Kyogre is back to drown the Ubers tier! Kyogre is a great setup sweeper on balance and offense teams thanks to its rain-boosted moves and good defensive typing. Ice Beam is crucial for hitting Dragon-types like Koraidon, Miraidon, and Eternatus, as well as Pokemon that would otherwise wall it like Clodsire, Giratina-O, and Arceus-Grass. Thunder deals with Water-types like Toxapex, Arceus-Water, and opposing Kyogre, while Thunder Wave spreads paralysis and provides speed control. Heavy-Duty Boots is the preferred item, helping Kyogre come in without getting chipped by entry hazards, but Leftovers can be used to give Kyogre passive healing, letting it set up more easily. Tera Fairy checks Koraidon unless sun is up. Without Tera, Kyogre can struggle against Koraidon and Miraidon, making defensive teammates like Skeledirge and Clodsire, respectively, appreciated. Koraidon and Miraidon are also solid partners and can act as speed control and late-game cleaners for Kyogre. In return, they appreciate Kyogre pressuring their checks such as Landorus-T and Ting-Lu, respectively. Kyogre also appreciates entry hazard setters like Groudon, which notably can limit Koraidon.
