Despite its above-average Special Defense and access to Wish, fierce competition from Audino relegates Hypno to taking on a more offensive role. With its decent special bulk, Hypno can utilize Hypnosis to gain free turns and set up Belly Drum safely. However, banking on Hypno to land Z-Hypnosis in the first place combined with the fact Hypno is still outsped at +1 by nearly every relevant Choice Scarf user makes it a bad setup sweeper to waste giving the Z-Crystal to. Hypno also is unable to break through certain Pokemon such as defensive Mesprit, Spiritomb, and Sableye.

Hypno should use Z-Hypnosis followed with Belly Drum and attempt to sweep. Despite not really being directly outclassed by anything due to the void of physical Psychic-types, in general offensive Psychic-types such as Mesprit and Alolan Raichu do a much better job at offensively pressuring the opposing team, reliably setting up, and making use of the Z-Crystal.

While it is also not the only Pokemon to get access to Belly Drum + a sleep-inducing, Speed-boosting Z-move, Hypno's can use its bulk to more reliably set up. However, banking on Hypno to land Z-Hypnosis in the first place combined with the fact Hypno is still outsped at +1 by nearly every relevant Choice Scarf user makes it an unreliable Z Crystal user.(its not rlly a bad z crystal user, but moreso a bad mon to waste ur z move on)(and setup mon)

While it is also not the only Pokemon to get access to Belly Drum + a sleep-inducing, Speed-boosting Z-move, Hypno's can use its bulk to more reliably set up (this sentence is really awkward to read out, particularly the beginning, since you kinda just ramble about how it's not the only thing with belly drum + z-sleep when the only other viable user is like poliwrath, which it doesn't even use. Instead I'd just say it can use its okay special bulk and access to hypnosis to attempt a belly drum set, short and easier to digest.) However, banking on Hypno to land Z-Hypnosis in the first place combined with the fact Hypno is still outsped at +1 by nearly every relevant Choice Scarf user makes it a bad setup sweeper to waste giving the Z Crystal on.
