Hello, i'm pretty new to this whole thing and I am trying to build a hail team that can work for mainly singles but could flex to doubles for in game since I think the take 3 would be too limiting for a hail team.
Glaceon @ Assault Vest
Ability: Ice Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Blizzard
- Shadow Ball
- Hyper Voice
Glaceon is here to be a special sweeper that synergizes with the team. With a lowish speed stat relative tankiness and synergy with hail it seemed like an ideal fit.
I have freeze dry to counter water types, blizzard for damage, shadowball to counter dragapults, Hyper voice because I wasn't sure what else to put with an assault vest.
Overall I think glaceon fits well into the team but I may need to re-evaluate moveset and item choice
Abomasnow @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Giga Drain
- Leech Seed
- Protect
Abomasnow is meant to be one of my leads and my hail setter.
I have aurora veil to help add tankiness to the team, giga drain and leech seed for sustain and protect to help wait out opponent dynamaxes
Overall I think my ev placement for abomasnow could probably use work and i'm not sure about protect and aurora veil being good fits however I figured aurora veil would be a good fit because of hail synergy.
Eiscue @ Aguav Berry
Ability: Ice Face
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Icicle Crash
- Liquidation
- Protect
Eiscue is meant to be my physical sweeper with trick room setup
I have belly drum to buff, icicle crash to reset hail if needed, liquidation for type coverage and protect in case i need to wait out a turn to reset hail for my ice block
Overall I have found It incredibly hard to get eiscue actually set up to sweep and im not sure if it is due to my own misplays or if I should change his moveset.
Reuniclus @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick Room
- Thunder Wave
- Psyshock
- Flash Cannon
This is my trick room setter
I have trick room, thunder wave to help stop opposing threats psyshock for some damage if needed as well as flash cannon for fairy types.
I think I should change reuniclus to a tank but honestly I have no idea which pokemon would be ideal for tanking what between abomasnow and reuniclus between phys and special so I could use some advice there.
Hatterene (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Mystical Fire
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Dark Pulse
Hatterene is basically just here for mystical fire so i have some way to deal with ice types and ferrothorns
Theres mystical fire for the type coverage as well as psychic and dazzling gleam to deal damage to opposing fighting and dark types with dark pulse for additional type coverage
Aegislash @ Life Orb
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak
- Swords Dance
Aegisslash is my backup sweeper if eiscue fails to work out. Honestly not sure what to do with this guy or if he is a good fit but I figure i need a backup plan if eiscue won't work.
I have iron head to deal with fairy's, sacred sword for the max knuckle dynamax affect and shadow sneak for dragapults and sword dance to buff up/
I should probably switch out a skill for king's shield but I am not sure which one, probably shadow sneak?
Overall I am very new to team building and do not know alot of the pokemon and their abilities so if anybody has advice for things I can change out or optimize it would be greatly appreciated.
