Moves
=========

Moonblast is a solid catch-all neutral attack that will put a sizable dent in most Pokemon. Thunderbolt allows Clefable to dent Toxapex and Celesteela while ensuring it doesn't thud against Heatran. Thunder can be used instead for the extra power and the paralysis chance to force more progress, but the lower accuracy causes plenty of wasted turns that often can't be afforded. Fire Blast hits the aforementioned Celesteela, Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, and Mega Mawile. Flamethrower can instead be used if accuracy is a concern, but the extra power allows it to turn some damage rolls into solid 2HKOs and OHKOs. Soft-Boiled keeps Clefable healthy in longer games, allowing it to do more throughout the game.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment with a Modest nature allows Clefable to both threaten KOs on offensive Pokemon with super effective moves and put pressure on common defensive mons such as Gastrodon, Toxapex, Mega Latias, Magearna, and opposing Clefable. 180 Speed EVs allow Clefable to get the jump on Adamant Mega Mawile and Azumarill as well as uninvested Mega Scizor. If these Pokemon are accounted for by Clefable's teammates, Clefable can drop some Speed in favor of bulk. Magic Guard allows Clefable to switch in more often and circumvents the Life Orb recoil.

Usage Tips
========

Due to its reduced bulk investment, Clefable is unable to switch into the likes of Mega-Lopunny Mega Lopunny and Landorus-T, among others (RC) so Life Orb Clefable's defensive duties are often relegated to sitting on defensive walls such as Gastrodon, Mega Latias, Clefable, Toxapex, and Mega Sableye (RC) etc. Notably, it still performs its role as a Toxic / and burn absorber very well. Against offensive teams, Clefable has limited opportunities to hit the field safely, so you can get the most use out of it by aggressively trading damage with the likes of Landorus-T and Tapu Koko. This way, Clefable can limit opposing setup sweepers like Mega Charizard X by doing too much damage for them it to set up freely.

Team Options
========

Due to Clefable's aforementioned frailty, it best serves as an offensive threat on balance teams. Checks to specially defensive Heatran, notably Gliscor and Gastrodon, greatly help. In addition to checking Heatran, Gliscor can sit on non-Swords Dance Landorus-T, while Gastrodon can check Ash-Greninja. Spikes are quite important for Life Orb Clefable teams to sharpen Clefable's wallbreaking power and counteract lower-longevity offensive teams. In terms of Spikes setters, Skarmory can deal with Excadrill and Kartana and cover for Clefable's reduced bulk investment by handling Mega Lopunny and certain Hawlucha sets, Ferrothorn can handle Mega Swampert's and Ash-Greninja's Water-type attacks, and Protean Greninja can help take on shared checks like Assault Vest Magearna and Heatran. Heatran can help pivot around dangerous opposing Fire-types like Victini and Mega Charizard Y and threaten to trap walls like Chansey with Magma Storm + Taunt. Choice Scarf Landorus-T can revenge kill fast threats like Mega Alakazam and Tapu Koko and bring opportunities to Clefable through U-turn.

Btw single sets dont have a strategy comments, the overview, other options, and checks and counters are counted as their own separate thing. I think checks and counters will be fine with proper specification, i might do defensive clef myself

anyway, starting on this qc now

Usage Tips

Due to its reduced bulk investment, Clefable is No longer unable they have a rule against referencing other sets and this technically references the defensive variants, maybe im tripping tho to switch into the likes of Mega-Lopunny and Landorus-T, among others, so Life Orb Clefable's defensive duties are often relegated to sitting on defensive walls such as Gastrodon, Mega Latias, Clefable, Toxapex, Mega Sableye, etc. hyphens Notably, it still performs its role as a toxic Toxic / burn absorber very well. Against offensive teams, Clefable functions more as a trader trader is hardly a coined term, would prob look better if you just described what it does as a trader instead (i.e, trading off damage/ko's with shit like lando, medi, koko) Able to threaten kills OHKOs on setup sweepers such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Pinsir, and Mega Mawile, as well as chunking other attackers like Tapu Lele, Tapu Koko, Mega Swampert, and Serperior, it is often able to neutralize a crucial threat.

Team Options

Checks to SpDef specially defensive Heatran, notably Gliscor and Gastrodon, greatly help. In addition to checking Heatran, Gliscor can sit on non-Swords Dance Landorus-T, while Gastrodon can check Ash-Greninja. Skarmory deals with Excadrill and Hawlucha while providing spikes setting Spikes and using its Rocky Helmet to wear down physical attackers that a bold Clef could better deal with, such as Mega Lopunny, Garchomp, Hawlucha, and Mega Swampert, covering for the defensive holes left by Clefable's offensive spread. Mega Latias can perform a similar role if a faster Pokemon is desired. the role that was just described was a spiker and RH user, prob better to elaborate more in this sentence Clefable can often nab a surprise hit on Ferrothorn, Celesteela, or Tapu Fini, so teammates that benefit from those being weakened can be desired. name some

Other Options
=============

Ice Beam can be used to hit Gliscor, but dropping another coverage move when it can be dealt with in other ways isn't ideal. Knock Off can potentially cripple an unsuspecting Chansey while still doing something versus Toxapex and Heatran. It should be noted that certain Calm Mind sets run Life Orb with heavy defense investment, but that more pertains to another set.
as i said in the comment single sets dont get their own strategy comments, but i'll work this into the other options when i get around to doing overview/oo/cc with utility clef

Add a sentence about Thunder being an option over Thunderbolt for the better Base Power and chance to paralyze (but dont forget to mention that the low accuracy makes Thunder a less reliable option than Thunderbolt).

Max Special Attack investment with a Modest nature allows Clefable to both threaten KOs on offensive Pokemon with super effective moves, as well as put pressure on common defensive mons such as Gastrodon, Toxapex, Calm Mind Mega Latias, Magearna, and opposing Clefable. 180 Speed EVs allow Clefable to get the jump on Adamant Mega Mawile and Azumarill, as well as uninvested Mega Scizor. Against offensive teams, Clefable has limited opportunities to hit the field safely, so you can get the most use out of it by aggressively trading damage with the likes of Landorus-T and Tapu Koko. It can also limit an opposing Pokemon’s ability to boost up this way. I get the idea but the sentence is very confusing. You can said instead that Clefable can trade against set up users pokemon, putting them at the range of a Revenge Killer or a Defensive Pokemon.
Add a sentence about Volt-Turn support to safely sent LO Clefable on the field.

Team Options

Due to Clefable's aforementioned frailty, it best serves as an offensive threat on balance and semi-stall teams. Checks to specially defensive Heatran, notably Gliscor and Gastrodon, greatly help. Mega Latias can check the same Pokemon, giving up the Spikes and Rocky Helmet in favor of a faster option. Clefable can often nab a surprise hit on Ferrothorn, Celesteela, or Tapu Fini, so teammates that benefit from those being weakened like Ash-Greninja or Tapu Lele can be desired.
Need to add:
-Volt-Turn Support: Landorus-T and Rotom-W are the big ones. Landorus-T provide Rocks, blank check most physical threats and pressure Heatran. Rotom-W checks Heatran.
-Spikes Support: It's mostly Ferrothorn and Protean Greninja. Ferrothorn likes the Dark-Resist of Clefable for the likes of Greninja, Protean Greninja can snipe Clefable's checks.
-Heatran because Fire-types are annoying for LO Clefable (and Heatran can pressure the likes of Chansey with Magma Storm + Taunt)
