Made this team to build with my favourite mon polteageist. The idea of sweeping with a 1 hp mon always felt satisfying so I built this as my first psyspam having low hopes. Of course, regular psyspam has many holes such as dark types like kingambit, darkrai and especially ting-lu, other terrains, custap, mold breaker tinkaton etc. I built this team to try and be as flexible as psyterrain would allow. Reached my 2nd highest peak with this so I feel like this is definitely a more solid psyspam. Hope you enjoy!
publ (Indeedee) (M) @ Terrain Extender
Ability: Psychic Surge
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Expanding Force
- Dazzling Gleam
- Encore
- Healing Wish
After testing thoroughly, I felt like SPA was better than HP to break through common walls like alo, glowking, garg etc. I slapped on tera psychic for maximum power to have deadly stored powers. Encore allows you to punish failed sucker puches, or first impressions. Dgleam allows to catch dark type switches and Healing wish can allow Polteageist or another sweeper to have a second chance at sweeping. Standard set, didn't change anything else other than the evs at times. No other way of setting up psychic terrain and Indeedee M allows for stronger e-forces over Indeedee F.
Polteageist
oolong tea (Polteageist-Antique) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Weak Armor
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shell Smash
- Stored Power
- Shadow Ball
- Tera Blast
My GOAT. There is basically only one polteageist set to ever exist. It is single handedly the best psychic abuser and it hits insane numbers with stored power. Sending him in on a physical atker late game allows for insane comebacks. Of course, to outspeed threats like wake, I used timid to maximize speed but this set is pretty self explanatory. The only adjustment I ever made was to use tera fairy once but it didn't change too many interactions for the better. Dragonite still survives a +2 tera fairy blast, Kingambit doesn't die to a tera blast anymore. Still get walled by ting-lu (but what special atker doesn't) and a +2 tera fighting blast isn't even doing 80%. It using tera blast forces me to use less tera
Hatterene
cool hat (Hatterene) @ Eject Button
Ability: Magic Bounce

Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 208 Def / 52 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Mystical Fire
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Draining Kiss
Eject button worked better than custap healing wish IMO to save as many turns as possible in psychic terrain. Calm mind + Psyshock can destroy fat teams and basically forces a tera against stall. Mystical fire over nuzzle to hit corv and other steel types that would otherwise come in. The 208 defence EVs were to tank a Landorus's eq and allows it to safely come in on a samurott which is another threat to psyspam. Tera fire gives it a resist to steel to beat kingambit late game if it really came down to it or to make mystical fire do a bit more dmg. (I barely click tera on hatt anyways though)
Iron Boulder

- Mighty Cleave
This I feel is a major improvement to psyspam allowing you to outspeed so many threats. For example, Choice scarf meow originally terrorizes psyspam due to being a dark type, having a multi hit move, and having an insane speed tier and this can threaten meowscarada now. Some other threats this can beat are Darkrai, Pult (if u get an sd), Cinderace, Iron Moth, Ival etc. I chose to use cc over eq to pressure kingambit and ting-lu to tera more often so that it would ease prediction late game. Tera grass allows you to set up on ribombee on a stun spore, as well as ogerpon, and great tusk. Another niche is beating rain teams even harder (even we already have wellspring) as well as being able to get a hit off rillaboom. This mon certaintly allows for psyspam to be a stronger threat in the meta game IMO just because of its insane speed tier and psycho cut hitting crazy numbers.
Cinderace
bnuy (Cinderace) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Libero
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Pyro Ball
- U-turn
- Court Change
This was originally a maushold but using maushold was super inconsistent for me. Rocky helmets, ghost types all shut down its offensive capabilities and while tidy up is an awesome move, it doesn't feel too good at removing hazards due to the lack of boots due to being forced to use widelens. Cinderace HJK allows you to hit garg, kyurem, heatran, ting-lu. I experimented with charcoal and life orb to have insane pyro balls but ace was taking too much from hazards for my liking. Tera fighting feels a little weak in my opinion and I'm open to suggestions on what tera's to use over this. Libero over blaze because I'm using another strong move. This compliments ogerpons and iron boulder nicely as they are both able to beat mons like moltres and alo who wall cinderace. Another reason I added Cinderace was how they force out tinkaton, as well as the ability to have a second lead because Psyspam feels very predictable often. Many people lead ogerpon, weavile, h-rott and ting-lu on indeedee and Cinderace allows you to gain a bunch of momentum off these mons.
Ogerpon
spring well (Ogerpon-Wellspring) (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- Knock Off
- Trailblaze
- Swords Dance
While I hate this mon, I can't lie that this mon is carrying me offensively. I used the SD set to be able to set up on ting-lu in particular. Trailblaze allows you to outspeed pult, ace, and most pivots who spam U-turns off of ogerpon usually. It also is a great revenge killer and allows you to keep up the momentum after you lose a sweeper. Originally, I was using play rough on ogerpon when I was using eq on boulder but I wanted to be able to be able to pressure gholdengo as its typing is very strong against psyspam. This mon also destroys fat teams which polteageist sometimes has trouble breaking due to them having tera, unaware and phasing moves. This mon + hatterene + polteageist is basically a guaranteed win against stall.
Matchups:
This team had the goal of reducing psyspam's weaknesses so a lot of bad matchups will be drastically different.
Some of the worst ones are:
Scarf h-rott
Usually against H-rott, I would lead ace and hjk or u-turn based on matchup but scarf h-rott will hit an aqua cutter that basically turns the game into a 5v6. Basically H-rott is a free kill at the start because its impossible to tell what set it is. If this happens, I would usually set in well spring and try and get a revenge kill with sd or trailblaze but still a bad matchup.
D-dance Kyurem
Especially if this has scale shot, this can 6-0 my team just because all the mons on this team die to icicle spear and scale shot. The only way to really beat this would be to keep providing offensive pressure and not letting this setup. No real way to counter this because you don't know the set also.
Sand Teams
The only mon that can safely stop a speedy excadrill is ogerpon on this team and ogerpon cant keep switching in. Sash gets countered by sand too so polteageist is useless. Keeping well-spring alive is the only way to maybe beat sand or tera fighting polteageist on a zama.
Grassy terrain
While I added cinderace to attempt to counter g-terrain, it remains a bad matchup as it always will be. Rilla and lucha simply are deadly to most psyspam mons. Cinderace should make the chance of winning possible though or tera grassing boulder.
Dragapult
This mon is a faster pivot than cinderace and banded d-darts can really ruin this team. Winning against this is certainly possible due from wellspring trailblaze, a dd from boulder, polteageist getting a ss off etc.
Changes:
Originally I had indeedee m, polteageist, hatterene, maushold, blaziken and i-val or deoxys but this team felt so cheesy. Even though I peaked #23 with it, it felt significantly worse to play and there was no chance of outplaying bad matchups. So I chose cinderace for better speed tier, for the more consistent hazard removal, changed deoxys for iron boulder because blaziken's speed tier also felt too low and it also worked as a strong sweeper in psyspam. Wellspring felt like a stronger breaker even though it wasn't boosted by psyspam as it didn't get walled by ting-lu.
