SV OU grassy terrain???

ello, this is the first time I am submitting a team here. As a preface, I am not good at teambuilding, but I do feel like this could have a niche, and want feedback as a result.

:rillaboom: @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Drum Beating
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Stomping Tantrum

The goal of this Pokemon is to be a bulky SpDef pivot that gives passive Leftovers + reduction in Earthquake power to the rest of the team, while sporting Knock Off. The main pivot. Assault Vest and full HP/SpDef investment allows it to blank Pokemon like Specs Dragapult and Knock it, or its teammate, Off. U-Turn as well. No other Assault Vest Pokemon in the game also gives itself a free Leftovers, which is also abused by the rest of the team. Every Pokemon except Hawlucha is grounded, so I am working with actual recovery in SVOU (crazy).

Drum Beating allows you to prevent things like Rapid Spin Bulk Up Great Tusks from trying to setup a Speed boost on you, and can 1v1 a lot of Pokemon like Iron Valiant late game if needed. Tera Grass helps you to beat down things like Garganacl with no setup, and Toxapex, which is also why Adamant is here.

:heatran: @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 136 SpD / 120 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Protect
- Will-O-Wisp
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power

Heatran is supposed to be the main recipient of this Grassy Terrain support. It can do things like:

0 Atk Great Tusk Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran in Grassy Terrain: 264-312 (68.3 - 80.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery

sit on Great Tusk for a turn, and still passively recover 12% a turn, Protect giving it 24% in two turns. Of course, this isn't the best play; Magma Storm on this only 2HKOs after all. But I want to make Heatran more safe in this way. The double Leftovers also makes it a much better blanket check against Special Attackers, and some Physical Attackers alike.

252 SpA Choice Specs Dragapult Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 136+ SpD Heatran: 126-148 (32.6 - 38.3%) -- 90.7% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Dragapult Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 136+ SpD Heatran: 126-148 (32.6 - 38.3%) -- 2.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Dragonite Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran in Grassy Terrain: 236-280 (61.1 - 72.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery
(it can safely Will-O-Wisp Dragonite)

as a few examples.

:kingambit: @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Kowtow Cleave
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance

I kind of just wanted a good 6th Pokemon that can be a wincon, and this can setup on defensive Tusks with Grassy Terrain up easily:

0 Atk Great Tusk Earthquake vs. 236 HP / 0 Def Kingambit in Grassy Terrain: 116-140 (29 - 35%) -- 0.4% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery

Some other things;

252 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 236 HP / 0 Def Kingambit in Grassy Terrain: 152-182 (38 - 45.5%) -- 57.3% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery
+1 252 Atk Protosynthesis Roaring Moon Earthquake vs. 236 HP / 0 Def Kingambit in Grassy Terrain: 192-226 (48 - 56.5%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery
+1 252+ Atk Dragonite Earthquake vs. 236 HP / 0 Def Kingambit in Grassy Terrain: 158-186 (39.5 - 46.5%) -- 81.3% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery

It may seem antithetical but I wanted a Dark-Type just in case for Ghost spam, because while I do have two SpDef titans, they also don't fully resist and will get warn down by them when they are needed to check other things as well.

:sneasler: @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 16 HP / 252 Atk / 240 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Dire Claw
- Acrobatics
- Swords Dance

This is following the Sneasler hype and helps it consistently get it, along with a Defense boost... And along with the Grassy Terrain, it can setup on Tusk and 1v1 it easily. Air Balloon is not bad here either probably, but the +1 Defense will help.

252+ Atk Tera Dark Kingambit Sucker Punch vs. +1 16 HP / 0 Def Grassy Seed Tera Flying Sneasler: 174-206 (57 - 67.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252+ Atk Tera Dark Kingambit Sucker Punch vs. +1 16 HP / 0 Def Grassy Seed Sneasler: 174-205 (57 - 67.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

Overall it is the second wincon of this team and pivoting it in with Grassy Terrain can be very helpful. I originally was running Hawlucha but calcs and play showed my old Gen 8 OU ways as being wrong.

:Great Tusk: @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Headlong Rush
- Close Combat
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

This looks wonky because no Knock Off, but it doesn't feel needed and I really need that Spin support. The Tera type needs work, not sure what to give it but this helps break through fat really well. What do you want me to say? This is the only really good Rapid Spinner in the tier. I wish I didn't have to run it, but that ship has long sailed. I went the offensive variant because with Grassy Terrain's healing it feels like Defensive Tusks would be too passive IMO. You can be the judge of that.

:dragapult: @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Draco Meteor
- U-turn
- Thunder

I debated between this and Valiant/Enamorus because Fairy Spa spam is really good right now IMO, but overall I think Pult is the much better cleaner/midgame Spatker for this team. It has Tera Ghost for that purpose, and Thunder is there to piss off Rain teams, a long-time classic. No seriously that is the only reason I run it. I mean honestly, you only need three moves. Scratch that you only need two, Shadow Ball and U-Turn, so I might as well do whatever I want for the third...

I tried to make a team using Rillaboom even without Grassy Glide. Is there merit to this idea? Am I just full of shit? I want feedback!

in all seriousness, I'm super happy to see this team actually do something

an update to this team is that Srn suggested Tera Ghost Sneasler and this paste has the updated version with that.

I believe this helps a lot against Gholdengo, but Tera Ground is actually a very good decision also. I do like Tera Ghost too because it helps against Dragapult revenge killing (you can kill it first), but Tera Ground may be the optimal play. Idk if you'll see this but ty for trying my team :>

I’ve been running grassy terrain as well with skeledirge as its main abuser—Heatran is an absolute classic in grassy terrain, of course, but allow me to explain dirge:

The main problem grassy terrain teams tend to have is the fact that your opponent also benefits from the terrain, putting some 2hkos and 3hkos out of your reach and allowing lefties mons to break even against chip from trapping moves/leech/salt cure. Skeledirge is perhaps the absolute best mon in the tier at ignoring or even taking advantage of that fact, potentially getting to setup further than he would without terrain if your opponent lacks a slow pivot move or something to hard switch into torch song (unlikely early game but increasingly likely as the game goes on, naturally). Meanwhile Dirge’s reduced weakness to ground moves allows you to better survive, stay in, and/or save your tera to become a massive threat, and of course, you have unaware to ignore the improved setup opportunities grassy terrain grants your opponent.
