Grookey is back to its monkey business in Little Cup! Excelling in role compression, Grookey functions as an offensive pivot with U-turn, crucial 17 Speed tier, Knock Off for removing Eviolite, and most importantly the strongest priority move in the metagame in Grassy Glide enabled by Grassy Surge; the latter also turns Wood Hammer into an extremely powerful wallbreaking tool, especially with Tera Grass, and provides extra sustainability for Grookey and its teammates. Furthermore, while Grass isn't known for being the best defensive type, it makes Grookey a decent check for the top threat Hisuian Voltorb as well as other LC mainstays like Toedscool. Like other Grass-types, Grookey's biggest issues are Vullaby and U-turn users, so a teammate like Glimmet that beats both and benefits from Grassy Terrain is a great choice. Similarly, Hisuian Voltorb also makes a great partner, completing a VoltTurn core while receiving healing and a power boost on Giga Drain from Grassy Terrain, an extra source of resilience for what is already the strongest pivot in the metagame.
