I am a yogibears. Hello and welcome to another RMT by me.
Teambuilding
So I'm not going to do my usual list each member but I more want to talk about how I got this almost final version. Back in January when Exhibition was still going on I was put in for either Week 1 or Week 2 against Sam I Yam, someone who I know and have previously faced in PUPL. When I build to play people, I actually put a lot more thought into it than people think. I'll scan replays an assess what they're overall weak to, along with determining the play styles that they're most likely to bring. I knew Sam would bring something along the lines of Spiritomb and Zangoose, especially with guidance from HJAD, so I knew I had to have a good matchup against those two. I decided to make several teams, one of which being this one, that all had generally nice tools for offensive teams; especially hyper offense. Now I was already sold on Scarf Aurorus as it completely annihilates offensive builds with a strong Blizzard and support in Thunder-Wave plus Flash Cannon, but then I stumbled on Basculin. With a Speed tier that was higher than average and a powerful Water-type STAB thanks to Adaptability I knew this would work. I added to the team with Pokemon like Clefairy and Choice Scarf Oricorio-G and was happy with the result.
After deciding not to use the team and opt for another, which I regret as I lost the game, I wanted to standardise my team. Basculin was replaced with Z move Floatzel and Aurorus was changed to Choice Specs. After updating sets and tweaking some small things, I finally got my end team...

The Team

standard set (Floatzel) @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Water Veil
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Liquidation
- Low Kick
- Ice Punch
While more consistent than Basculin, I feel like Floatzel is a mixed bag when it comes to results. Sometimes physical Floatzel is like, really good and just messes up teams, but then other times it's pretty much fodder and does borderline zero. With Fightinium Z Float can either use a one-time 160 BP Low Kick to nab a surprise kill against the likes of Ferroseed or Lanturn, if weakened, or it can use it with Bulk Up to get +2 Attack and +1 Defence in one turn. Moves are pretty standard and Water Veil means it can actually bop things like Sableye with Knock Off and Weezing, which rely on Will-O-Wisp to cripple physical attackers.

normal set (Aurorus) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Flash Cannon / Earth Power
- Thunder Wave / Frost Breath
- Freeze-Dry
One of my favourite Pokemon from ORAS NU, and now one of my favourite in USUM PU. Choice Specs Aurorus is a beast and smacks around so many teams due to the lack of Freeze-Dry resists in the tier. This set isn't actually that standard, even tho galbia thinks it is, and has two unusual moves featured. The first is Flash Cannon, and it's on the team to basically destroy opposing Aurorus and Carbink, but mainly the first. This is because people want to try and use Aurorus as their Ice resist, and I aint having that. Second is Twave and I just think being able to abuse para is great, especially predicting something like Taunt Magmortar to come in. You can replace them with things like Earth Power if you want tho.

usual set (Clefairy) @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
This Clefairy set incorporates many new meta trends, which I think both me and Dibs The Dreamer should be partially credited for, being Calm Mind + Stealth Rock and min Speed 0 IVs. Seriously this is the ultimate piece of role compression; acting as a wincon, status sponge/absorber, rock setter and specially defensive wall. With 0 Speed IVs and a hindering nature, you can now straight set up against Ferroseed without worrying about Gyro Ball almost bopping you each time. Calm Mind on Stealth Rock not only frees up your other slots a little more, but also gives you what I believe to be the most annoying Pokemon for stall to try and beat.

common set (Weezing) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 248 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Taunt
- Toxic Spikes
- Destiny Bond / Will-O-Wisp
Standard Weezing set to basically stop me instalosing to shit like Gurdurr and Skuntank. Considering what I need to check I really don't see the need for Will-O-Wisp and would rather take something like Gurdurr with me, so I took the Genzeon approach and used Destiny Bond. Rocky Helmet helps me abuse U-turn Pokemon like Primeape and Togedemaru. Toxic Spikes is really neat for crippling stuff for either Togedemaru or Floatzel later on.

popular set (Togedemaru) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Zing Zap
- U-turn
- Encore / Toxic
Legit my child. I made this set ages ago and when it got Iron Head in USUM it quickly caught on. Probably one of the best Choice Scarf mons in the tier thanks to good dual STABS and U-turn, along with annoying moves like Encore, Toxic and Nuzzle. Basically acts as a soft check to Volt Switch abusers and allows me to revenge stuff like +1 Lilligant and Jynx. I usually use Toxic as my 4th slot but I've found Encore to be just a slight bit more helpful against some set up Pokemon. Toxic is still gucci tho and I recommend that.

only set (Hitmonchan) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Atk / 48 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Mach Punch
- Rapid Spin
Super simple, good ol Assault Vest Hitmonchan. While not actually the best spinner, this thing stops me getting completely destroyed by both Taunt Pyroar and Magmortar, as they just mess so much with my other resist, Clefairy. Standard, standard set that is as bulky as possible while outspeeding Adamant base 50's like Aggron. Gives me a form of priority too and a way to remove hazards, though I often don't resort to actually spinning with Hitmonchan because of Mesprit, Spiritomb and company being so damn popular.
Threatlist
Gurdurr: Even though I do have a few checks, a good Gurdurr player is just so hard to properly play against. Often have to try and preserve Weezing or predict super aggressively with Aurorus and expect Knock Off for the Weezing predict.
Fire Spam: Any Fire-type spam can mess my team up, but if they have something like Pyroar + Magmortar then it's such a hard battle lol.
Skuntank: This thing is actually super annoying because it absorbs my Toxic Spikes and it easily forces out and Defogs on Clefairy.
Peak Proof
