Grimmsnarl (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Darkest Lariat
- Superpower / Sucker Punch
- Trick
Choice Band Grimmsnarl is a wicked wallbreaker because of its high Attack stat backed by a unique STAB combination in Play Rough and Darkest Lariat. Play Rough hits Fairy- and Fighting-types like Togekiss, Gardevoir, and Heracross. Darkest Lariat synergizes well with it, as it hits Fairy-resistant Pokemon such as Crobat and Volcanion while also checking defensive setup sweepers like Reuniclus and Registeel. Superpower targets bulky Steel-types like Registeel, Stakataka, and Steelix and Dark- and Normal-types like Incineroar and Snorlax. However, Sucker Punch is an alternative to revenge kill faster Pokemon like Flygon, Mimikyu, and Xurkitree. Trick immobilizes defensive Pokemon like Galarian Weezing and Klefki; with Prankster, it can also cripple faster threats like Togekiss and Crobat. Grimmsnarl's poor Speed leaves it threatened by faster Pokemon like Togekiss, Nidoqueen, and Volcanion, making it most effective when brought in against slower Pokemon like Metagross, Gastrodon, and Umbreon by pivots like Crobat, Rotom-C, and Flygon. Fire-, Poison-, and Steel-types like Chandelure, Nidoqueen, and Stakataka also make great teammates to check Fairy-types that threaten Grimmsnarl.
