Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flame Body / Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Grass
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Tera Blast
While lead sets are more dedicated at guaranteeing Stealth Rock, this set allows Heatran to be a better offensive wallbreaker as well! Equipped with an Air Balloon, Heatran can easily threaten the most powerful spinner, Excadrill. Earth Power can nail Fire-types such as Skeledirge and opposing Heatran as well as Toxapex. Tera Blast Grass gives Heatran fantastic coverage at the cost of its Weavile and Lokix matchups, nailing Water-types such as Slowking, Rotom-W, and Quaquaval while also popping Air Balloon on opposing Heatran. Flame Body allows Heatran to punish Pokemon such as the aforementioned Weavile and Lokix, but Flash Fire is the better option if you'd rather focus on checking Fire-types such as Skeledirge and opposing Heatran. Hydrapple is arguably Heatran's best partner, as it can easily take on Pokemon Pokemon such as Greninja and Excadrill, while Heatran can switch into threats such as Lokix and Scizor. Thunder Wave Slowking can check Excadrill, Tornadus-T, and Cobalion. Tornadus-T has the ability to check Greninja and Hydrapple and appreciates Heatran's ability to trap and punish Skeledirge and Slowking.
