Hi I’m fairly new to competitive Pokémon and I don’t expect this to be a hugely successful team comp but I can’t stand seeing the same teams over and over. I’m trying to put together a team but I’m not sure about a couple things so any feedback from more experienced players would be greatly appreciated.. thanks for your time.
The Team..
Grapploct (Limber or Tech) w/ Leftovers - Jolly
252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Protect
- Soak
- Octolock
- Taunt
I’ve seen Eviolite Corsola used in a similar comp many times but I honestly feel that Grapploct can fill this role better, but again I’m inexperienced. I think the addition to the fighting type and ability to lower defenses will be very helpful
Lapras (water absorb) w/ Aguav Berry - Bold
244 HP / 140 Def / 124 SpD
- Freeze Dry
- Brine
- Protect
- Perish Song
One of my Favorite mons and the core to this idea. Perish Song with a bulky Mon. Ice Type to potentially freeze with Nice Hp Pool and defense.
Cursola (Perish Body) w/ Eject Butt - Quiet
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
- Protect
- Strength Sap
- Whirlpool
- Shadow Ball
Another core user with the Ability Perish Body. Also pretty tanky with good sustain with Strength Sap. And Whirlpool to lock them in. Could also be easily sacrificed with Whirlpool and it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
Darmanitan (Gorilla Tactics) w/ Choice - Jolly
252 Att / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Uturn
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch / Thunder Punch
- Flare Blitz
Sweeper of the group with good coverage options and a high damage output. Gorilla Tactics is just far too strong to pass up. Choice item gives it a healthy amount of speed with a high damage output.
Snorlax (Gluttony) w/ Wiki Berry/Lap - Relaxed
244 HP / 12 Att / 252 Def
- Belly Drum / Recycle
- Body Slam / Facade
- Protect / Curse
- Crunch / Darkest Lariat
My favorite all time Pokémon although I’m not too sure how to use him here. Also coincidentally just happened to be my first Shiny. Super Tanky with good damage output. Good Sustain too. Able to take the big hits and dish it out.
Gothitelle (ShadowTag)w/ Lapapa Berry - Sassy
244 HP / 180 Def / 84 SpD
- Fake Out
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Protect
Yet another Trapper for the team and polishing out the core idea. I went with Goth over Dugtri due to Trick Room and the ability to trap flying type. Also adds Psychic type to the team and bulkier than Dugtrio.
So that’s the team. If anything stands out I would love to hear any feedback. I’m also not sure what to use as far as a lead. Obviously this isn’t an original concept for a team but I have tried to not copy any team flat out and I’ve tried to take the idea and make it my own. Also if anyone knows of any resources that I could browse to get a notion of what works for certain mons or team building concepts please let me know. Gothitelle for instance was modeled after a video of a comp that was similar which used a Gengar but it was doubles so I don’t know if it will transfer over to singles properly. I know this was a long post and I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to read and help me through this. If no one has told you today that they appreciate you please know that I do.
