Ability: Shadow Tag

IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt / Sludge Bomb
- Will-O-Wisp
- Substitute / Taunt

Mega Gengar is a potent special attacker in LGPE OU due to its superb Speed, Special Attack, and coverage that lets it threaten nearly every common Pokemon in the tier. Shadow Ball targets Mew and other staples such as Melmetal, Starmie, and Zapdos. Thunderbolt hits targets that resist or are immune to Shadow Ball such as Mega Gyarados, Alolan Muk, and Snorlax. Mega Gengar also has quite a few support options it can run to deter switch-ins, the most popular choices being Will-O-Wisp to neutralize physical attackers, Substitute to prevent it from being revenge killed by the likes of Mega Beedrill and Mega Alakazam, and Taunt to shut down walls such as Chansey and Mega Venusaur. Mega Gengar pairs well with other offensive Pokemon such as Dragonite and Melmetal, as they can help apply pressure to its checks such as Alolan Muk and Snorlax. Defensive pivots, Zapdos and Mew in particular, also work well when paired with Mega Gengar due to its fragility dissuading it from coming in on most neutral hits. Other defensive Pokemon such as Snorlax, Alolan Muk, and Melmetal can help deal with Pokemon such as Mega Beedrill, Mega Alakazam, and Mega Aerodactyl that can force Mega Gengar out.

Despite its lackluster performance in the original RBY OU metagame, Gengar has quite the few perks going for it in its Let's Go rendition, mainly in the form of its new Mega Evolution. Mega Gengar is a potent special attacker in the Let's Go OU metagame due to its superb Speed, Special Attack, and coverage that allows it to threaten nearly every common threat in the tier. Shadow Ball is its go to STAB move, targeting and dismantling the ever so common Mew alongside other staples such as Melmetal, Starmie, and Zapdos. Thunderbolt is a great coverage tool to hit targets that are either immune or resist its main Ghost-type STAB such as Mega Gyarados, Snorlax, and Alolan Muk. Mega Gengar also has quite a few support options it can run as well to deter incoming switchins. The most popular choices being Will-O-Wisp to neutralize physical attackers, Substitute to prevent it from being revenge killed by the likes of Mega Beedrill and Mega Alakazam, and Taunt to shut down walls such as Chansey and Mega Venusaur. Mega Gengar pairs well with other offensive partners such as Dragonite and Melmetal, as they can help apply offensive pressure to Mega Gengar's checks such as Alolan Muk and Snorlax. Defensive pivots also work great when paired with Mega Gengar due to its fragile bulk dissuading it from coming in on most neutral hits, with the best examples being Zapdos and Mew.

The information, again, is solid. I'd probably mention Melmetal and A-Muk (or snorlax/chansey) as needed partners to cover it against Mega Aero, Mega Zam, and Mega Bee, the three big cleaners that can force gengar out.

Despite its lackluster performance in the original RBY OU metagame, Gengar has quite the few perks going for it in its Let's Go rendition, mainly in the form of its new Mega Evolution.(honestly the next sentence is more than capable of serving as an introductory statement, particularly given this is a spotlight for Mega Gengar and not regular Gengar) Mega Gengar is a potent special attacker in the Let's Go OU metagame LGPE OU due to its superb Speed, Special Attack, and coverage that allows lets it to threaten nearly every common threat Pokemon (optional, threatens ... threat sounds a bit repetitive to me) in the tier. Shadow Ball is its goto STAB move, targeting and dismantling the ever so common (you imply Mew is a staple of the tier later in the sentence, so this bit is p much just fluff) targets Mew alongside and other staples such as Melmetal, Starmie, and Zapdos. Thunderbolt is a great coverage tool to hit hits targets that resist or are either immune or resist its main Ghost-type STAB to Shadow Ball such as Mega Gyarados, Snorlax, and Alolan Muk,(AC) and Snorlax. Mega Gengar also has quite a few support options it can run as well to deter incoming switch-ins(AH).(RP) The the most popular choices being Will-O-Wisp to neutralize physical attackers, Substitute to prevent it from being revenge killed by the likes of Mega Beedrill and Mega Alakazam, and Taunt to shut down walls such as Chansey and Mega Venusaur. Defensive pivots,(AC) Zapdos and Mew in particular,(AC) also work great well when paired with Mega Gengar due to its fragile bulk fragility dissuading it from coming in on most neutral hits (just neutral hits? or attacks in general?),(RC) with the best examples being Zapdos and Mew. Other defensive walls Pokemon such as Snorlax, Alolan Muk, and Melmetal can help deal with the threats Pokemon such as Mega Beedrill, Mega Alakazam, and Mega Aerodactyl that can offensively force Mega Gengar out such as Mega Beedrill, Mega Alakazam, and Mega Aerodactyl.(AP)
