ORAS NU LanWeezDon!

Hey guys, it's DaRizzle here! I recently watched Deej's teambuilding video, and he used a core of Lanturn, Weezing and Rhydon, which can take on the majority of the tier. I got really fascinated by this core and decided to build around it, for my RMT for this month! Enjoy guys! :D

Disgusting! (Weezing) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Sludge Bomb
- Taunt
- Flamethrower

Weezing can check a few things for me. It makes sure I don't instant lose to Fighting types (apart from Busken ofc), is my backup check to Klingklang if Lanturn goes down, also this stinky thing my backup Lilligant stop, and can beat Mega Audino and Malamar. I used it in last month's team, but I really enjoy weezing so I decided to use it again!

171.png

TurnOn (Lanturn) @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 HP / 220 Def / 208 SpD / 40 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Volt Switch
- Heal Bell
- Toxic

Lanturn and weezing are gr8 partners, they have brilliant defensive synergy with one another. Lanturn is my main electric switch in and my water switch in, and is my main stop to Klingklang. Lanturn is also one of my three fire resists, although I generally prefer to switch something else in, but that's matchup based.

112.png

Philip (Rhydon) (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 240 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Megahorn

Rhydon patches up this godly defensive core, and appreciates Weezing's ability to switch into Fighting, Ground and Grass types, and Lanturn's ability to switch into water types. Standard bulky spread with Megahorn to lure Malamar, although I am debating switching it for Roar, since Malamar and Shiftry are covered by Weezing, although denting bulky psychic types is really fucking cool.

Roast Duck (Magmortar) (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 104 HP / 252 SpA / 152 Spe
Mild Nature
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Earthquake

AV Magmortar is probably one of my favourite mons to use tbh, and it's ability to absorb sleep, and beat Steels is what this team really, really needs. EQ is there because wearing down Lanturn is also quite beneficial for this team, as so far Lanturn is a little bit of an issue.

275.png

Wood Elf (Shiftry) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
IVs: 29 HP
- Knock Off
- Leaf Storm
- Sucker Punch
- Defog

Shiftry is such a great pokemon to use, and for this team it provides a cool defogger and an great answer to the fat psychics that scare this team. It also threatens Quagsire, which this team could've had issues muscling past :/ 29 IVs is the standard LO number, which is nice.

277.png

Bird Bro (Swellow) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sleep Talk
- Boomburst
- U-turn
- Heat Wave

Swellow provides this team with much needed Speed, as otherwise many threats would outspeed this team. The virtue of Swellow is that it outspeeds the entire unboosted tier, and I don't often have to risk the tie with other Swellow because both Lanturn and Rhydon can deal with both variants. Sleep Talk is there just in case Magmortar goes down, and I need a way to hit Lilligant harder.

Threatlist:

272.png
- This thing I legit lose against if it's in rain. I have to sack something to wear it down by LO recoil and then pick it off with Sucker by Shiftry, even though the switch out is the better play :( Even in rain, switching into this thing is a bitch and a half.

124.png
- This monster is a huge problem if it sets up. I often lead off with Swellow and U-turn into Maggy vs this thing, or just click Sleep Talk. But then again, what team can deal with Jynx properly lmao? A well made one :(

518.png
- If this thing sets up a Barrier, it can be a bitch to KO, but a Toxic from Lanturn generally does the job :)

699.png
- A well played Aurorus or a rare CB Variant is hard to deal with, as all it has to do is click Earth Power/Earthquake and hits something hard.

Hey what's up. I'm just gonna leave a couple of thoughts here not really a full rate but I really feel that strong fighting types like Sawk or Primeape pretty much shit on this team. Weezing is pretty easily overwhelmed in my experience, and outside of Swellow you don't really have much which can outspeed and take them out in the first place. I also feel like Colbur CM Psychics like Mushy can be pretty annoying to you in general, but whatever. Running some variant of Scyther > Swellow (i dont particularly care if its SD + U-Turn or CB) would definitely take a lot of pressure from these mons, and if you choose SD would also give you a solid win condition. Running CB Would also give you some much needed priority in a pinch. Idk I just feel like there's a lot more merits of Scyther by virtue of typing and power than what Swellow had to offer. I would also add that if you don't choose to use SD Scyther as a WinCon I would suggest Flame Charge > EQ on Magmortar w/ a Speedier Rhydon to jump Lanturn, as with this teamstyle which lays down heavy pressure there will be a lot of matches where you are just looking for a clean, so that can help a lot.
