mamoswine team pls help

I love Mamoswine, so I tried to make a team with him. But I honestly didn't know what to pair him with except for Alolan Ninetales, so I just imported on a few mons that I thought were good from Smogon. I don't have that much experience with team building, so it would be really nice to get some feedback on what I should improve upon.

Mamoswine @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Thick Fat
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- High Horsepower
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Trailblaze

The star of the team. I'm using weakness policy as I think he'll be able to soak up some hits with aurora veil, snow, and thick fat. There's also trailblaze for boosting speed as Mamoswine isn't that fast

38-1.png

Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Encore
- Freeze-Dry
- Moonblast

The standard set from Smogon. Mainly here to just to assist Mamoswine and the rest of the team by setting up snow and aurora veil. It can also change the weather to stop swift swimmers and others from sweeping.

1000-0.png

Gholdengo @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Make It Rain
- Trick
- Focus Blast

Gholdengo is here for some speed control. It's able to catch some people off guard if they're not expecting choice scarf and can cripple defensive mons with trick. It can also block defogs from other Corvs trying to take away the screens.

199-1.png

Slowking-Galar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 120 SpA / 120 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Future Sight
- Sludge Bomb
- Flamethrower
- Surf

The defensive core of the team, able to just eat hits and then just heal up by switching out. The assault vest just adds even more bulk allowing it to soak up hits from even super effective hits.

812-0.png

Rillaboom @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Knock Off
- Grassy Glide
- U-turn

A great wall breaker dealing massive damage with priority grassy glide. It also provides some utility with recovery from grassy terrain.

Corviknight @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Brave Bird
- Defog
- U-turn
- Roost

Here to defog away any hazards that may be threatening our team. It can also take away an opponents screens if a Cinderace steals them or an opposing Ninetales sets them up. The rocky helmet lets it provide valuable chip on many physical attackers.

I've been having some trouble with Cinderace so it would be nice if anyone could suggest some counters, Thanks!

The team looks terrifyingly weak to gholdengo. Very cool idea. I would drop your own gholdengo for something to check gholdengo, like maybe, hmm... maybe cut slowking galar for tera water slowking with chilly reception to check gholdengo, and a weather ball moltres with 301 speed to outspeed gholdengo and hit it hard. so the moltres would be weather ball, flamethrower, will o wisp and roost, and the slowking would be tera water surf, chilly, future sight, and the fourth move is open perhaps, twave, yawn, slack off, ice beam, lots of good options.

Your Dengo can outspeed (or speed tie) other gholdengo with Scarf and can has a 50% chance of OHKO offensive Gholdengo without HP investment.
Great Tusk can counter Gholdengo assuming no Psychic or Tera Flying, remove hazards, be bulky under Veil, and set up Bulk up as a wincon. can also hit Cinderace, but WIll-o wisp can be a problem. You could also use Skeledirge, which can set up and hit gholdengo at the same time. It also walls CInderace.

Thanks! Do you have any recommendations on who I should swap for Great Tusk and Skeledirge?

Hey! I'm gonna add some stuff to what my fellow people above have already said. First of all, your team is indeed extremely weak to Gholdengo, Fire moves, Kingambit and Infiltrator Dragapult. You are slightly vulnerable to a potential Waterpon sweep as well, once your opponent has chipped your Rillaboom enough. So these are my suggestions to address the situation:

Big changes

:ninetales-alola: ---> :cinderace:
Let's completely replace Ninetales from the team. While the idea of pairing Veil with Weakness Policy is pretty cool, it requires too much work to actually make it function properly. Instead of wasting a slot on your team to force an inconsistent strategy, I think it's best to have a Utility mon to cover Mamoswine's weaknesses. Cinderace works perfectly as an Hazard-remover thanks to Court Change, and with its pure Fire-typing, access to Will-O-Wisp and U-turn to pivot into your teammates, it synergizes with Mamo wonderfully. Furthermore, Slowking-G's access to Chilly Reception is an already fantastic tech to exploit Mamoswine's Ice-typing, considering the Def boost it provides, and it's also much better for the overall team's momentum.

:cinderace:
Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Libero
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 224 HP / 32 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Court Change
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pyro Ball
- U-turn

This is a pretty standard set, so there's not much to add beyond what I've already said above.

:gholdengo: ---> :zapdos:
Gholdengo isn't a bad mon, but it's honestly not even worth running in your team. Not only do you not benefit anything from Good as Gold, since you don't have any Hazard-setter, but it's also one of the few instances where Dengo actually brings down your overall team's resistances, considering its weaknesses to Fire, Ghost, Ground and Dark (which do not complement Rillaboom's, Glowking's and Mamoswine's typing at all). For this reason, I've decided to run a solid Defensive and Utility option in Zapdos, which is able to deal pretty well with the likes of opposing Cinderace, Ogerpon, Samurott-H, opposing Rillaboom and Great Tusk. With Static, it also provides your team with the chance of paralyzing annoying foes, while its access to U-turn/Volt Switch improves your team's momentum even further.

:zapdos:
Zapdos @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 108 Def / 152 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hurricane
- Roost
- U-turn

This is also a very standard set for Zapdos. 152 Speed EVs allow you to outspeed Great Tusk and threaten it with a Hurricane, while the rest of the EVs are enough to make it pretty Physically bulky (and quite decent on the Special side as well).

:corviknight: ---> :kingambit:
When you are weak to Dengo, Pult and Kingambit, the best choice is to run your very own Kingambit in your team. Now that you have both Cinderace and Zapdos you have pretty much no need to run such a dedicated Physical Wall, and you can instead focus on your offensive threats. Kingambit, in particular, is perfect to exploit Mamoswine's potential breakthroughs in your opponent's team, sweeping on its own thanks to Sucker Punch and SD.

:kingambit:
Kingambit @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch

Once again, pretty standard set with Tera Flying to 1v1 Tusk and resist incoming Fighting moves, and double STAB with Kowtow Cleave + Iron Head.

Small changes

:mamoswine:
Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Icicle Crash
- High Horsepower
- Trailblaze
- Ice Shard

Since you're no longer running Ninetales-A, I've opted for a Life Orb set for Mamoswine to increase its damage output. The moves are identical to your set, same goes with the Tera, but considering the lack of Veil you should be more wary of your opponent's attacks and you should position your Mamoswine more carefully on the field through the use of your mons pivoting moves. Even without the potential +2 in its Atk, Life Orb Mamoswine still hits very hard and can threaten the KO against Zapdos, Cinderace, Great Tusk, Heatran, Ting-Lu and RIllaboom (if you Tera Grass to avoid Grassy Glide). Mamoswine also functions as a solid Revenge-Killer for Pult, Garchomp, Enamorus, Valiant and Ogerpon, thanks to its Life Orb's boosted Ice Shard.

:slowking-galar:
Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 240 HP / 16 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Future Sight
- Sludge Bomb
- Surf
- Chilly Reception

Instead of running AV, you should really be running the Chilly Reception + 3 moves set to exploit Mamoswine's Defense boost during Snow, as well as having a reliable way to pivot into the latter. Even without Assault Vest Glowking still functions as a fantastic Special Check to the many threats in the tier, and thanks to Regenerator its longevity during games is quite good. Besides Future Sight and Sludge Bomb as its main STAB moves, I've opted for Surf to exploit Glowking's Tera Water (which is by far the best Defensive Tera you can run on it), and also to hit and threaten opposing Heatran, Tusk and Iron Moth.

And that's it! I hope this RMT can be of any help to you, and hopefully you can have some fun on the ladder with Mamoswine!
