I Killed My Azelf....

More than five tries and I still couldn't catch the stupid thing. This was at the point where I had already used my Master Ball for Dialga, and where I was all set to Pal Park. So I fainted it.

Anyone else have moments like this?

If it makes you feel better, I got crappy stats on my Azelf and am GTS trading until some shmuck gives me an uber IV one.

11 so far =(

Yeah, in Pearl I thought I had accidentally killed Cresselia when I at one time only saw one dot on the Poketch's Marking Map, but I found out I was wrong, and caught Cresselia in both games (with my Master Ball in Diamond), and Mespirit in Pearl, all on the same day. Ha.

I heard that if you allow Azelf to kill you that it will count as "seen" in the pokedex and it will still be there. That way you get it's dex entry and Pal Park master balls over.

Huh, would've been good to know at the time. It was one of the last pokemon I needed for my 'dex....

Yes, I did save before attempting to catch it. When I said "tried more than five times," I mean I had used at least 10 Ultra Balls on it, then soft-reseted because it had gotten three Nasty Plots in and was decimating my entire team.

i always take weavile with me when i go up against azelf, just SD up and false swipe the little bugger, then i switched to gengar hoping it that it wouldn't use confusion and hypnosised it. got it on the second ultra ball with a 27 Satk IV and a 23 Spd IV. oh yea 25 HP IV is nice too. the rest were poop but they don't matter

uhhh, i guess i probably went the safe way, fair or not. master ball'ed my dialga, and then Pal Parked myself a bunch of Emerald-cloned Master Balls. caught all my legendaries with nice natures and fair-to-good IVs

I got a decent Azelf with solid Defensive IVs, something that most people won't be expecting.
Something that helped me tremendously was my Bronzong. Bronzor is officially one of the most annoying Pokémon to raise, but its evolution's helpfulness is unmatched.

Uh why didint you just ask someone to trade you theirs and trade back so you have it in the pokedex and then pal park master balls?

I did the same thing. To azelf and Uxie. Then i mass pal parked clones rayquazas. Quite easy to trade a ray for an azelf.

I truly hate Azelf and its asshole buddy Uxie. I kept restarting and frustratingly catching the former over and over till I got a Modest one, which may have some training potential in the future. The latter was far worse, the first Uxie I caught was Adamant, but the next three times it suicided out of Struggle, by which point I would have accepted a Lonely one with 0 IVs. Finally, after it ate countless Ultra and Timer balls, I caught it, and after data-trading it with a friend, it was exiled to a box where it shall remained chained for eternity.

Mespirit remains at large ingame, but I already traded for my friend's one (with a Helix Fossil attached!) so that one can go to hell too.

Actually, Mesprit isn't that hard to track down in D/P. Just have a Master Ball and walk around near somewhere like Jubilife City with some Repels and I guarentee you will catch it within two minutes.

This is why Emerald is great - I used my Master Ball on Azelf, then cloned more in Emerald to catch the other stuff. :]

Funny, I found Uxie to be a hell of a lot harder to catch than Azelf. Uxie just wouldn't stay in the ball, while Azelf was a lot more compliant. It took me three SRs with Dusk Balls to catch a good Azelf; with Uxie it took about 20.

Why didn't you use Synchronizers on Azelf and Uxie? I got a decent Timid Azelf and Bold Uxie respectively in no time at all.

Isn't it that if you get killed while fighting Azelf, you'll have him in your Dex anyway? So you can just go commit suicide on 'em, and come back later once you've stocked your Master Balls.

Pal Park them from Emerald. For all the legendaries I used Luxray with Light Screen, Spark, and Flash(lame moves I know). Set up the screen, flash their accuracy down to zero, spark has a nice paralysis, then use Dusk Balls. They are actually more effective than ultra balls. After a while, timer balls work very well.

Just for laughs, I caught dialga on the first turn with a quick ball

Seriously though, if you plan on using any of them competitively, just use a master ball to save trouble. Azelf is good choice because you can pal park the post-national dex ones.

You can also use Dusk Balls instead of Master Balls. Bring in something that has x4 resistance to Psychic and a Sleep move, and good Special Defense (Bronzong is excellent for this), sleep him, bring it down to a low HP, and start to throw Dusk Balls. If it wakes up, sleep him again. You should catch it using an average of 11 Dusk Balls this way, so make sure you bring around 25 or 30 Dusk Balls to be on the safe side. (You have a 95.4% chance of catching it using up to 30 Dusk Balls this way. If you don't, then you're seriously unlucky.)

Don't use Ultra Balls; it makes it twice as harder to catch.

Well, I couldn't Pal Park yet, and my Master ball was all used up. But I've cloned some Mewtwos with pokerus, so I believe I have some trade fodder for Azelf.

I actually found Uxie easy to catch. I think it only took two Ultra Balls in the yellow. And Mesprit I caught after I Pal Parked some Master Balls.

Madness. I caught Uxie on my second try. it can't deal damage at all. Steelix+Dragon Breath Paralysis. Bold Nature, moderately good IVs. I gave up on azelf since it killed both Uxie and Steelix while I was trying to catch it. I got a gentle one with 31 DEF IV. GTS traded for a while and then got bored.

Lol. I can get u a 31 IV in SAtk and Spd one (Modest). I caught it myself. Azelf was easy. I havent bothered with Uxie or Mesprit yet. They dont appeal to me yet.

Bit harder than that. They move a bit more than usual. For instance, I saw Mesprit come in the right area. I used a Repel, and then it fled. It came again. This time I plunged into the grass and got into two battles before it - again - fled the area. I caught it twice, with a Master Ball, before realizing that its nature had already been set when I first saw it. So now I'm stuck with a Bold Mesprit. I had wanted a Modest one.

i was kinda curious: if i face off against azelf, and then lose on purpose (just to get its pokedex), if i go back to catch it later on (after pal park), will it be the same azelf statwise or is its stats/nature subject to randomization again?
