"Green" Team- First Smogon RMT!

So I was just fooling around with a mono-color offensive team on PS, to see if it could even be marginally viable. So I started off with Breloom, my personal favorite and worked from there. This is what I came up with:

598.png
579.png
248.png
212.png
dragonite.png

But Dragonite wasn't really carrying his own weight, and Tar's Sandstorm plus SR and crap was really giving him trouble. I needed a spinner that could still maintain an offensive prescence. Enter Starmie:

...Okay, maybe that ruins the green thing, but you can't have them all.

So without further ado...

THE TEAM

Breloom.png

Look@MyHat (Breloom) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 12 HP/ 244 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Spore
- Substitute
- Seed Bomb
- Focus Punch

MY PRECIOUS. SubPunch Breloom is just a goddamn monster. STAB Focus Punch behind a Sub sends things packing. Getting him in is simple: Find a wall, switch in against a non-statusing move, and Sub in their face. Chansey and Blissey hate this guy, because he just Spores, subs on the switch, then gets to Spore AGAIN on the switch in while they Natural Cure their sleep. Being immune to status and healing 2x Leftovers while behind a sub just makes this guy so wonderful to use.

ferrothorn.jpg

Bonk (Ferrothorn) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Atk / 76 Def / 100 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
IVs: 0 Spd
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Gyro Ball

This guy is just so damn useful. Locked Outrage Mence or Dragonite? Have some Iron Barbs to go with that confusion. Got a rain team getting you down? Leech Seed, Protect, Gyro Ball, Protect, etc. Toxic stall team? Give them some Spikes to go with that immunity. With my team being quite offensively inclined, Ferrothorn's gotta have the extra 80 Attack EV's, just give him a little more oomph in those balls he's throwing around to deal with dragons and opposing Tyranitar quite nicely. If I'm stuck against some sweeper that's gonna outspeed the rest of my team, this guy pulls through for me.

reuniclus.png

Switcheroo (Reuniclus) @ Life Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 192 HP / 64 Def / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature (+SpA, -Spe)
IVs: 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball

DD one more time, I DARE you! This guy just throws off so many other offensive teams, Trick Room helps him set himself up for a nice sweep while still maintaining some bulk. If he gets taken down or someone switches in a counter, Trick Room ends up supporting my team quite well: Outside of Starmie, Breloom at base 70 Speed is my fastest guy, and Trick Room allows him and everyone else to surprise faster sweepers and take them down. Trick Room isn't essential to my team, but having it set up throws the opponent off and can usually give me at least a one or two Pokemon advantage. Reuniclus is just such a beast when it comes to offense though, LO without recoil and Magic Guard keep him around for a damn long time while he slaps some bitches. Psyshock gives him a nice mixed sweeper look, helping him take down Blissey/Chansey/Virizion/Tentacruel a lot easier. Focus Blast is annoying as hell and has like 2% accuracy, but covers annoying Dark types and Steels that might be hanging around. Shadow Ball helps against annoying Ghosts and anyone resistant to FB and Psyshock, and gives Reuniclus almost perfect neutral coverage.

tyranitar.jpg

HokeyPokey (Tyrantiar) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 192 SDef
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Thunderpunch

I wouldn't call my team a Sandstorm team, it really doesn't need it to function, but this guy is really useful for stopping other weather teams from ripping me a new one. In sandstorm, he takes Hydro Pump like a bawss, along with basically any other special attack. If I lead with him, I can usually get an SR up quite easily, or midgame when he has an opportunity. His offensive options aren't great, he deals with Fire and Steel types pretty well, but I'm definitely open to a new EV spread/moveset. I mainly just use him to wall special attackers and hit them back decently hard, as well as to troll rain and sun teams who want their weather up.

e8337594ddd0d961f00e136e31caff80.png

Bonehead (Scizor) @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Bug Bite

Technician STAB SD LO Bullet Punch. Yeah, I don't wanna get hit by that either. This guy can just slice right through teams if he gets a turn of setup, so trying to wall this guy will just end very badly. Moveset is pretty simple, two Technician boosted STABs and a powerful Fighting move to hit Steels and Chansey/Blissey. He doesn't tend to last very long, as LO plus damage from anything that lives BP gets rid of him pretty quick. However, by that time he's usually taken down two other mons and broken the game open for the rest of my team.

121.png

StillGreen (Starmie) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin

Bye hazards, nice knowing you. This guy is great for spinning away against walls- he comes in, gets his spin, and if he gets statused he just switches out. However, he's also great for covering a lot of threats that can outspeed and wreck the rest of my team: Gengar, Latios, Latias, Terrakion, Landorus/Landorus-T, etc. BoltBeam plus Hydro Pump is great coverage, and coming off Starmie's respectable Special Attack can do some darn good damage to a lot of peeps. If only he was green.

This team has done pretty well for me on Showdown, but there are some threats that I do have some trouble with. Powerful Scarfed Pokemon generally rip my team if Reuniclus is dead or he can't take a switch in hit. Genesect is an asshole, as he covers a LOT of my team with Flamethrower and Bug Buzz. Speaking of Flamethrower, half my team is weak to that, and if Ferrothorn gets roasted by a fire move and a dragon comes in I have to hope to hell Starmie can Beam it. That's just the threats I can think of off the top of my head, let me know of any more.

So yeah, there's my first RMT, comments and criticisms are quite welcome, thanks for your time and your help!

Hi

This is a cool team, even though you had some weird restrictions you have a solid base. However, a coupke of proeminent threats in the BW2 metagame, Genesect and Sun teams, can really be troublesome to this team. First of all, Genesect will heavily damage everything on this team with U-turn or Bug Buzz, and while Scizor actually resists them (not a x4 resist though, as Bug doesn't resist Bug!) it will take quite a lot of damage especially from boosted Bug Buzz considering it has no Special Defense investment. Versions with Flamethrower will also prove to be problematic seeing as they can take out Scizor in one hit. You can't even outspeed the Scarf variant, while a bit less threatning that the Expert Belt, it will be able to do a number to this team with the correct predicitons. Sun teams will also be troublesome as stuff like Venusaur are troublesome and Tyranitar is easy to trap and kill with the help of Dugtrio. Volcarona is also able to clean sweep you as it is quite easy for it to set up on Scizor and from there, nothing can stop it. I think that Heatran would be a good replacement for your Scizor. While Heatran... isn't green I guess it helps make this team more competitive, and since you've already dropped Dragonite for Starmie it is no longer a "mono-green". Heatran covers all the threats I mentioned with relative ease, especially since you can run a Shed Shell on it to escape from Dugtrio. Genesect doesn't carry a move that can threaten Heatran a lot, as the best it can do is an unstabbed, neutral Thunderbolt. Heatran is then able to slam it with a Lava Plume. As for Sun teams, Heatran can completely wall a lot of their abusers and is immune to Fire, making their incredibly powerful STABs useless. Watch out for Sleep Powder though.

Your Tyranitar set needs a bit of tweaking, since its current moveset has kinda... bad coverage. ThunderPunch is nearly useless with Stone Edge as the latter hits pretty much everything for more or same amount of damage (even Gyarados!) which means that you can free up a moveslot by only using Stone Edge, which is a lot more useful since it's Tyranitar's STAB of choice. Running Crunch instead is a very good idea. Crunch allows Tyranitar to hit things such as Latios hard, which is nice considering it can take them on with its nice Special Defense and since it has no recovery, you need to OHKO them. While Earthquake gives it cool coverage options, especially on Steels, consider Pursuit instead. It allows Tyranitar to do damage to threats such as Latios, Latias and more even if they choose to switch out, which means they will no longer be able to threaten the rest of your team, turning it into a nice support to the rest of your team, especially Breloom, who hates most Psychic pokemon (especially Latias!)

Anyway that's a cool team n_n. Here's the set you should use:
Spr_b_5b_485.png

Heatran @ Shed Shell
Flash Fire
Calm
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
~Lava Plume
~Toxic
~Roar
~Protect

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion Jirachi, I'll definitely try out Heatran to see how that works out and yeahh Crunch would round his moveset a lot better... I've tried running Pursuit on Tar, but my team has always been able to handle the Latis pretty well so I changed to EQ mainly to hit Jirachi and other Steels harder.

Hey, cool team man. The threats I was able to identify to your team are Jirachi, Scizor, Genesect, Sun teams, the Lati twins, and Lucario.

First off, most of the threats are covered with the Heatran set Jirachi provided, so I second the suggestion of using it over Scizor. However, this does open a weakness to Virizion, so I suggest running Psyshock somewhere on your Starmie since Ice Beam does not OHKO. After Stealth Rock, Psyshock has a 62.5% chance to OHKO with Leftovers. If you want to ensure a OHKO, with or without Stealth Rock, you can use Life Orb and Recover, although I figured you like the coverage. Next, I second Jirachi's suggestion of using Crunch over Thunderpunch and Pursuit over Earthquake. They provide you with a STAB move and allows you to trap and KO the Lati twins which is extremely useful. Now, Swords Dance Lucario with Crunch can really run through your team. It can easily set up on Ferrothorn or Tyranitar and proceed to 6-0 you. One possible option is running a Scarfed Tyranitar. If they are Double Priority versions, they are handled by Reuniclus as long as you have full health and don't switch in on Lucario's attacks. If you want to give it a go, the set is Crunch / Pursuit / Stone Edge / Superpower, an EV Spread of 4 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed with a Jolly Nature. ScarfTyranitar can actually clean up pretty well in general since it maintains a massive Attack stat.

As for small changes, you can possibly try out Brick Break over Superpower since the stat drops can sometimes be a pain. It's just an option. I also suggest using a EV Spread of 252 HP / 88 Defense / 168 Special Defense for maximized defensive capabilities. You do not lose much power as you are still able to 2HKO Dragon-types such as Haxorus and Salamence with Gyro Ball even without the 80 Attack EVs. Hope I helped and good luck with the team.
