I really think this guy has alot of potential in the the fourth generation. It's got a great movepool and really nice offensive capabilities.

Sorry, can't take the time to make EVs for all of them right now.

Discuss!

Well, he's definetly got the stats. And his movepool has been greatly improved.

He fits the bill if you're looking for a physical fire attacker that isn't /fighting.

He gets Dragon Pulse which is a notable item, since between Dragon Pulse and Flamethrower you can neutral hit everything... Thats always a plus

You are also supposed to give us different movesets that we can discuss, not just give us his stats and all the moves he learns...

I guess i can give it a quick try...

Arcanine @ Life Orb
Intimidate or Flash Fire (both have their benefits)
Flare Blitz
Extreme Speed
Crunch/reversal/Iron Tail
Overheat

Not the greatest set, but i came up with it fast, reversal works in tandem with flare blitz and life orb, and its pretty much suicidal, but it helps against t-tar, so does iron tail...

How about this (short notice but at least its a try)

Special Leaning Arcanine
Arcanine@Leftovers(?)
Nature: Timid
EVs: 176 Speed, 252 SA, Rest in HP/Defenses as you like
Ability: Intimidate or Flash Fire (depends on what you want from it)
Moveset
- Flamethrower
- Dragon Pulse
- WoW
- Extremespeed

Timid + 176 Speed to outspeed Jolly Cross uhh... Special Leaning Setup, Simple I think Its not the best setup obviously, but its a good try on short notice

I suppose you didn't read the last part of my post. I standardly take the time to design the EVs for what it's supposed to counter, but if you'd like I can just provide Natures and Traits, leaving the EVs out for now.

then couldnt u just wait and put the movesets along with the rest of the post? they've always ask you to put a moveset, most threads that discussed a pokemon and didnt put one got locked

life orb+flare blitz is just gonna get yourself killed, especially with sandstorm and a stealth rock weakness.

10% recoil from life orb
Recoil from a stabbed 120 bp move from 110 attack.
Stealth rock weakness
Sandstorm damage

this works out at about 50% at the least.

Arcanine definitely gains a boost with physical STAB (and is still cool), but I highly doubt it'll become a standard.

HP Grass works on the special sets imo to stop Swampy.

Thunder fang's base power still sucks, and bulky waters still utterly own any physical Arcanine.

Just a quick question, why are you typing in red?

Well, I tried to look through your movesets, but the obnoxious color and font made my eyes say "no". I personally like this one:

@Life Orb
Hasty / Intimidate
Flamethrower
Dragon pulse
Extreme Speed
Will-O-Wisp

So...

Arcanine %(Leftovers or Scope Lens or something) -- (Adamant or Jolly)
Intimidate
4HP/252 ATK/252 SPD

Flare Blitz
Extremespeed
Thunder Fang / Crunch
Will-o-wisp

Simple physical sweeper with a status afflicting bonus. You could also slash out Will-o-wisp for the missing Thunder Fang/Crunch if you really want to.

289(317 Nature) for Arcanine's speed is not shabby at all. Along with it's monstrous attack set at 319(350 Nature), a lot of things can unfold. The intimidate helps a little bit to help Arcanine withstand its super common weaknesses known as Ground, Rock, and Water. Will-o-wisp as a TM now becomes Arcanine's savior.

If infernape wasn't around, I would use this guy in an instant. Flare blitz really gave him a good stab and a chance to shine. If not for infernape, I think he would see a lot more play.

Heatran resists Flameclaw (and flamepulse by default).

Though yes it did get a nice boost. I'm thinking of an agility sweep set, very nice with SD passes.

Arcanine @ Leftovers/Life Orb/Expert Belt
EVs: 252 Atk / 200 Spd / 58 HP
Nature: Adamant (Atk+/SAtk-)
- Flare Blitz/Fire Fang (Fire Fang recommended on LO sets)
- Thunder Fang
- Agility
- Crunch

I like Expert Belt sets because they do not have the deadly recoil from the Life Orb. Flare Blitz + Life Orb = you dying so I don't like it.

Needs more Choice Speed set.

Maybe even with endure + reversal, Arcanine, with that speed and that attack is the most likely pokemon to use choice speed well.

To hit Heatran, (if you really wanted to use it against heatran) just add Thunder Fang instead of Extremespeed, then just for the Paralysis chance.

Infernape isn't automatically superior to Arcanine though, mainly in the fact that Arcanine has better defenses and higher HP to withstand the recoil from Flare Blitz.
