An amazing Defense stat combined with a fantastic Speed tier and access to STAB Body Press makes Zamazenta a potent late-game cleaner, especially in conjunction with Iron Defense. Crunch is used to prevent Zamazenta from being walled by Ghost-types such as Gholdengo and Dragapult. The last moveslot is fairly versatile; Substitute makes setting up multiple Iron Defenses easier and protects Zamazenta from status, while Heavy Slam hits Fairy-types such as Iron Valiant and Enamorus for high damage. Rest can also be used in conjunction with a Lum Berry to offer a one-time reprieve from Zamazenta's lack of recovery. 168 Speed EVs let Zamazenta outrun Dragonite after a single Dragon Dance, Choice Scarf Hoopa-U, and Dragapult that lack a Speed-boosting nature. Maximum HP EVs are used in order to survive Moonblast from Choice Scarf Enamorus and Tera Dragon Dragapult's Draco Meteor. Leftovers's passive recovery makes Zamazenta even harder to kill and is vital for its longevity due to its lack of healing moves. It also synergizes excellently with Substitute due to offsetting the move's HP cost. Lum Berry synergizes well with Rest and can also protect against other status effects in a pinch, but it is less reliable due to it only healing once and leaving Zamazenta vulnerable to chip damage from entry hazards. Tera Steel gives Zamazenta a fantastic defensive typing, letting it soak up Fairy-type attacks from the likes of Hatterene and Iron Valiant before retaliating with a STAB-boosted Heavy Slam. Tera Electric is another solid defensive option that lets it beat Zapdos, giving it an immunity to paralysis and a resistance to both of its STAB attacks. Lastly, Tera Fairy, in conjuction with Heavy Slam, gives it an advantage over other Zamazenta and Iron Valiant. It also enables it to better check Baxcalibur and physical Dragapult.
Zamazenta fits well on offensive teams, including hyper and bulky offense. Galarian Slowking makes for a great partner due to its ability to sponge hits from the Fairy-types Zamazenta despises, mainly Iron Valiant. It also provides offensive support with Future Sight and makes it easy for Zamazenta to get in with Chilly Reception. Other pivots, such as Landorus-T and defensive Zapdos, are appreciated so that Zamazenta can get in safely; the latter is especially useful for absorbing Flying-type moves and punishing Pokemon such as Sneasler and physical Iron Valiant with Static, negating any potential Speed boosts via Unburden or Booster Energy and enabling Zamazenta to revenge kill them. Due to Zamazenta preferring Leftovers, it is easily worn down by entry hazards. Great Tusk and Corviknight both provide hazard control, with the former also being able to set its own hazards to wear down the opposing team and the latter providing excellent defensive synergy, checking Fairy-types such as Azumarill. Wallbreakers that can muscle through Zamazenta's checks and weaken the opposing team are appreciated. Baxcalibur can help remove Zapdos thanks to its strong Ice-type STAB attacks, Choice Scarf Enamorus provides speed control against Dragapult with a Speed-boosting nature and has a favorable matchup against Iron Valiant, and Choice Specs Gholdengo helps cripple physically bulky Pokemon such as Dondozo with a combination of its sheer power and Trick. On hyper offensive teams, Curse Dragapult is a great screens setter due to its high Speed stat and ability to set up on more passive threats as well as get Zamazenta in safely by causing itself to faint with Curse.
