We dont have the option to make a custom game team

Custom Game has no restrictions, so you can just not specify an option and it'll be usable.

its possible to have custom game teams, through import:

or go into the teambuilder file and change the txt file's name to [gen8customgame]

however: it would be nice to have for QOL (though custom game's point is to be any format). also you cant select CG teams on challenges/tours

Err, you can - just use All Teams.

The intended use case is to have the format name be [gen8] (i.e. "Gen 8 uncategorized") for Custom Game teams.

We could definitely do better here; the Preact teambuilder makes everything a bit nicer to work with right now.
