Welcome back to Smogon Grand Slam! The UU, RU, NU, PU, Ubers, and LC Opens will begin shortly, commencing the competition for the coveted turquoise Trophy (
The format starts with the regular season, which consists of six separate tournaments: The UU Open, The RU Open, The NU Open, The PU Open, The Ubers Open and the LC Open. You can join all six if you wish, but your top three performances only will be counted towards playoffs! This is because we have added a sixth open and adopted the best finish limit of three for this edition. The point system for the opens is the same as the one used in Smogon Tour, Smogon Classic and previous years of Smogon Grand Slam (see this for further explanation). When all the Opens have been finished, the sixteen players with the most points will qualify for playoffs, where the battlers will duke it out in a single elimination bracket until there is one Grand Slam XI champion.
Signups for each Open will be posted after the first round of the previous Open is completed. Here is the list of the six Opens and the dates each signups will be posted:
- The LC Open - Hosted by Merritt - April 17th
- The UU Open - Hosted by Theia - April 17th
- The RU Open - Hosted by Ampha - April 24th
- The NU Open - Hosted by Kris - May 1st
- The PU Open - Hosted by Chloe - May 8th
- The Ubers Open - Hosted by Eledyr - May 8th
If a tier shift happens to occur during a round, it will not be taken into account until the following round. The same goes for Pokemon Home, and we will be sure to use the best judgement possible when this inevitably comes up. Be sure to join the Smogon Tournaments Discord server if you have any questions or wish to ask a host about a decision. More information on the tournament, standings spreadsheet, and any other logistics will be edited here and posted about in the near future -- stay tuned!
