VGC Heatran

:heatran:
[OVERVIEW]

* Heatran is a niche bulky offensive threat thanks to its solid stats and great typing, bolstered by Flash Fire. This makes Heatran have an incredible matchup against most of the metagame, such as Flutter Mane and Gholdengo.

* Rillaboom is a great partner for Heatran, as it resists Heatran's prominent weaknesses, while also hitting Pokemon like Ogerpon-W and Urshifu-R for huge damage. Heatran also pairs well with Ogerpon-W, which supports Heatran with Follow Me, as well as threatening Urshifu-R and Landorus.

* Although Heatran resists a lot of attacks with its typing, it's weak to both of the Urshifu formes, Ogerpon-W, Landorus, and Iron Hands. Heatran also faces tough Fire- and Steel- competition, especially with Incineroar.

[SET]
Heatran @ Leftovers / Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
Level: 50
Tera Type: Grass / Fairy
EVs: 228 HP / 84 Def / 156 SpA / 20 SpD / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Heat Wave / Magma Storm
- Flash Cannon
- Earth Power
- Protect

[SET COMMENTS]

* The combination of Heatran's STAB moves, Heat Wave and Flash Cannon, can hit a lot of Pokemon in the metagame super-effectively, while Earth Power is a good coverage move that can hit Pokemon that resist Heatran's STAB combination, like Incineroar. Magma Storm is also another option as a Fire-type attack, as it traps the opponent, which works well with Leftovers.

* Leftovers is a good item choice for Heatran, as it can live two Shadow Balls from Flutter Mane with a Special Attack-Booster Energy, and with Rillaboom's Grassy Surge, Heatran can constantly restore HP. Life Orb can increase Heatran's damage output, making it more of a threat.

* 228 HP, 84 Defense EVs, and 20 Special Defense EVs allow Heatran to take an Ivy Cudgel from Ogerpon-W, almost always survives a Sludge Bomb from Landorus after Heatran Terastallizes and Life Orb recoil, and finally, with 20 Speed EVs, Heatran outspeeds both Urshifu formes after a Speed drop.

* Tera Grass is an excellent Tera type for Heatran, allowing it to resist Water- and Ground-type moves from the likes of Pokemon like Urshifu-R and Landorus. Tera Fairy can allow Heatran to resist Urshifu-S's STAB moves and be a neutral type against the metagame.

[OVERVIEW]

* With great defensive typing and offensive capabilities, Heatran is known as a bulky offensive Pokemon that has good matchups against several threats in the metagame, like Flutter Mane and Rillaboom. (I think this sentence is better reversed, saying "Heatran is x thanks to y and z. It's a great counter to.." flows better for the Pokemon as the introduction is so short.)

* Rillaboom is a great partner for Heatran, as it resists Heatran's prominent weaknesses, while also hitting Pokemon like Ogerpon-W and Urshifu-R super-effectively for huge damage. (Ogerpon isn't weak to it and U-turn doesn't matter when it doesn't hit nearly as hard as Wood Hammer.) Heatran also pairs well with Ogerpon-W is also a good partner to pair with, supporting Heatran with its Grass / Water typing, and Follow Me, as well as threatening Urshifu-R and Landorus, allowing Heatran to be less vulnerable and letting it set up moves like Substitute. (First part wasnt specific and was kind of worded as dex info, Substitue isn't a good move on Heatran.)

* Although Heatran can resists a lot of attacks with its typing, it's weak to Water-, Fighting- and Ground-type moves, which makes Heatran weak to (Kind of obvious when you just mention threats, and better off as removed imo. though you can keep it if you're adamant its important.) both of the Urshifu formes, Ogerpon-W, Landorus, and Iron Hands. Heatran also faces tough Fire- and Steel- competition, especially against with Incineroar.\

* Heatran fits well on teams, mostly balance teams, that can utilize its defensive typing.
(Just unnecessary ig.)

* Leftovers are is a good item choice for Heatran, as with the given investment, allows Heatran to avoid the 2HKO from Special Attack Booster Energy Flutter Mane, and with Rillaboom's Grassy Surge, Heatran can constantly restore HP. Life Orb can increase Heatran's damage output, making it more of a threat.

* 228 HP and 28 Defense EVs allow Heatran to live take an Ivy Cudgel from Ogerpon-W, and if the Heatran is holding the Leftovers, it can live two Shadow Balls from Flutter Mane with a Special Attack-Booster Energy (Moved this up so the items could be less like Dex info.) and with 20 Special Defense EVs, Heatran almost always survives a Sludge Bomb from Modest Landorus after Heatran Terastallizes into a Grass- or a Fairy-type and Life Orb recoil, (My mistake here, this is a more realistic calc, and Tera types are obvious if they are the only options.) and finally, with 20 Speed EVs, Heatran outspeeds both Urshifu formes after a Speed drop.

* Tera Grass is an excellent Tera type for Heatran, allowing it to resist Water- and Ground-type moves from the likes of Pokemon like Urshifu-R and Landorus. Tera Fairy can allow Heatran to resist Fighting-type moves from Pokemon like both of the Urshifu formes and Iron Hands Urshifu-S's STAB moves and be a neutral type against the metagame. (Urshifu-R is never clicking CC in an ots sense and Iron Hands is a lot less relevant right now.)
