lads how scary is stranger things

season 1 is spooky as shit, season 2 blows hot air up the asses of all creatives everywhere, season 3 is spooky again

havent seen season 4 but i have a feeling it’s either a total cop out or completely reinvents horror, no in-between

season 4 was amazing. v excited for the final 2 episodes releasing on the 1st.

season 3 is pretty phenomenal honestly, strap in for Billy because he is a ride. anyone who grew up without a white picket fence will especially enjoy the tumultuous rollercoaster that is Billy Hargrove

as far as scary yucky look-between-your-fingers stuff i think each season perfectly primes you for the next level of fuckery. i binged the first 3 seasons just before watching the 4th having only been caught up thru the first season initially, so it's all pretty fresh in my mind. stranger things is definitely a show that achieves so much of the spookiness and horror by editing & sound design, and it's such a payoff to watch each ep!!!

also i am not a lad ™ ty

i hear season 4 has a lich or something as the primary antagonist. we need more users of phylacteries/soul cages in modern media, to give me inspiration. specifically, for my goblin lich character i want to play who seeks eternal life thru undeath so they can truly say they ate everything the multiverse has to offer. mmmmm tasty

then again they're a cleric of a gluttonous deity named Venkelvore so it's kind of a hit-or-miss concept

it's not scary at all, although there is perhaps a phobia of the Vaginal that pervades the show in a way that is most obvious in season 2 and 4, and then in the constant return to the Oedipal psycho-drama of 11 throughout. The most disturbing scenes are the experiments and such done on 11 and her cohort, and relatedly the show is obsessed with depicting apologetics related to the motif of the masculine urge to control the feminine (finally resolved in s4 probably, I havent quite finished, but it appears they are winding it down). Maybe its why the show is popular w consumers, but I wasn't that titillated or catharsis-ed by all the oedipal drama and masculine scientific cruelty. When not obsessing with that it is a very entertaining watch.
