Pros and Cons
Pros:

With Luster Purge being buffed to 95, Latios now has a stronger alternative to Psychic that can break through even bulkier foes such as Gholdengo and Unaware Skeledirge after a Special Defense drop and Tera Psychic.


It has much higher Special Attack stat than Dragapult, allowing it to bust past most foes such as Assault Vest Hisuian Samurott EVing to live Dragapult Draco Meteor.


Flip Turn allows it to pivot out of bad matchups like Kingambit and Corviknight.

Cons:

Steel-types are able to switch into Latios quite nicely. Kingambit is immune to Luster Purge and forces Latios to use of Tera Fighting to not have it be revenge killed by Sucker Punch, though it fears Aura Sphere. Bulky Gholdengo can tank 2 Tera Psychic Luster Purges even after a drop, is immune to Aura Sphere and Knock it out with Shadow Ball. Corviknignt can switch in and waste Latios’s PP even faster with Pressure.


Dragapult is one of the main reasons it has to run Choice Scarf a lot of the time, because it would otherwise be easily revenge killed. Dragapult can also run Choice Scarf variants itself and be even worse off.


Other faster threats like can come in to revenge kill it on Draco Meteor or Luster Purge, forcing a switch out.


Both Draco Meteor and Luster Purge only have 8 PP, meaning it has to use it’s moves wisely and has to get predictions right most of the time.

Tera Dragon or Psychic turns Latios into a nuke, breaking through even bulky resists like Hatterene. Psyshock can be used over Luster Purge for more PP and hitting Blissey harder. Aura Sphere allows it to nail Kingambit and Heatran. Trick can cripple Corviknight on switch-in. Flip Turn is a safe option to come freely pivot out of bad matchups. On Choice Specs sets, it use Shadow Ball in the 4th slot to nail Gholdengo.

Latios can run a Stored Power set to sweep teams once Kingambit is gone, but this set is outclassed by his sister Latias due to her higher bulk.

Conclusion:
While Latios appreciates the buff to Luster Purge, it’s likely just going to be outclassed in nearly every way by Dragapult and Deoxys-S, due to them outspeeding most of the metagame and outclassing its offense.

Anyways Latios IMO is pretty good now because of the Luster Purge buff & Fairies in general being less prominent with Tapus and Magearna either being banned or not in the game. Latios's power and speed are on the higher end for OU Dragon-types as well. Walking Wake was considered a great pokemon in OU and this Pokemon has both high power and speed. Latios's practical immunity to hazards is a massive boon in a hazard hellhole. I think Latios will carve out more of a niche in OU this gen compared to last gen, even with Kingambit and Gholdengo giving it a rough time.
