Throughout the extent of this metagame Hypno has always been disregarded with its potential. It is an amazing and dangerous baton passer. Look here:

Hypno @ Salac Berry
Nature: Timid
Evs: 252 HP / 252 Spe / 4 Def
~Hypnosis
~Substitute
~Baton Pass
~Nasty Plot / Calm Mind / Trick Room / Rain Dance / Barrier

With Timid nature and 252 EVs on speed, Hypno is able to reach a speed of 256, which outspeeds many common threats. With Salac its speed raises to 384, enough to outspeed Jolly Weavile.

You can easily Substitute on something like Bronzong, Hypnosis and put it to sleep. Then Nasty Plot and sub until salac and efficiently Baton Pass both speed and Sp.atk.

It can also be a viable Trick Room and Rain Dance supporter. You can also use Barrier and Baton Pass to something like Blissey and Calm Mind with Blissey and sweep with ease.

Hypno can work out its pwnage-ness at late game mostly. Being able to outspeed many threats and ending the game after scouting your opponents team.

What makes Hypno more viable than Smeargle? Well Hypno is very bulky and can take a hit to achieve salac raise. Hypno also has Insomnia, making it a great Pokemon being immune to getting slept.

I've tested this Pokemon many times on Shoddy and it works great. I am really surprised why it is an UU Pokemon and it lacks usage. I hope this can show many of you that Hypno is a really viable Baton Passer.

What do you guys think?

Belly Drum is illegal with Baton Pass, Drum comes from NYPC, BP from Pokemon XD, so I guess remove Belly Drum from the options...

well, sleep blocking and blocking roar are two entirely different things, but having soundproof would likely be far more beneficial to a BPer than stopping sleep. Both do have their advantages though, so I may give this a try in UU.

you cant use belly drum with baton pass, however i use a similar hypno to this in UU TR as a lead.
Modest@leftovers
Insomnia
252hp/252def/4spdef
batton pass
nasty plot
phychic
trick room

bulky defence IV's make it hard to stop, and imsomnia is always a nice ability to have on a lead, i use it to pull off clamperl sweep, shame belly drum isn't allowed, it and bannette (insomnia again) would be agonizingly good, it is definatly underated as a pokemon.

Why would I use this over Mr. Mime who has an ability that blocks roar?

Mr.Mime doesn't have access to Insomnia, nor it is Bulky to take much of a hit. And has no direct +2 sp.atk boost like hypno's Nasty Plot.

Although it does have Soundproof to avoid being roared it doesn't have much capabilities to efficiently baton pass and win with ease.

Ok. Nice set. Why did you not post it in the creative moveset thread or posted an analysis in the corrections and contributions section of the forum.

Well, for the record Hypno does not learn Recover...

Mr. Mime does have better overall speed however, and gets a useful move in Encore.

Smeargle has pretty much an unlimited movepool, which is why it gets usage in OU.

Hypno isn't a bad Pokemon, but it does its best in UU.

you could skill swap off insomnia. Don't forget he can learn Thunder Wave too. Hypno could be good, but more people will bring a Dark type, Ghost or Bug type.

The problem is that it cant do a thing against any pokemon with taunt.

Well, chances of a pokemon using/ having Taunt in UU and even OU is low. Gyarados, De-E, Drapion, Crobat, ... Heatran, and ...... Bastiodon. Point being taunt users are generally easy to pick out and of course they wreck ANY type of Baton Passing.

I had somebody use this against me today, and I have to say it worked very well and did set up a sweep, but that was really only because I did not expect my 252 EV Glaceon to be slower than a Hypno, so I basically gave my opponent a free set up, but yeah, I could see this working if only because most people, like I did, will assume Hypno is being used a special wall/support pokemon, so he has they surprise factor going for him. They might even try to use the opportunity to switch in something like Claydol and attempt to set up Stealth Rock, which basically gives you an 100% free set up.

I really like it, and I can see it working. You should really bring this up in Contributions of Hypno Article, because this is a better set for Passing than what is suggested in there. Hypnosis really helps in blocking phazers. Unfortunately, Taunt is annoying, but hopefully the team can deal with Taunt somehow.

If you're going Trick Room, however, you would actually want Hypno to be slow so that it can move first on the second turn of TR (unless you want to move second).

Lol...

Hypno learns all of that.

Where does Hypno learn Recover? Pretty key move there. And Hypno can't get Wish and Baton Pass (though I have run into illegal baton-wish hypno's on Shoddy . . .).

Still, recover aside, I'd say Hypno's greater Bulkiness and Insomnia to let it switch into things like Roserade freely are major assets. Even with Filter I don't see Mr. Mime standing up to Gengar's shadowball anyway. To get this off, you've got to be able to come in and force out something.

If you can, this'll work. Question is how many pokes in OU are intimidated enough by Hypno to have to flee? I can't really think of many off the top of my head.
