Morelulls Typenkombination erlaubt es, bedrohliche Pokémon im LC, wie Carvanha, Tyrunt und Grookey ohne Acrobatics zu checken. Im Gegensatz zu der Hauptkonkurrenz, Foongus, wird Morelull nicht sehr effektiv von Psychic getroffen, wodurch es besser Psychic Fangs von Carvanha und Tyrunt einstecken kann. Des weiteren ist Morelull bulkiger als Foongus, es hat jedoch kein Regenerator. Moonblast ist ein weiterer Pluspunkt, da es Tyrunt und Kampf-Pokémon wie Mienfoo und Tumburr sehr effektiv trifft. Effect Spore kann potenziell Pokémon durch entweder Paralyse, Schlaf oder Vergiftung bestrafen, welche Morelull durch eine Kontaktattacke angreifen, wie zum Beispiel Carvana mit Flip Turn. Natu ist ein großartiger Teampartner, da es zwei von Morelulls Checks, nämlich Foongus und Ferroseed sehr effektiv trifft und sie mittels Magic Bounce nerft. Gift-Pokémon wie Koffing zwingen Morelull, auszuwechseln; Porygon mit Psychic kann diese beseitigen während es Morelulls Fähigkeit schätzt, Kampf-Pokémon zu checken.
Morelull's typing allows it to check threatening Pokemon in LC such as Carvanha, Tyrunt, and Grookey without Acrobatics. Unlike its main competition, Foongus, Morelull is not weak to Psychic, letting it more easily tank Psychic Fangs from Carvanha and Tyrunt. Morelull is also bulkier than Foongus; however, it lacks Regenerator. Moonblast is another selling point over Foongus, hitting Tyrunt and Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr super effectively. Effect Spore can potentially punish Pokemon that make contact with Morelull, such as Carvanha using Flip Turn, with one of paralysis, sleep, or poison. Natu is a great teammate, as it hits two of Morelull's hardest checks in Foongus and Ferroseed super effectively and annoys them with Magic Bounce. Poison-types such as Koffing also force Morelull out; Porygon with Psychic can deal with these Pokemon while appreciating Morelull's ability to check Fighting-types.
