Hi all! I haven't played OU since Home dropped since new metas with new Pokemon usually intimidate at first. After Zamazenta-H was saved from the purgatory of Ubers, I felt now would be a great time to use him in a team with the other likely future S-Tier Pokemon of OU, Kingambit in a Bulky Offence/Balance style. Here is my team! Advice for improvement would be appreciated. Especially on Tera-Types, I'm bad with those.
Zamazenta @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Crunch
- Substitute
Iron Press + Substitute was a menace on the dawg's bigger brother, and is still a top tier threat in this meta. Zama-H is a great check to many physical attackers, with amazing survivability, speed, and power. Without a large attack investment crunch doesn't hit so hard, but I would make that trade for its overall bulk. One of two win cons for the team, it can also serve as a wallbreaker, or even a tank if needed. The Tera could be a different type, but I haven't quite figured that out yet.
Kingambit @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Kowtow Cleave
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
Kingambit and Zama-H compliment each other very well. Both of these sets are meant to take hits, which is something Kingambit can do well, especially against ghost types such as Dragapult (although it does not appreciate the burn from will-o-wisp). Being more of the traditional sweeper with swords dance, it can also take on a wall breaking role early on if needed. Tera-Fairy is great against Pokemon such as Iron Valiant or Enamorus which might wish to use a fighting type move against it. It serves as a great check to ghost and fairy types, while serving as a second potential win con as well.
Enamorus @ Choice Specs
Ability: Contrary
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Earth Power
- Mystical Fire
- Psychic
In the stories, for every king there's a queen right? Choice Specs Enamorus is a potent wallbreaker, that while frail appreciates the volt turn support from some of the other members of the team. It serves as a check to top mons such as Dragapult, Zama-H, Great Tusk, and other non-special walls as a whole. I have been thinking of switching her tera-type to ground, since this would boost Earth Power and make it more potent in checking electric types too, such as Zapdos. Enamorus also hs a slight bit of speed control, however both Zama-H and Kingambit do the speed control much better than she does.
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Protect
- Thunder Wave
Rotom-W is a bit of a placeholder atm. It does patch up some holes on this team - a fire, flying, and water resist, a second physical wall, extra speed control (with twave), and acting as one part of a volturn core. That being said, its power and survivability is a bit underwhelming, and there might be better Pokemon suited for the task. Another option I have been considering is switching Rotom-W to a special defensive set, considering my lack of Pokemon that can take too many special hits. However, he absolutely has his uses, and is a nuisance to deal with for any Pokemon.
Clodsire @ Black Sludge
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Recover
- Earthquake
I hated the Clod at first. I never understood why anyone liked this Pokemon's design. However, after using him, the funky little guys has grown on me. The premier special wall of this team, he ensures that the Gholdengos, Dragapults, and all other special attackers of the world have a hard time getting past him. I opted for unaware since Rotom-W could handle the water type resist, as well as Corviknight's tera water. He sets up stealth rock, poisons the enemy, and then switches out. He refuses to elaborate. What a funky little guy.
Corviknight @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Brave Bird
- Defog
- Roost
*Obligatory Bird*. That's the best way to describe Corviknight. A useful flying/steel typing, a rocky helmet to make physical attacker's lives hell, one of three viable Pokemon I know of with hazard removal, and completes the volturn core with Rotom-W. They compliment each other pretty well actually. Pretty self-explanatory overall, I opted for Brave Bird to deal with Pokemon such as Great Tusk, Zamazenta-H, and Enamorus slightly better.
And these are the Kings of OU! I look forward to feedback, especially on tera-types and evs (Some of the EV's for the pre-home Pokemon were taken from pre-home sets, so IDK if they are relevant anymore.)
