water-type attacks, which are weakened under Drought anyway. Mega Charizard Y greatly appreciates Mamoswine's ability to remove Heatran, opposing Electric- and Rock-types, and Dragon-types that resist Mega Charizard Y's attacks. Mega Charizard Y, in turn, checks Rotom-W and Keldeo. Between Heat Wave and Earthquake, the opponent will not have many Pokemon to switch in. Electric-types are good partners for Mamoswine, as they are able to check bulky Water-types that Mamoswine has trouble beating. Mamoswine, in turn, checks Landorus-T and bulky Grass-types that most Electric-types have trouble against. Talonflame is a more offensive Pokemon with access to speed control; it checks Steel-types that threaten Mamoswine while Mamoswine can check Heatran and opposing Rock-types. Both of them, however, are walled heavily by Rotom-W and Rotom-H. Aegislash checks Terrakion and Mega Metagross, both of which are huge threats to Mamoswine, and has access to Wide Guard to protect itself from Mamoswine's Earthquake. Mamoswine, in turn, can check Pokemon that threaten Aegislash, such as Bisharp, Heatran, and Landorus-T. Cresselia not only is immune to Earthquake but also greatly benefits from Mamoswine's ability to remove Steel-types that threaten it, such as Aegislash and Bisharp. Mamoswine is also great against common sleep inducers, such as Amoonguss and Breloom, which can give Cresselia more opportunities to set up with Calm Mind. Partners that can beat Rotom-W are greatly appreciated by Mamoswine. Venusaur, a common Pokemon on sun teams, can help in that sense while also providing coverage against bulky Water-types. Latios resists both of Rotom-W's STAB attacks and can threaten it out with a Draco Meteor; Psyshock also helps to cover Mamoswine's Fighting-type weakness.

Moves
========
Ice Shard can help mitigate Mamoswine's low Speed by allowing it to snipe faster threats to it, such as Shaymin-S. Ice Shard also does pretty decent damage towards Landorus-T. Earthquake is a Ground-type STAB move that has great synergy with Mamoswine's Ice-type STAB options by giving Mamoswine the ability to hit Fire- and Steel-types super effectively. Icicle Crash can be used should Mamoswine want a more reliable Ice-type STAB move. Icicle Spear is another option, as it allows Mamoswine to break opposing Focus Sash users, such as Breloom. Superpower allows Mamoswine to hit Ferrothorn and Mega Kangaskhan super effectively. Protect allows Mamoswine to scout or guard it from a super effective hit that would most likely OHKO it due to its mediocre bulk.
Set Details
========
Mamoswine's bulk isn't the best, so there isn't a need to invest in it at all. Maximum Attack EVs with an Adamant nature ensure that Mamoswine has maximum damage output. Maximum Speed EVs allows Mamoswine to outrun Adamant Bisharp, Adamant Breloom, and 200 Speed Modest Heatran; however, a Jolly nature can be used to ensure that Mamoswine will outrun all Breloom and Heatran. Should Mamoswine choose to run Life Orb, 29 HP IVs optimize Mamoswine's HP for Life Orb. Thick Fat is the preferred ability because it can allow Mamoswine to tank Fire-type moves such as Fire Blast from Modest Life Orb Hydreigon. Focus Sash is preferred, as it can allow Mamoswine to tank a hit and OHKO a Pokemon that would normally threaten Life Orb Mamoswine, such as Terrakion or Mega Metagross. Life Orb, however, is an option because it further increases Mamoswine's damage output, such as allowing it to OHKO standard Amoonguss with Icicle Crash. Mamoswine also does not mind the Life Orb recoil, as its defenses are bad to begin with.
Usage Tips
========
Due to Mamoswine's low defenses and terrible defensive typing, it isn't recommended to switch it into attacks except for weaker spread attacks, such as Rock Slide. Speed control is greatly appreciated, as it can allow Mamoswine to utilize its good coverage options. Ice Shard should be used when Mamoswine is facing a frail, fast threat, such as Shaymin-S or Deoxys-A. Mamoswine is a bit hard to switch in, but is also really hard to force out. In that sense, it is best to set the field in favorable conditions for Mamoswine, such as by baiting in Pokemon that can't beat Mamoswine, having a good support partner, or setting up speed control, so that it can pressure your opponent's team.

Mega Charizard Y, in turn, checks Rotom-W and Keldeo. Between Heat Wave and Earthquake, the opponent will not have many Pokemon to switch in. Speed control users are generally great partners for Mamoswine. Togekiss can redirect Fighting- and Grass-type attacks aimed at Mamoswine while also providing crucial Tailwind support. Thundurus can provide needed Thunder Wave support and has Thunderbolt to hit bulky Water-types that Mamoswine has trouble hitting. Talonflame is a more offensive Pokemon with access to Tailwind. It checks Steel-types that threaten Mamoswine while Mamoswine can check Heatran and opposing Rock-types. Both of them, however, are walled heavily by Rotom-W and Rotom-H. Electric-types are good partners for Mamoswine, as they are able to check bulky Water-types that Mamoswine has trouble beating. Mamoswine, in turn, checks Landorus-T and bulky Grass-types that most Electric-types have trouble with. Mamoswine is also great against common sleep inducers, such as Amoonguss and Breloom, which can give Cresselia more opportunities to set up with Calm Mind. Pokemon that can beat bulky Water-types, namely Rotom-W, are great partners for Mamoswine. Venusaur, a common Pokemon on sun teams, can help in that sense while also providing coverage against Grass-types. Latios resists both of Rotom-W's STAB attacks and can threaten it out with Draco Meteor; Latios also can threaten Fighting-types with its Psychic-type STAB move.

Other Options
=============
A Choice Band can be used to maximize Mamoswine's damage output. Knock Off is an alternative support move that can allow Mamoswine to cripple defensive threats by removing their Sitrus Berry or Leftovers. Stealth Rock can cripple opposing Mega Charizard Y, Talonflame, and Focus Sash users.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Intimidate and Burns**: Intimidate users such as Scrafty and Gyarados can switch in, lower Mamoswine's Attack, and then force it out with their STAB options. Rotom-H can come in on any of Mamoswine's standard attacks and cripple it with Will-O-Wisp.
**Typing Advantage**: Mamoswine doesn't have the best defenses, so most super effective hits will more than likely OHKO it. Bulky Water-types, such as Suicune and Rotom-W, which Mamoswine can't touch at all, don't mind taking it a hit from Mamoswine and can force it out with their STAB options. Faster Fighting-types, such as Keldeo and Terrakion, can force Mamoswine out with Fighting-type STAB moves.
**Speed**: One of the best ways to beat Mamoswine is to make sure your Pokemon are faster than it so that they can take advantage of Mamoswine's terrible bulk and defensive typing and OHKO it before it can hit your Pokemon with its powerful STAB options. Priority moves such as Aqua Jet from Azumarill and Mach Punch from Breloom and Conkeldurr can deal massive damage to or OHKO Mamoswine. Deoxys-A can outspeed Choice Scarf Mamoswine and OHKO it with Superpower.
**Utility Moves**: Wide Guard from Pokemon such as Aegislash can completely stop Mamoswine in its tracks by stopping Earthquake. Fake Out can break Mamoswine's potential Focus Sash.
**Speed Control**: Tailwind can allow Pokemon that Mamoswine normally outspeeds to outspeed it and OHKO it instead, such as Breloom and Bisharp. The same can be said for Trick Room, which turns the fact that Mamoswine can outspeed those threats into a disadvantage.
