XY OU Kneecaps (Mega Medicham OU Team, peaked 1745)

Hello everyone, it's ur favorite papa dragon The Grim Garchomp with his 6th RMT!! After seeing the raw power Mega Medicham dealt on my old Megacham RMT with his High Jump Kick spam, I decided to make another team around our favorite crazy lunatic of a pokemon that crushes the skulls of his enemies between it's thighs. Anyways, it's time for the team!!

TEAM KNEECAPS 4 LYFE

mega_medicham_for_ssb4_by_elemental_aura-d6ymew8.jpg

Zangief (Medicham) @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Zen Headbutt
- Substitute
- Fake Out

To start out strong on this RMT is the star of the show, the greatest physical wallbreaker of them all, the skullcrusher himself, Zangief the Mega Medicham!! Named after the Red Cyclone of Street Fighter (both have a reddish kind of color, both crush skulls between thighs, and both are crazy powerful <3), this thing can literally break your unfortunate pokemon's skull with it's thighs with it's High Jump Kick, with usually guarantees an OHKO if you dont resist the move. Fake Out is to ensure the mega stat boost (unless you're a yucky Gengar/Cofragrigus, then you and I have a problem :P) and Zen Headbutt is for STAB and counters Mega Venusaur quite well. Ice Punch is the best coverage move I can have on this wrecking machine, destroying Lead Landorus-T, Gliscor (most of the time), Dragonite, and many more bulky dragons that I could possibly count. With the EVs and nature boosting Zangief with steroids to make him as fast and powerful as possible, he is my main physical late-game cleaner and wallbreaker.

Changed Ice Punch to Substitute to handle set-up sweepers, Bisharp, and Baton Passers. Also it gives me protection from Will-o-Wisp.

Concrete (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Knock Off

As my physical sweeper, scarfer and revenge killer, it's Concrete the Landorus-Therian!! This beast is one of the best U-Turners in the world of pokemon, with it's ability to spam Intimidate, completely ruining any Dragon Dancers in the opposing side. I chose Rock Slide over Stone Edge as Showdown takes time off to personally ruin my day everytime by throwing tons of hacks at me, most commonly Stone Edge missing. For that to stop, I put in Rock Slide. While the power of Stone Edge is gone, the flinch chance makes up for it and it still OHKOS Megazard Y and Talonflame. Earthquake is a powerhouse of a STAB attack, 2HKOing many pokemon, and destroying all who are weak to it. Knock Off are for those levitating ghost types, Chansey, annoying Lati twins and opposing scarfers. He is also my go-to guy to battle those Trick users, either nullifying them by switching around the Choice Scarves, or getting boosted by the Choice Band they give. Concrete also synergizes well with Zangief, who appreciates the Intimidate and U-Turns that Concrete gives. To make it short, Concrete is the one that clears the path for Zangief, destroying it's threats and crippling the opponent for Zangief to clean up.

Riot (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split

As I cannot use Mega-Manectric for an Intimidate VoltTurn core, I chose the next-best option (no, not Raikou). Needing a Volt Switch that counters Talonflame, I chose Riot the Rotom-W to be my physical wall, Volt Switcher, and physical crippler that synergizes with Concrete and Zangief up there. This thing will burn you down and throw away all chance of sweeping with Will-o-Wisp, wreck you with the strength of a riot hose with Hydro Pump, share it's damage with you with Pain Split, while all the while going in and out with Volt Switch, just to be a jerk. His EVs and nature allow for nice physical tanking, to get the chance to burn your physical sweeper easily, then to Pain Split and heal damage. This guy may be the No.2 option to go with Landorus-T, but he rightfully earned that place by being the ultimate Wall of China.

Eons-latias-and-latios-12063233-1152-864.jpg

Whiplash (Latios) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Draco Meteor
- Defog

Replacing Latias is his more offensive, and frailer twin Whiplash the Latios!! After giving the healing burden to my stealth rock setter, Hairgel is now free to be an all-out attacking defogger of power. With a Life Orb, Whiplash's attack goes through the roof and usually gets me an OHKO through Draco Meteor. It's EVs and nature give Latios the speed and power it needs for a fast Defog and enough power to OHKO/2HKO mostly all the pokemon in the OU tier. Psyshock is a powerful STAB that destroys most poison/fighting types that might be a threat to my team, like Gengar if I win the speedtie. HP Fire is for Ferrothorn and opposing steel types that think they can get a free switch on Latios, like Scizor or Bisharp (if high roll, kills Bisharp after rocks damage). Defog is pretty self-explanatory, with Whiplash being my defogger and all. Overall Whiplash is the strongest defogger I know, with the power behind it to destroy it's opponents and pave the path for Zangief to sweep.

pokemon___jirachi_wallpaper_by_kniye-d3lha43.jpg

Spellbound (Jirachi) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SpD / 32 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Wish
- Body Slam
- Iron Head

Replacing Buu the Clefable is my new hazard setter, paraflincher, and pain in the butt Spellbound the Jirachi(suggested by Albacore)!! To counter Mega Gardevoir and it's DEVASTATING Hyper Voices, Spellbound is one of the best dragon and fairy counters I've seen. While Clefable MIGHT have the better typing to tank a Draco Meteor, Jirachi is still no slouch. It trumps Clefable defensively, with it's base 100s over Clefable's base 90 SpDef and 73 Def, has a better moveset, with Stealth Rock for hazards, Wish for healing Mega Medicham and allowing my defogger to NOT kill itself just to heal Zangief up there (it can be a pain sometimes how I use Healing Wish, then watch as my opponent just sets up hazards after my defogger kicks the bucket :P), Body Slam to get the parahax, and Iron Head to paraflinch any slow threats to oblivion.

pokemon_bisharp_silvestre_by_sorocabano-d4jg7k3.jpg

Hunter (Bisharp) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit

After reviewing and checking my team, I saw that I needed a pokemon that could destroy all the bulky psychic types that barred Zangief from sweeping, that also countered Clefable, a HUGE threat to the team. And this is where Hunter the Bisharp comes in. As my physical sweeper, Clefable counter, and psychic destroyer, this thing is crazy strong. Noting all the defoggers that come in the opponent's team, most commonly the Lati twins, I decided to use it to my advantage with Hunter's Defiant ability, which gives me a free Swords Dance everytime I get hit by Defog, or a SpAtk drop from Moonblast, and such. If I do not get a Defiant boost, the Life Orb boosts my power just fine. The EVs and nature are very standard, boosting Hunter's attack through the roof, and making Hunter as fast as possible. The moveset is also pretty simple, with Knock Off being my STAB attack and the bane of all scarfers/Chanseys everywhere. Sucker Punch is the priority of Hunter, hitting all his opponents and taking them down like a lightning-fast arrow. Iron Head is the other STAB attack of Hunter, and the counter to Clefable and slow fairies like Sylveon or the uncommon Florges. Finally, Low Kick is for opposing Bisharps and steel types like Aggron (I've seen lots on the ladder :p) and the occasional Snorlax. Hunter ends my team pretty well, with his lightning-fast Sucker Punches and his almighty Iron Heads. Beware the Hunter, and always watch your back....
Changed Low Kick to Pursuit for yucky Latis and switching Psychic/Ghost types, especially Latias.

And that's the team!! Now to cover the threats to this team, so you guys can own me once you find me <3

  1. Scarfed Excadrill (While this thing may be uncommon, it beats thru my team if Concrete is dead, Earthquaking almost my whole team, and Iron Heading Clefable, the only member that can tank an Earthquake.)
  2. Mega Gardevoir with Will-o-Wisp (While Hunter is the counter to the fairy problem I have, it cannot hope to outspeed Megavoir to kill it, since it get's wrecked by it's Focus Blast. It's Hyper Voice are enough to destroy all my other pokemon and while Earthquake from Concrete destroys it, if Concrete get's Will-o-Wisp, it's all over. My only hope after that is Fake Out spam from Mega Medicham.)

Anyways, with everything covered, this is The Grim Garchomp signing off, until my next RMT.

Hey dude, pretty good team you have. I just have a couple minor changes for ya:
  • Adamant > Jolly on Medicham. Jolly doesn't really outspeed anything relevant in the tier and Adamant just hits stupidly harde and gives you really powerful fake outs to revenge kill easier. Adamant on Medicham also allows you to 2HKO defensive Clef with Zen Headbutt which is a huge selling point for a majority of players.
  • 44 Speed on Rotom is my next suggestion for you. 44 speed is pretty standard as that lets Rotom outspeed Jolly max speed Azumarill which although a less common set than AV, looks as if it could do quite a bit of work to your team.
  • Lastly is something that I'm kinda iffy on, but I think would improve the overall performance of your team; that would be Lum Berry Adamant Bisharp instead of Jolly LO. Lum Berry Sharp is a set that is becoming more and more common in the current meta and for good reason: Checking Stall Breaker Mew and Will-O Gard. Mew looks like it kinda 6-0's your team after getting a willo off on sharp and then recovering on something else like Rotom/Latias so I felt like Lum Berry Sharp could remedy this situation as well as your Willo Gard problem. Lum Berry lets sharp eat a Willo and do big damage to Mew with Knock off (might ohko, but calc is offline rn) and OHKO Gard with Iron Head.
That's pretty much it, I'd put some calcs and sets in, but PS kinda died along with the calc so nothing I can do there rip. Hope I could help!

This team looks pretty nice but I have a couple of suggestions. You are extremely weak to Mega-Gardevoir as you noted, and even if it doesn't carry WoW, it can be a huge problem since it comes in for free against Latios, Rotom, and in some cases Medicham, and nothing on your team resists Hyper Voice. I would suggest replacing Clefable for Jirachi. Jirachi also sets SR, deals with Latis, Thundurus (at least non-Knock Off variants) and Greninja (unless it carries Dark Pulse). Can also abuse Body Slam to paralyze opponents which gives Medicham an easier time. Doesn't like the Wisp variant but can at least take it on decently. Also lets you take on opposing Clefable which an be very annoying

I would also consider running Pursuit on Bisharp over Low Kick to actually trap opposing Dark-types for Medicham, however this makes you a lot weaker to opposing Bisharp in return. One way to fix this would be to run Hidden Power Fighting on Latias to lure Bisharp, however you probably need Psyshock for Charizard-Y, so in order to run that you need to drop Healing Wish which is unfortunate, and means you might as well go with Latios. A much better option would be to run Substitute on Mega-Medicham : this gives you a solid check to Bisharp at the very least, and also helps a lot vs Ferrothron who pretty much walls most of your team. I guess you can also run 128 Speed on Rotom-W, but you do miss out on alot of bulk so it's not really worth it. Finally, Cobalion serves as a hard counter to Bisharp and a secondary check to Clefable who you seem pretty weak to. It can set SR and also pivot with Volt Switch. It can be run over Clefable, though it does make you weaker to Latis (which you can trap anyway so that's not too much of a problem) and Greninja. Keldeo can also be an option, but it's harder to fit on your team

It may be a good idea to run Superpower>Knock Off on Landorus-T. This enables you to OHKO Mega-Gyarados, who can otherwise punch huge holes in your team if you're not careful, as well as MTTar to a lesser extent (also lets you hit Ferrothorn quite hard). It does make you weaker to Gengar though so this may not be ideal.

Mew looks like a massive pain for your team too, it walls Medicham and you don't have a good answer to it. Once again, running Substitute on Medicham helps a lot but you still can't reliably beat it. This probably sounds really odd but one option would be to run Substitute+Baton Pass on Medicham so that you Sub on Mew, pass said Sub to Bisharp, and Pursuit trap Mew, however this only works if you have Pursuit on Bisharp. You could also run Fast Air Baloon Heatran with Taunt and WoW as your rock setter, this patches up your weakness to Scarf Excadrill and Bisharp too. However this, one again, makes you weaker to Greninja. Scarf Heatran could also be an option, it doesn't really beat Mew or set SR but it does check Mega-Gardevoir and Greninja so it's something to consider at least. SD Talonflame is also an option but I don't really see where you could fit it on your team.

Not too many other weaknesses I can spot here, but doing something about MGardevoir and Mew is absolutely a priority. (Oh, and I also agree with making Mega-Medicham Adamant, but this is really a matter of personal preference)

Ok, thank you all who helped rate my team and improve, and here's the changes I will make:

Firstly, I am changing Clefable to Jirachi, as I have seen Jirachi put in work before, setting rocks, then paraflinching pretty much half of my team. Also, Jirachi has better defenses, with it's base 100s trumping Clefable's base 90 spdef and base 73 def, and it does what Clefable does, only better: Setting up rocks, getting KOs, and being an overall pain in the neck.

Secondly, I am changing Latias to Latios, with HP FIRE instead of fighting, for Ferrothorn which walls my team (thanks for the rate Albacore, you helped me a lot in most of my RMTs <3) and Scizor, which could smash in a few holes if left unchecked.

Thirdly, I am changing Low Kick on Bisharp to Pursuit to take down the bulky psychic types thinking they could switch out unharmed, which would be VERY useful in paving the path for a Zangief sweep.

And lastly, I am putting Substitue over Ice Punch, but not Baton Pass. Substitute can counter Bisharp pretty well, and I can heal off the damage from Substitute/HJK miss through Jirachi's Wish. However, Baton Pass to me is a waste of a slot as there are very little chances I get to pass a Substitute on to Bisharp, and Medicham is supposed to be my main sweeper, not Bisharp. Baton Pass kind of defeats the purpose of Medicham's atomizing of enemies, and being my main sweeper. Anyways, thank you Albacore and Hairy Toenail for your suggestions.

I will edit my RMT when I have the time, I'm currently on vacation, and I checked my RMT through the phone, and I aint wasting 2 hours of my time failing to edit my RMT with my fat fingers, and will edit them once I come back to the keyboard.

This whole post took 30 minutes to do. And yes, I am a bad phone typer.
