HITMONLEE
Name: Hitmonlee
Type: Fighting
Ability: Limber / Reckless (Unburnden)
Base Stats: 50 / 120 / 53 / 35 /110 / 87
[Pros]
>Great attack stat
>Special defense also half decent to get at least some defense against psychic types
>Diverse type coverage in terms of physical terms
>Has Hi-Jump Kick + STAB + attack stat
>Bulk up also gives it more attack as well as spare defense
[Cons]
>Is outsped and outbulked by a lot of other fighting types
>Can be easily walled unless you have a backup special move
>Is vulnerable to status moves
>Is also outsped by many special attackers, though not that many
>Abilities aren’t much
[Set Recommendations]
name: Get in and get out
move 1: Hi-Jump kick
move 2: Sucker Punch
move 3: Blaze Kick / Retalitate
move 4: Poison Jab / Mega Kick
ability: Limber
item: Choice Band
evs: 252 Atk / 124 SpD / 132 HP
nature: Adamant
This set has a basic idea: Get in, do some damage, get out without taking too much. Since it won’t be in too long it doesn’t need to switch moves around too much, so the choice band powers up the moves without too much to sacrifice for it. The moveset should be pretty simple to understand: Physical moves galore. Not too much variety needed, but the rundown is that it needs plenty of moves so it can be thrown out at anything. Well, almost anything. As for the ability… They were not very generous with these. Limber is… Okay. Ish. Reckless is near useless since there are like 2 recoil moves he can learn. Unburden is probably the best one since it can be used as a physical sweeper set along with a berry or other consumables. However, since this is a “quick play” set with a choice band, our best bet is probably limber.
Hi jump kick is here for STAB and a great surprise attack. Sucker Punch is a must due to psychic types and the ghost immunity to fighting. Slot three is depending: If you plan to switch him around, use Retalitate, as it’ll be great when sent out after a knockout. Blaze kick is here if you want to keep him out there for a bit, and can help against walls like Registeel or Skarmory (although Hitmonlee vs Skarmory is a terrible situation) since it can both burn and deal crits more easily. In the last slot, it just depends on whether you need more type coverage (Especially fairies) or just more all out attacking power.
Attack EV’s are a must. SpD is flexible and can be exchanged for something else depending on your “taste.” HP is here due to it’s speed, as it must be able to take a few hits before it starts hitting. Of course, there are more options. Here is another.
name: Physisweep
move 1: Brick Break
move 2: Bulk up
move 3: Sucker Punch
move 4: Earthquake
ability: Unburden
item: Berries / Gems
evs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Hp
nature: Adamant
Let’s go trough this quick.
Moveset? Pretty stander physical sweeper stuff. Set up with bulk up and go wreck everyone’s shift. Everything else is here to guarantee both type coverage and an OHKO almost against a boosted wall. Of course things like Jellicent could always wall it but it’s just one. Maybe more. Heh… Brick break instead of Hi-jump Kick because of screens and the chance of missing in crucial situations. Unburden is EXTREMELY useful here because sweeper. Berries are here in case anyone like Thundurus, Trick room Reuniclus or other try to mind game it, and Gems are here to give it a little more “mmph” to it’s attack, and both are here to easily activate unburden.
The EV’s should be obvious: Fast-Physical-Sweeper = Speed-Attack-HP. Adamant nature because he won’t be using special attack anyway, unless you want to put Hidden Power on it, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
[Other Options]
…Rapid Spin? I don’t know…
Perhaps Choice Scarf and run some different moves on it? It sort of worked in gen V. Sort of. Paralysis could slow it down and knock off it’s semi-decent speed, so limber is also a good option. Maybe even pursuit and then play some mind games against enemy ghost types.
[Checks and Counters]
Let’s admit it. This thing is easily walled. Really easily. Only thing that could help it here is a switch, and in a situation where a ghost type can mean look it, it rarely has a positive outcome. Misdreavus, Rotom, and Spiritomb are good Ghost-types, and can all use Will-O-Wisp which can really throw it off it’s game. Many other Psychic types can also wall it such as Slowbro or Alakazam, though with the new Mega for Alakazam, it’s rare to see a wall Alakazam. Another great threat to Hitmonlee is Weezing, due to both it’s typing AND it’s ability which blocks out Earthquake and Bulldoze. Priority moves are also a pain due to it’s low physical bulk. It’s defensive assets are better invested in SpD.

Well, that’s it. This was my first ever overview, so all and any suggestions are nice and appreciated. Just don’t be too mean, since I’m very new to competitive. :D
