Let's Talk About Body Grooming

We are now well into the 21st century, and people are coming to realize that, male or female, gay or straight, body grooming is a vital part of not being gross. There are countless male body razors and electric shavers, as 'manscaping' has become commonplace. Some people are born pre-groomed, but many others have to put in the time, effort, and sometimes pain to get their ideal body. Styles range from 'hairless' to 'hairy but clean', and personal preferences cover just as wide a range. What do you think about body grooming?

For those who engage in manscaping:
  • What is your preference as far as hair-amount? What factors play into this? What does your body look like right now?
  • How do you remove the hair? Wax, shave, Nair? How much time/effort/pain goes into it?
  • Have your sexual partners expressed their own preference for your ideal grooming habits? Did you comply?
  • Where do you draw the line? What parts of your body do you leave alone? What parts are you adamant about keeping it clean?
  • Why do you manscape? To please a partner? To excel at a sport? To... enhance some parts that you aren't satisfied with?
  • How long have you been manscaping? Where did you get the idea?
For those who do not engage in manscaping:
  • Were you aware that this is a trend? Now that you do, are you interested in looking into it?
  • If you are aware, then why don't you groom? Lack of need? Personal Preference?

A decent MikeDawg thread? What is this?

I don't really do a whole lot of grooming. I'm not exactly some hairless ape, but I don't really look like a gorilla either. The most I'll do is shave off the neckbeard (by the way, shaving around your Adam's apple fucking sucks) and then trim the remaining facial hairs down to a heavy stubble length. I'll trim down the hairs down there if they get too long, which I didn't really start doing until I needed to for practical reasons that I will not be discussing in this thread.

Were you aware that this is a trend? Now that you do, are you interested in looking into it?
I've seen it before, but I prefer to keep things natural while civilized. And not really, I feel fine with my body and its hair currently. I don't have any sexual partners nor will I for a long time so I don't at all feel motivated to clean up excess body hair.

If you are aware, then why don't you groom? Lack of need? Personal Preference?
I guess I feel more masculine with my body hair. When I used to run, I shaved everything but my arms and legs. I am naturally hairy (except for arms) so there could be the need but I have zero motivation to shave anything but my face and neck. Shaving my pubes is very uncomfortable and unnecessary.

  • What is your preference as far as hair-amount? What factors play into this? What does your body look like right now? moderate, i keep it trimmed but not removed. major factors are temperature. i let it go in the winter and keep it shorter in the summer, this goes for everything.. chest armpits pubes
  • How do you remove the hair? Wax, shave, Nair? How much time/effort/pain goes into it? a buzzer, maybe 10 mins a month and as long as youre careful to not catch ur nutsack like a carpet in a vaccuum, youre good
  • Have your sexual partners expressed their own preference for your ideal grooming habits? Did you comply? they all say they dont care, as long as theyre not choking on hair while giving me a bj. some actually preferred the hair, none have preferred totally shaved
  • Where do you draw the line? What parts of your body do you leave alone? What parts are you adamant about keeping it clean? i just mess with chest armoits and pubes, luckily im hairy but only in certain places
  • Why do you manscape? To please a partner? To excel at a sport? To... enhance some parts that you aren't satisfied with? mostly to stay clean and keep ,y skin healthy. its hard to put on sunscreen or lotion when your chest looks like austin powers
  • How long have you been manscaping? Where did you get the idea? since 9th grade, prob on tv or thru peers

to me, body grooming is shaving my pubic hair if i'm expecting a blow job and trimming my beard if i'm going somewhere nice.

i'm fortunate in that most of my body hair regulates itself...for whatever reason I don't grow hair on my back, chest or stomach and never have done (in to my mid 20's now) and the hair on my legs and forearms is fair and short. it was a bit annoying when i was in my teens and it made me feel like 'less of a man' or whatever but now it's awesome and I wouldn't have it any other way...shaving is too much like hard work if you ask me.
