[OVERVIEW]
Kommo-o is a decent Dragon-type in RU thanks to its excellent Dragon / Fighting STAB combination, great bulk, useful abilities in Soundproof and Bulletproof, and access to a unique, powerful Dragon-type move in Clanging Scales, which is more spammable than Draco Meteor. It has a relatively expansive special movepool that consists of powerful STAB moves in Clanging Scales and Focus Blast as well as good coverage moves in Flamethrower and Flash Cannon, which allow it to hit most of the tier for super effective damage. Unfortunately, its only average Speed and Special Attack stats can let Kommo-o down at times, causing it to be outpaced by anything above the base 85 Speed tier and fail to land KOs on bulkier Pokemon without the use of a Z-Move. Additionally, its lack of a good physical Fighting-type STAB move makes any Dragon Dance set horrendously outclassed by Flygon, which has an arguably superior typing, movepool, and ability to better take advantage of Dragon Dance. This relegates Kommo-o to special sets only, which have limited variation in terms of moves, making it much easier to prepare for and subsequently deal with.

Moves
========
Clanging Scales is a powerful special Dragon-type move that can be more easily spammed than Draco Meteor with its perfect accuracy and less severe drawbacks. Focus Blast provides Kommo-o with an additional STAB move and hits the Steel-types that attempt to tank a Dragon-type move. Flamethrower is mostly for Doublade and other Pokemon that don't take much from either of Kommo-o's STAB moves, such as Bronzong, Assault Vest Escavalier, and Whimsicott; however, Draco Meteor can be used due to its insane power, since it isn't difficult to cover these threats with teammates. Draco Meteor is a slightly more powerful alternative to Clanging Scales and can be used to hit opposing Soundproof Kommo-o and secure the OHKO on Nidoqueen. Flash Cannon rounds out Kommo-o's coverage near-perfectly, hitting Fairy-types such as Florges, Diancie, and Comfey for super effective damage.
Set Details
========
Choice Specs boosts Kommo-o's power to acceptable levels given its decidedly average Special Attack stat. The ability is interchangeable, but Soundproof can often prove to be more useful, as it allows Kommo-o to freely switch into Swellow's Boomburst, a feat that not many other Pokemon can hope to accomplish; however, it must be wary of switching into Air Slash. On the other hand, Bulletproof is more useful in other situations because it provides protection against popular moves like Sludge Bomb, Shadow Ball, and Focus Blast. A Modest nature is preferred for maximum firepower, but if outspeeding threats like Choice Specs Gardevoir and Speed tying with Pokemon like Heracross is more important, a Timid nature is usable. Maximum investment in Special Attack and Speed allows Kommo-o to perform its role as a wallbreaker most effectively.
Usage Tips
========
Clanging Scales is usually the go-to move for Kommo-o, as its coverage moves aren't particularly strong with the exception of Focus Blast. Focus Blast should be used to nail the Steel-types that want to switch in such as Registeel, Bronzong, and Escavalier. The latter two take only neutral damage from Focus Blast, but because of the boost from Choice Specs, they will still sustain a considerable amount of damage. If opposing Soundproof Kommo-o are not an issue, then Flamethrower is used over Draco Meteor to nail Doublade, which resists or is immune to the rest of Kommo-o's moveset, and guarantee the OHKO on Escavalier. Flash Cannon shouldn't be used unless the opponent has a Fairy-type such as Florges, Comfey, or Gardevoir, as the power is pitiful on neutral targets, (comma) and Steel is a terrible attacking type to be locked into. Flash Cannon does not even 2HKO Florges, so its utility is rather limited. It does, however, hit Diancie for massive damage due to its 4x weakness to Steel. Try to bring in Kommo-o safely via a slow pivot, as the less damage it takes, the more chances it has to blow holes in the opponent's team. Don't be afraid to spam Clanging Scales, even if the opponent has a Fairy- or Steel-type on their team, as it is a very powerful move and hits extremely hard on neutral targets.
Team Options
========
Kommo-o appreciates teammates that can easily get rid of Fairy-types such as Gardevoir, Comfey, Florges, and Diancie. For this reason, Steel-types such as Escavalier and Durant are extremely useful, as they can both easily KO any Fairy-type with their Steel-type STAB moves, and the former takes very little damage from any Fairy-type's attack with the exception of Gardevoir's Hidden Power Fire and can also Pursuit trap Psychic-types like Gardevoir, Bronzong, and Espeon. Escavalier and Durant also resist Ice- and Dragon-type moves and are physical attackers, so they have decent synergy with Kommo-o, although Durant is rather specially frail and cannot take many hits if any at all. Zoroark makes an excellent partner, as it can lure in and KO Psychic-types, although the pair alone struggles to break through bulky Fairy-types such as Florges even with super effective coverage moves. Salazzle is a great offensive partner that can easily take out any Fairy-type with its STAB Sludge Wave as well as destroy any Steel-type with its STAB Fire-type moves. In order to capitalize on the many switches that Kommo-o can force, teammates that provide entry hazards such as Froslass, Uxie, and Nidoqueen are excellent partners. Bulky pivots such as Rotom-H and Uxie can also be helpful to bring in Kommo-o safely and start spamming Clanging Scales. Sticky Web support from the likes of Galvantula and Shuckle can be immensely useful for Kommo-o due to its relatively average Speed; this also allows a Modest nature to be run with fewer drawbacks.

Moves
========
Autotomize is used to double Kommo-o's average Speed, meaning Kommo-o can outpace even the most common Choice Scarf users such as Heracross and Flygon after a boost. Clanging Scales is Kommo-o's primary STAB move and is fairly spammable in most cases. Focus Blast provides excellent secondary coverage against the Steel-types that can take a Dragon-type move. Flamethrower is the primary and preferred coverage move, as it hits Doublade, which is fairly common in RU. Flash Cannon can be used instead in order to hit Fairy-types such as Gardevoir, Florges, and Diancie, but the damage is rather underwhelming, and the ability to hit Doublade is far more important.
Set Details
========
Life Orb is the preferred item for the boost in power to all of Kommo-o's attacks. Soundproof is the best ability for this set, as it allows Kommo-o to freely set up on Swellow's Boomburst. Bulletproof does have its merits, though, such as enabling Kommo-o to essentially wall Venusaur, but in most cases, Soundproof is superior. Maximum investment in Special Attack and Speed enables Kommo-o to hit as hard as possible while outspeeding as much as possible. A Modest nature is recommended over a Timid one, since almost nothing outspeeds a +2 Kommo-o, even with a Modest nature.
Usage Tips
========
Because Kommo-o's STAB moves are quite powerful, it sometimes does not need to set up to have a large impact. Autotomize makes Kommo-o a late-game cleaner rather than an outright sweeper due to the nature of its average Special Attack and lack of a Special Attack-boosting move, so only try to set up with Autotomize if needed, such as when there are still faster threats remaining on the opponent's team. Clanging Scales is the best move to use when in doubt due to its perfect accuracy and widespread neutral coverage. Focus Blast should be used to hit bulky Steel-types such as Registeel, while Flamethrower should be used to hit threats such as Assault Vest Escavalier. Because of Life Orb, recoil damage can wear down Kommo-o quickly, so be wary of threats that can come in and revenge kill Kommo-o after recoil damage, including Doublade and Comfey, since Autotomize's Speed boost is bypassed by their priority moves.
Team Options
========
Because Kommo-o lacks any Special Attack-boosting moves even though it has high-Base Power STAB moves, it doesn't have the power of other boosting Pokemon like Dragon Dance Flygon, so it's more reliant on its teammates to properly sweep. Teammates such as Durant, Salazzle, and Escavalier can reliably remove Fairy-type threats such as Florges, Comfey, and Gardevoir. Kommo-o also struggles to break through specially bulky Pokemon that aren't weak to any of its moves such as Milotic, Mantine, and Cresselia, so powerful physical threats such as Sharpedo, Dragon Dance Flygon, Swords Dance Heracross, and Bruxish can help. On that same note, entry hazards can give Kommo-o an easier time with breaking down bulkier threats, so Pokemon such as Froslass, Nidoqueen, and Uxie are great partners to have.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Kommo-o's Attack stat is slightly higher than its Special Attack, and it has access to Dragon Dance and a veritable myriad of physical coverage moves, but its unfortunate lack of a good physical Fighting-type STAB move and considerably lower Speed than Flygon, the other viable Dragon Dance user in RU, make this a rather unappealing set. Swords Dance and Belly Drum are other examples of physically oriented boosting moves that Kommo-o has access to, but once again, its poor Speed and lack of a good physical Fighting-type STAB move compromises the success of such sets. Salac Berry can be used in conjunction with Belly Drum, but by using such a combination, Kommo-o becomes susceptible to priority moves due to its significantly lowered health. A Substitute + Salac Berry + Reversal combination is possible, but it is unreliable and makes Kommo-o more prone to getting revenge killed by priority and Choice Scarf users such as Flygon. Fightinium Z can be used in order to give Kommo-o access to an extremely powerful one-time attack but is highly inferior to the overall damage increase provided by Life Orb. Likewise, Firium Z can be used along with Flamethrower to OHKO Doublade from full health, but Doublade struggles to do significant damage to Kommo-o, and Clanging Scales already does massive damage despite being a resisted move.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types such as Florges, Gardevoir, Comfey, and Diancie are immune to Kommo-o's Dragon-type moves and resist its Fighting-type moves with the exception of Diancie, which has such a massive Special Defense stat that it can stomach Focus Blast anyway. Diancie does have to watch out for Flash Cannon, however.
**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: RU is littered with specially defensive threats such as Cresselia, Milotic, Mantine, Slowking, and Uxie, and all of them can handle Kommo-o with ease and threaten it with status or a super effective move.
**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon with powerful super effective moves such as Flygon, Bruxish, Espeon, and Moltres can outspeed an unboosted Kommo-o and KO it.
