With a limit on the number of recovery moves (and chills) being standard in matches, it is essential that "recovery move" is properly defined and/or enumerated. A Poison Heal Pokemon using a poisoning move on itself counts as a recovery move by virtue of the ability description so we won't be voting on that. However, there are many other moves that, while they all restore HP, function quite differently to each other, and so some of them do count as recovery moves for the purpose of restrictions such as 2 recovers / 5 chills and some don't.

Now is when we decide which ones do count and which don't. Below is a list of moves and move categories that could be considered recovery moves, in some cases specifying whose recovery move count they would count against:
  • Direct Heals
  • Roost
  • Rest
  • Draining Moves
  • Leech Seed
  • Swallow
  • Aqua Ring and Ingrain
  • Pain Split
  • Heal Pulse (counts for user)
  • Heal Pulse (counts for target)
  • Wish (counts for user)
  • Wish (counts for target)
  • Healing Wish and Lunar Dance (counts for user)
  • Healing Wish and Lunar Dance (counts for target)
The Direct Heals category contains the moves Heal Order, Milk Drink, Moonlight, Morning Sun, Recover, Slack Off, Softboiled and Synthesis.

The Draining Moves category contains the moves Absorb, Drain Punch, Dream Eater, Giga Drain, Horn Leech, Leech Life and Mega Drain.

How this vote is going to work

Post in bold everything in the above list (in whatever order you like) that you believe should count as a recovery move. Anything that gets 5 or more votes will henceforth count as a recovery move. Got that? OK, go!

Oh, and you had your opportunity to bring up anything that might have been forgotten in the discussion thread. If there is something that has been forgotten, bring it up in the feedback thread and we will vote on it separately.

imo, recoveries should be moves that increase HP without decreasing HP. Lunar Dance & Healing Wish cause the user to faint—which involve reducing HP—so it is inconsistent with this definition. Such recoveries should only count towards the user since they are using it, not the target.

Might as well make sure the last one is accounted for.

I believe we have majority (5 votes) on all the questions, so I will go ahead and tally the votes.

Direct Heals 8y: YES
Roost 8y: YES
Rest 8y: YES
Draining Moves 7n: NO
Leech Seed 8n: NO
Swallow 7Y: YES
Aqua Ring and Ingrain 7y: YES
Pain Split 6n: NO
Heal Pulse 8y: YES
Heal Pulse (User x Target): 6Ux2T: USER
Wish 8y: YES
Wish (User x target) : 6Ux2T: USER
Healing Wish and Lunar Dance 6n: NO

Direct Heals (Heal Order, Milk Drink, Moonlight, Morning Sun, Recover, Slack Off, Softboiled and Synthesis), Roost, Rest, Swallow, Aqua Ring, Ingrain, Heal Pulse (counts for User) and Wish (Counts for user) are healing moves.

Draining moves (Absorb, Drain Punch, Dream Eater, Giga Drain, Horn Leech, Leech Life and Mega Drain), Leech Seed, Pain Split, Healing Wish and Lunar Dance aren't healing moves.

Regenerator chill and stuff we forgot are forever in limbo until we remember to hold another vote.

Now someone with powers go edit this in, k?
