Ubers Magnezone

[OVERVIEW]

Magnezone's niche in Ubers comes from Magnet Pull, which allows it to trap prominent Steel-types such as Necrozma-DM and Ferrothorn. This allows its hard-hitting teammates such as Galarian Darmanitan and Xerneas to break through teams more easily. Though it's good at its job, it still has very big flaws that make it difficult to use. Magnezone's low Speed and mediocre Special Defense mean that many common offensive Pokemon revenge kill it; Eternatus, Kyogre, and Calyrex-S are able to both offensively and defensively check Magnezone. Against teams using different defensive counterplay than Necrozma-DM to the sweepers Magnezone is partnered with, it can end up rather useless.

Iron Defense boosts Body Press's damage so that Magnezone is able to break through Necrozma-DM and Ferrothorn. Magnet Rise and Air Balloon allow it to pivot in on Earthquake from Necrozma-DM. Discharge can punish faster Pokemon switching in such as Eternatus with paralysis. Maximum Speed and Defense investment lets Magnezone outspeed most Necrozma-DM variants and maximizes Body Press damage.

With Magnezone removing Necrozma-DM and Ferrothorn, many offensive teammates are able to slice through the balance teams relying on them. Xerneas is able to clean up late-game and deal with Zygarde. Galarian Darmanitan's Icicle Crash becomes incredibly difficult to switch into for many teams without Necrozma-DM, and its U-turn gives Magnezone free entry into Steel-types. Eternatus appreciates being able to spread Toxic poison without having to worry about immune Steel-types, and it is often also the defensive backbone for the team. Zygarde also benefits from Ferrothorn being removed to get multiple Dragon Dance boosts and sweep late-game.

Thunder Wave can be used over Discharge to more easily spread paralysis, and Substitute can be used to block Leech Seed from Ferrothorn. However, they are not as effective due to Discharge's more consistent utility.

**Certain Steel-types**: Swords Dance variants of Necrozma-DM can potentially break through Magnezone due to being faster. Though rare, Zamazenta-C and Heatran both threaten Magnezone with their secondary STAB attacks for big damage. Magearna is also able to pivot out with Volt Switch.

**Physically Bulky Ground-types**: Zygarde ignores Magnet Rise and Air Balloon with Thousand Arrows and is able to match boosts with Dragon Dance or Coil. Faster variants of Groudon are able to revenge kill Magnezone even at +6.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Magnezone's mediocre Special Defense and Speed leave it vulnerable to strong special attackers such as Calyrex-S and Kyogre.

OK first note, these are not the EVs you should use. Go for a spread of 8 HP / 248 Def / 252 Speed with a timid nature. Paralysed Calyrex-S doesnt matter, just put all of the investment in speed to outspeed as many Necrozma-DM as possible, then 248 in defense to maximise body press damage.

Dont mention being forced out by Groudon or Xerneas in the overview. Firstly, with Magnet Rise and +6 Defense, most Groudon arent actually threatening you that much, and +6 Body Press is still 2HKOing it. Secondly Xerneas also doesnt hit Magnezone very hard, it will never OHKO (without Focus Blast) and Xerneas doesnt want to be weakened, nor risk the paralysis chance from Discharge. If you have to mention it being forced out, mention Calyrex-S and Kyogre, who actually will KO it.

The rest of the analysis itself reads awkwardly to me. Like, its not wrong information, I just dont think its relevent information either. In the overview, instead of pointing out that it gets revenge killed, I'd want something about how Magnezone is very matchup-dependant, and can be dead weight against teams if Necrozma-DM is not the only check to the various mons Magnezone is supporting, not to even touch on the really rough matchup against offense.

Similarly, I feel like the checks and counters system could be reworked with this in mind. I've brought it up to the other QC members, but I dont think that trying to list checks to a +6 Magnezone should be the goal of the C&C section here.

Fix these things and ping me on discord when you're done, I'll give it a once over and tell you a few more slight tweaks at the time then give you the stamp.

I would go ahead and just make the first item in Checks & Counters "Certain Steel-types", which is basically defensive Steels that Magnezone can't trap. After that can go Ground-types with high defense stats. Then basically everything else, since Magnezone pretty much loses to almost anything that isn't the specific targets it intends to trap.
