I stumbled upon the idea for this team while watching the Jim Cool/Pinkacross collab where Galarian Weezing was brought up as a viable Mon in the right hands. I'm not the best player for the job( most replays will be in the high 1200s-mid 1300s range) but felt I was having fun with this team. However, as of late, I've felt that I'm not able to close out matchups the way I could when I was using this team in the 1400s and wished to ask the community for help.
The RMT will have a few basic sections:

Kyurem @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Freeze-Dry
- Draco Meteor
- Earth Power
Kyurem is the team's unquestionable win-con, and also tends to be the piece I withold for as long as possible before sending it out onto the field. The choice of Specs on this set essentially creates a Blizzard nuke that is often facilitated by the Chilly Reception switch from Glowking. Freeze-Dry is the preferred second Ice STAB move to deal with Ogerpon, Gliscor and Lando while being more accurate without snow. Draco Meteor deals great damage to all neutral targets that are not Blissey, and Earth Power helps to hit Kingambit, Gholdengo, and Glowking switch-ins. Specs does leave me having to pull off reads when I can't mindlessly click Blizzard, which is why the rest of the comp is quite pivot-heavy. Furthermore, being in the snow allows me to tank +2 Dragnonite ESpeed with ease and hit back with Blizzard/Draco.
Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 232 HP / 4 Def / 32 SpA / 240 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Psychic Noise
- Chilly Reception
- Sludge Bomb
- Thunder Wave
This is a quite standard Glowking set that provides good defensive utility, TSpikes absorbing, and has the ability to comfortably tank a special hit or two and retaliate with a Thunder Wave for speed control. This is crucial to the team as I have little other means of speed control and my fastest Mon (Jolly Roaring Moon) is outsped by many notable threats in the metagame. It also handles Make it Rain from Gholdengo rather well, allowing Galarian Weezing to come in and Defog in its face. I've opted for Psychic Noise over Future Sight as it can perform two important functions - bypassing Substitute and preventing Gliscor/Gholdengo/the legendary birds from recovering HP and keeping them in Kyurem's OHKO range. The few SpA EVs have been invested to make up for the comparatively weaker 75BP of Psychic Noise, but I haven't really checked calcs.
Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- Horn Leech
- U-turn
- Encore
Ogerpon is the most versatile member of this team and the one who suffers most from 4-moveslot syndrome .I've gone back and forth in my head about a 4-attacked pivot set, a Swords Dance Play Rough set, even flirting with the idea of Adamant Ogerpon to make 2HKOing bulky Gholdengo a more feasible idea without committing Tera. I really do miss the utility of Knock Off but Encore generates tremendous pressure on boosting Kingambits, SpA Booster Valiants trying to Calm Mind, and Zapdos/Moltres clicking Roost.
Roaring Moon @ Choice Band
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Outrage
- U-turn
- Earthquake
Roaring Moon does a lot for my team, and I'd be willing to admit it needs to do too much at times. It is the third piece of my pivoting core, the fastest Pokemon on my team and is also tasked with breaking open games where STAB Outrage can deal massive amounts of neutral damage. I have opted into the 252/252 spread to ensure clean 2HKOs on Knock Off against defensive Moltres and Zapdos sets(assuming no Flame Body proc). An Attack boost in sun also helps into Sun teams and dealing with Torkoal quickly.
Weezing-Galar @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Neutralizing Gas
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 220 HP / 240 Def / 48 SpA
Bold Nature
- Strange Steam
- Defog
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
The physical tank, and only niche pick of this team, is Galarian Weezing. With a 4x resist to Bug and Fighting, and a resist to Dark, this Mon can eat plenty of physical moves and still be good to burn or chip down an opponent while recovering with Pain Split. I've opted for a Rocky Helmet to punish U-turn spam and eat away quicker at Zamazenta, as well as ensuring a KO on Headlong Rush Tusk (which only just fails to OHKO this set). Defog is my team's primary means of hazard control and can be spammed as long as the opposing mon isn't an immediate threat; which is also part of the problem. Rocky Helmet is a fantastic option for what it does but also doesn't increase Weezing's longevity the way Boots/Leftovers would. Weezing's poor SpDef also means defogging in front of a Gholdengo is not always a given, but it does handle physical threats with such consummate ease that it truly justifies its spot on the team.
Side note: bringing this thing in on a Gliscor that's been sitting on the field for 4 turns and watching it lose half it's HP is quite hilarious and almost justifies the selection by itself.
Kingambit @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 44 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head
The final mon on the team is Kingambit, which is also my only "free slot". I have only opted for Kingambit for some priority, and because I can't really go wrong with Kingambit, but, as I will explain in the playstyle section, it doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the team. This slot is one that I've been open to experimentation about seeing as I need either some offensive utility and priority, Kingambit offers at least one of the two with the ability to exert immense pressure offensively and switch in to Iron Crown and/or Deoxys for nearly free and bait either a switch or a Tera commit. Extra SpDef EVs on this one(my original spread was 208HP/208Atk/88SpDef) to survive a WW flamethrower without sun being up.
General Playstyle
I tend to lead a lot with Moon; my lead slot was initially Rocky Helmet Lando-T, which I then swapped out for offensive SD Lando-T(think a Gen 5 OU suicide lead set with SD, EQ, rocks and Taunt) but soon realised my team was getting outsped on too many meta 1v1s, notably Ogerpon-W and Iron Valiant even without the Quark Drive boost. Roaring Moon generally clicks U-turn into most other leads, and my core consists of Moon, Glowking and Ogerpon pivoting around while fishing for the occasional Ivy Cudgel crit or committing to a second Knock Off on Moon.
Weezing is mostly brought in as a reactive switch when I predict a U-turn to chip physical attackers or as a slow switch in from Glowking, which tends to bait in Zamazenta, Iron Boulder and the like.
I try my best to preserve Kyurem and keep it on the field for as few turns as possible: I use a hit-and-run strategy with it more often than not which is helped by Regen Glowking always being around to sponge a hit or two, especially Valiant Moonblast and Tachyon Cutter from Iron Crown.
As mentioned in the team members list, Kingambit is often a loose piece that comes in to sweep endgames/ create offensive pressure as and when required.
Unless they're scarfed, most of the Ground-types such as Lando-T or Tusk that give my defensive mons trouble are simply Kyurem fodder, which is why preserving Kyurem for the endgame works best.
Good matchups
This team seems to have a sound structure, and as such performs more than reasonably against most balance teams; it handles Zamazenta, Gliscor, and Ting-Lu pretty well. Hazard-stacking and Webs teams matchups are often decided on how I am able to handle Gholdengo. If it is chipped and looking to recover/has had its SpA lowered, Weezing is able to Defog in its face pretty well and level the playing field.
This team also handles cheesy strats and psyspam quite well, with my pivoting core able to dance around them and Weezing to cripple physical sweepers such as Rillaboom and Hawlucha.
Bad matchups
As my team is not the quickest, I tend to have to rely on TWave from Glowking for speed control, which leaves me at a disadvantage vs. the likes of Darkrai and scarfed Lando-T, as well Booster Speed Tusk. Meowscarada is another problematic mon for my team, which can somewhat be handled by Galarian Weezing.
Above all, though, Gholdengo and Dragapult(utility/Specs pult) force my team into awkward maneouvres as my main special wall of Glowking is in a disadvantageous position against them and Weezing is particularly lacklustre at taking special hits, meaning I cannot switch it in to save Glowking. I often find myself having to switch in Kingambit here, risking a paralysis/burn and crippling it for the rest of the match. I'm honestly at a bit of a loss about what to do here as even Darkrai exerts considerable pressure against my team. I flirted with the idea of AV Glowking before junking it as I need Glowking to pivot and set up snow for Kyurem.
Sinistcha is a problem as well seeing as my best counter to it (Moon) can be effectively neutered by a Strength Sap if I don't have Kyurem around. Without Kyurem, the team loses a lot of its answers to many meta staples.
Replays
Please check under the spoilers, each replay has been tagged.
Thanks for reading! I'd love to hear community input on the team, or my usage of certain mons/moves. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed as far as competitive battling goes, and I am well aware that my team may be let down to a certain extent by my execution. I'm especially eager to know potential 6th slot options to help with my issues and would be grateful if anyone reading could drop a comment or a suggestion about changes to any aspect of my team/playstyle.
PS. If anyone knows how to actually use the sprite converter, please tell me how :/. Tried for quite a while and gave up eventually haha
Edit: As much as I'm grateful for the changes suggested, I'd love to keep Weezing on the team as that is what, I feel, gives it some unique identity. Suggestions to facilitate Weezing rather than replacing it are most welcome. Thank you!
