[overview]
**Draft order**: Late round 1 onwards

**Price range**: 16-17 points

**Overview**: With an excellent Special Attack stat, powerful STAB moves, and a good Speed stat, Latios is an effective wallbreaker, pivot, cleaner, and form of speed control. It also has access to utility options like Trick and Thunder Wave, which it can use to catch the opponent off guard and potentially hinder a foe. Although it resists common types like Fighting, Fire, and Water, its weakness to other common types like Dragon, Ghost, and Ice, as well as its low Defense, leaves it vulnerable to many offensive threats.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: With Choice Specs and powerful STAB moves in Draco Meteor, Luster Purge, and Psyshock, Latios can rip massive holes in teams. Aura Sphere allows it to break through most Steel-types that would otherwise resist its STAB combination.

**Speed control**: Latios's good Speed stat lets it use a Choice Scarf to outspeed and threaten a plethora of offensive threats, making it a good revenge killer and late-game cleaner; it can also pivot teammates in with Flip Turn.

**Setup sweeper**: Latios can use a setup set with Agility to outspeed the opponent's offensive threats. Calm Mind can also be useful against bulkier teams, with the Special Defense boost also helping it survive attacks from them. While niche, Weakness Policy can let Latios boost to deadly levels off of a single attack.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Draco Meteor, Dragon Pulse, Luster Purge, Psyshock, Psychic Noise, Stored Power

**Setup moves**: Calm Mind, Agility

**Utility moves**: Flip Turn, Trick, Thunder Wave, Recover, Memento, Roar, Substitute, Tailwind

**Coverage**: Aura Sphere, Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Ice Beam, Surf, Shadow Ball

Niche Moves
========
**Future Sight**: Future Sight can be used with entry hazard support to force the foe to switch and accumulate extra chip damage or to help a teammate break through a check.

**Reflect and Light Screen**: In the rare matchups where Latios struggles offensively, Latios can run a lead set with Light Clay, dual screens, and Memento to support its teammates.

**Earthquake**: Earthquake can hit Heatran for a significant amount of damage.

Common Items
========
**Choice Specs**: Choice Specs is Latios's best item if acting as a wallbreaker, letting it do massive damage without the need to set up.

**Choice Scarf**: With Choice Scarf, Latios can act as excellent speed control with its good Speed stat, letting it outspeed and threaten many offensive Pokemon, including many setup sweepers at +1, making it a great revenge killer.

**Life Orb**: While not quite as strong as Choice Specs, Life Orb allows Latios to switch between its moves at the cost of recoil damage.

**Resistance Berry**: Calm Mind sets can use resistance Berries to grant more setup opportunities; Colbur Berry is a great option due to it further decreasing Knock Off's power.

Niche Items
========
**Soul Dew**: If Latios is not running any coverage moves, Soul Dew can be used to increase the power of its attacks without any drawbacks.

**Weakness Policy**: Weakness Policy can be used on setup sets alongside Stored Power and Agility to boost Latios to deadly levels in a single turn.

**Mental Herb**: Mental Herb allows Latios to freely set up against most Taunt and Encore users.

**Lum Berry**: Lum Berry can be used on Calm Mind sets as a one-time means to absorb status moves like Thunder Wave and Toxic.

**Light Clay**: If Latios is running dual screens, Light Clay can be used to further support its teammates.

Tera
========
Latios is usually banned from being a Tera Captain. However, if Latios is allowed to Terastallize, then it is an excellent Tera Captain. Offensive Tera types like Tera Dragon and Tera Psychic can be used to increase the power of its STAB moves, but other Tera types can be used for coverage moves. Defensively, Tera Fairy removes many of Latios's weaknesses; Tera Steel, Tera Electric, and Tera Poison also give it few weaknesses thanks to Levitate nullifying Ground-type moves.

Draft Strategy
========
Latios is a great fit for drafts looking for a top-tier special wallbreaker, pivot, and speed control, as its solid defensive typing coupled with Levitate affords it several switches throughout the game. Drafts with Latios should be built around maximizing its potential; its teammates should help it with wallbreaking and cleaning, as these are the two most common roles Latios performs.

**Fast teammates**: While Latios can be good speed control with Choice Scarf, doing so significantly reduces its wallbreaking power. Therefore, fast teammates like Greninja and Tornadus-T are great partners, as they can let it act as a wallbreaker instead and benefit from Latios weakening special walls.

**Physical wallbreakers**: Physical wallbreakers like Sneasler and Baxcalibur can weaken opposing walls for Latios, allowing it to easily clean late-game.

**Entry hazard setters**: Latios appreciates Stealth Rock support from the likes of Landorus-T and Excadrill as well as Spikes support from teammates like Meowscarada and Clodsire, as they help chip down special walls for Latios to break through.

**Entry hazard removal**: Latios dislikes taking Stealth Rock chip, as it frequently switches in to threaten the foe. Therefore, entry hazard removers like Iron Treads are greatly appreciated.

**Fairy and Dark resistances**: Latios has little defensive utility and struggles against many Fairy- and Dark-types, so teammates that resist them like Galarian Slowking and Ting-Lu, respectively, are appreciated; Galarian Slowking can also safely pivot Latios in with Chilly Reception.

Checks and Counters
========
**Faster Pokemon**: Foes like Roaring Moon and Meowscarada naturally outspeed Latios and can OHKO it; they can also use Choice Scarf to outspeed Latios even if it has a Choice Scarf of its own.

**Priority moves**: Latios is weak to priority moves like Ice Shard, Sucker Punch, and Shadow Sneak; common users of them include Weavile, Urshifu-S, and Ceruledge, respectively.

**Steel-types**: Many Steel-types like Gholdengo, Metagross, and Scizor resist Latios's STAB moves, can take a coverage move from Latios, and can threaten it back.

**Fairy-types**: While many Fairy-types dislike switching into Latios's Psychic-type moves, they can block its Dragon-type STAB moves and threaten significant damage back.

**Draft order**: Late round 2 onwards

**Price range**: 16-17 points

**Overview**: With an excellent Special Attack stat, powerful STAB moves, and a good Speed stat, Latios is an effective breaker and form of speed control. can mention that it’s also a solid pivot and cleaner as well

Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: With Choice Specs and powerful STAB moves in Draco Meteor, Luster Purge, and Psyshock, Latios can rip massive holes in teams. Aura Sphere allows it to break through most Steel-types that would otherwise resist its STAB combination.

**Speed Control**: Latios's good Speed stat lets it use a Choice Scarf to outspeed and threaten a plethora of offensive threats while also being able to pivot teammates in with Flip Turn.

**Setup Sweeper**: Latios can use a setup set with Weakness Policy, triggering it off of a U-turn or another super effective hit. However, if available, Latias should be drafted instead if one intends to frequently use Latios as a setup sweeper, as Latias is more reliable with its superior bulk and ability to Terastallize. id mention cm as the alternate set option to wp, as a more reliable double option against bulkier teams

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Draco Meteor, Dragon Pulse, Luster Purge, Psyshock, Psychic Noise, Stored Power

**Setup moves**: Calm Mind, Agility

**Utility moves**: Flip Turn, Trick, Thunder Wave, Recover, Memento, Roar, Substitute, Tailwind

**Coverage**: Aura Sphere, Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Ice Beam, Surf, Shadow Ball

Niche Moves
========
**Future Sight**: Future Sight can be used with entry hazard support to force the opponent to switch and accumulate extra chip or to help a teammate break through a check.

id add Reflect/Light Screen and mention that when paired with Light Clay, it makes Latios a solid enabler in the rare matchups where it struggles offensively

Common Items
========
**Choice Specs**: Choice Specs is Latios's best item if acting as a wallbreaker, letting it do massive damage without the need to set up.

**Choice Scarf**: With Choice Scarf, Latios can act as excellent speed control with its good Speed stat letting it outspeed threaten many offensive Pokemon. mention that it also outspeeds most setup threats at +1, making it a potent revenge killer

add life orb here, it trades the power of specs for the ability to switch up moves. would also add resistance berries since they enable CM sets to setup freely

Niche Items
========
**Soul Dew**: If Latios is not running any coverage moves, Soul Dew can be used to increase the power of its attacks without any drawbacks.

**Weakness Policy**: Weakness Policy can be used on setup sets alongside Stored Power and Agility to boost to deadly levels in a single turn. However, this role is usually better performed by Latias.

add mental herb to avoid being encored into setup, and light clay for the reasons mentioned with screens. can add lum berry as it’s an okay option on cm sets to avoid twave/toxic from otherwise neutering it

Tera
========
Latios is usually banned from being a Tera Captain. However, if Latios is allowed to Terastallize, then it is an excellent Tera Captain. Offensive Tera Types like Tera Dragon and Tera Psychic can be used to increase the power of its STAB moves, but other Tera Types like Tera Electric and Tera Fighting can be used for coverage moves. Defensively, Tera Fairy and Tera Steel remove many of Latios's weaknesses; Levitate also nullifies its Ground-type weakness if it Terastallizes into the Steel-type. would mention electric/poison defensively since it gives lati 0/1 weaknesses, enabling setup easier. id shorten the offensive tera type section to just saying that the types (pick 2-3 you like) make latios hit harder. we don’t need to go into too much depth on a tera banned mon.

Draft Strategy
========
Latios is a great fit for drafts looking for an early special wallbreaker, pivot, and speed control. Additionally, its resistances to common types like Fighting, Fire, and Water as well as its immunity to Ground can afford it several switches throughout the game. just a small line saying that it can’t do everything so here’s what it needs from its teammates or smth akin to that - just so it flows better into the list

**Fast teammates**: While Latios can be good speed control with Choice Scarf, doing so significantly reduces its wallbreaking power. Therefore, fast special teammates like Greninja and Tornadus-T that can benefit off of Latios weaking special walls are great partners for it. id also mention some physical options to break for latios, can be it’s own point if you’d like to include slower options

**Spikes**: Latios appreciates Spikes support from teammates like Meowscarada and Clodsire, as they help chip down special walls for Latios to break through.

(repeat as necessary)
needs mention of hazard control as a whole (prolly one point on setters and why lati appreciates them, and one on removers and why lati doesn’t wanna take the chip), fairy/dark resists since lati doesn’t have much defensive utility, possibly slow pivots to bring lati in safely. it’s okay to have a lotta points on it since it’s ur r1 mon

Checks and Counters
========
**Faster Pokemon**: Foes like Roaring Moon and Meowscarada naturally outspeed Latios and can OHKO it; they can also use Choice Scarf to outspeed Latios even if it has a Choice Scarf of its own. Physically bulky teammates like Skarmory and Iron Hands are appreciated, as they can switch into and force out these threats, with Skarmory also being able to set Spikes for Latios. this kinda info goes into draft strategy, ik it wasn’t like this slate 1 but we’ve been moving it this slate and will aim to going forwards too. id also either extend this to priority or make a new bullet on priority as it’s weak to ice shard, sucker punch and shadow sneak

**Steel-types**: Many Steel-types like Gholdengo, Metagross, and Scizor can take a coverage move from Latios and threaten it back. Therefore, Fire-types like Gouging Fire and Ceruledge are appreciated, as they can threaten significant damage on them. same as above, would mention that they resist both stabs here too. is it obvious? absolutely it is, but it isn’t obvious to little timmy

QC 1/2 - I’d remove all comparisons to Latias; while it’s true that it can run setup sets better thanks to Tera, the aim here isn’t to compare the two, it’s to highlight what Latios does. @ me on Discord when you’ve implemented this so I can double check

**Draft order**: Late round 2 onwards Could be early round 2/late round 1, using the winter seasonal tiers as a baseline

**Price range**: 16-17 points

It also has access to utility options like Trick and Thunder Wave to cripple the foe. Although it resists common types like Fighting, Fire, and Water, its weakness to other common types like Dragon, Ghost, and Ice as well as its low Defense leaves it OHKOed by many offensive threats.

Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: With Choice Specs and powerful STAB moves in Draco Meteor, Luster Purge, and Psyshock, Latios can rip massive holes in teams. Aura Sphere Its strong coverage allows it to break through most Steel-types many Pokémon that would otherwise resist its STAB combination.

**Speed Control**: Latios's good Speed stat lets it use a Choice Scarf to outspeed and threaten a plethora of offensive threats while also being able to pivot teammates in with Flip Turn. Feels too narrow in scope, Latios does function as speed control but specify that this allows it to be a good revenge killer + late game cleaner.

I really dont like focusing this much on weakness policy. I would rewrite this to focus on its Calm Mind sets, move weakness policy to niche items if you really want to talk about it, dont mention it anywhere else.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Draco Meteor, Dragon Pulse, Luster Purge, Psyshock, Psychic Noise, Stored Power

**Setup moves**: Calm Mind, Agility

**Utility moves**: Flip Turn, Trick, Thunder Wave, Recover Add substitute

**Coverage**: Aura Sphere, Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Ice Beam, Surf, Shadow Ball

Niche Moves
========
**Future Sight**: Future Sight can be used with entry hazard support to force the opponent to switch and accumulate extra chip or to help a teammate break through a check.

Common Items
========

This feels exactly the same as what you wrote in the speed control section. Highlight exactly what makes choice scarf unique in adding to Latios's good speed.

Add resist berries, Colbur Latios especially is common to deal with Knock Off.

Consider mentioning non choiced sets, latios can run items like Life Orb, Expert belt, or Leftovers on sub sets well.

Niche Items
========
**Soul Dew**: If Latios is not running any coverage moves, Soul Dew can be used to increase the power of its attacks without any drawbacks.

**Weakness Policy**: Weakness Policy can be used on setup sets alongside Stored Power to boost to deadly levels in a single turn. However, this role is usually better performed by Latias. Never compare to other Pokémon like this, Latias does not need to be mentioned.

Tera
========
Latios is usually banned from being a Tera Captain. However, if Latios is allowed to Terastallize, then it is an excellent Tera Captain. Offensive Tera Types like Tera Dragon and Tera Psychic can be used to increase the power of its STAB moves, but other Tera Types like Tera Electric and Tera Fighting can be used for coverage moves while other types can be used to boost its common coverage moves. Defensively, Tera Fairy and Tera Steel remove many of Latios's weaknesses;. Levitate also nullifies its Ground-type weakness if it Terastallizes into the Steel-type.

Draft Strategy
========
Latios is a great fit for drafts looking for an early special wallbreaker, pivot, and speed control. Additionally, its resistances to common types like Fighting, Fire, and Water as well as its immunity to Ground can afford it several switches throughout the game. This feels irrelevant here, elaborate on how this is a Pokémon you build around as it is a R1/2 pick.

**Fast teammates**: While Latios can be good speed control very fast with Choice Scarf, doing so significantly reduces its wallbreaking power. Therefore, fast special teammates like Greninja and Tornadus-T that can benefit off of Latios weaking special walls are great partners for it. I understand what you are going for here, but this can be worded a lot more eloquently. Latios like fast teammates that either allow it to lay more into cleaning, or that benefit from its breaking. Greninja, and Ogerpon are good examples here.

Talk about physical attackers here.

**Spikes Hazard Support**: Latios appreciates Spikes hazard support from teammates like Meowscarada and Clodsire Ting-Lu, Iron Treads, as they help chip down special walls for Latios to break through. the added chip damage will help Latios be more effective as an offensive threat.

(repeat as necessary)

Checks and Counters
========

**Steel-types**: Many Steel-types like Gholdengo, Metagross, and Scizor can take a coverage move resist both STABS from Latios and threaten it back with what?. Therefore, Fire-types like Gouging Fire and Ceruledge are appreciated, as they can threaten significant damage on them.

You could make a section for Fairies here, or combine this with Steel-types if you think that is more reasonable. They should be mentioned as they both defensively and offensively check Latios

Just gonna mention here, remove both suggestions for ways to patch the weaknesses you mentioned. These should be placed in draft strategy for clarity.

i'd rewrite this to be less dependent on weakness policy, ultimately it's a niche item on our list and cm/setup latios is not fully reliant on it to work. probably mention agility as a setup move here too.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Draco Meteor, Dragon Pulse, Luster Purge, Psyshock, Psychic Noise, Stored Power

**Setup moves**: Calm Mind, Agility

**Utility moves**: Flip Turn, Trick, Thunder Wave, Recover, Memento, Roar, Substitute, Tailwind

**Coverage**: Aura Sphere, Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Ice Beam, Surf, Shadow Ball

Niche Moves

**Future Sight**: Future Sight can be used with entry hazard support to force the opponent to switch and accumulate extra chip or to help a teammate break through a check.

**Reflect and Light Screen**: In the rare matchups where Latios struggles offensively, Latios can run a lead set with Light Clay + dual screens and Memento to support its teammates.

add earthquake specifically for heatran matchup

Common Items

**Choice Specs**: Choice Specs is Latios's best item if acting as a wallbreaker, letting it do massive damage without the need to set up.

**Choice Scarf**: With Choice Scarf, Latios can act as excellent speed control with its good Speed stat letting it outspeed and threaten many offensive Pokemon, including many setup sweepers at +1, making it a great revenge killer.

**Life Orb**: While not quite as strong as Choice Specs, Life Orb allows Latios to switch between its moves at the cost of extra chip damage.

**Resistance Berry**: Calm Mind sets can use resistance Berries to grant more setup opportunities; Colbur Berry is a great option due to it further decreasing Knock Off's power.

Niche Items

**Soul Dew**: If Latios is not running any coverage moves, Soul Dew can be used to increase the power of its attacks without any drawbacks.

**Weakness Policy**: Weakness Policy can be used on setup sets alongside Stored Power and Agility to boost to deadly levels in a single turn.

**Mental Herb**: Mental Herb allows Latios to freely set up against most Taunt and Encore users.

**Lum Berry**: Lum Berry can be used on Calm Mind sets as a one-time way to absorb status moves like Thunder Wave and Toxic.

**Light Clay**: If Latios is running dual screens, Light Clay can be used to extend the duration of them, further supporting its teammates.

Tera
========
Defensively, Tera Fairy removes many of Latios's weaknesses; Tera Steel, Tera Electric, and Tera Poison also give it few weaknesses thansk to Levitate nullifying Ground-type moves.

Draft Strategy
========
Latios is a great fit for drafts looking for an early top-tier special wallbreaker, pivot, and speed control, with its resistances to common types like Fighting, Fire, and Water as well as immunity to Ground solid defensive typing coupled with Levitate affording it several switches throughout the game. However, Latios can't perform all of these roles at once, so support from its teammates to lift the burden is appreciated. this sentence feels like fluff that doesn't do what Celeste asked. you build around latios and its teammates are there to assist its wallbreaking and cleaning capabilities.

**Fast teammates**: While Latios can be good speed control with Choice Scarf, doing so significantly reduces its wallbreaking power. Therefore, fast special teammates like Greninja and Tornadus-T are great partners, as they can let it act as a wallbreaker instead and benefit off of Latios weakening special walls.

**Physical wallbreakers**: Physical wallbreakers like Sneasler and Baxcalibur can weaken special opposing ideally you aren't using your special wall to beat a sneasler walls for Latios, allowing it to easily clean late-game.

**Fairy- and Dark-type resists**: Latios has little defensive utility and struggles against many Fairy- and Dark-types, so teammates that resist them like Galarian Slowking and Ting-Lu, respectively, are appreciated; Galarian Slowking can also safely pivot Latios in with Chilly Reception.

**Steel-types**: Many Steel-types like Gholdengo, Metagross, and Scizor resist Latios's STAB moves, can take a coverage move from Latios, and can threaten it back.

mention fairy types in this section, it can be with the caveat that many don't appreciate Latios's psychic moves, but blocking Draco is big and fairies in general are some of the more splashable offensive checks
