AG [GP1/1] [DONE] Calyrex-Ice

Status
Not open for further replies.
[OVERVIEW]
Calyrex-I is a niche yet powerful pick, with its spectacular Attack, Glacial Lance, and Swords Dance allowing it to break through even the sturdiest physical walls seen on teams, such as Ho-Oh and Arceus-Fairy. Calyrex-I can set up Trick Room to compensate for its Speed, and its ability allows it to quickly snowball out of control. Calyrex-I suffers from a significant opportunity cost, as due to in-game restrictions allowing only one Calyrex forme per team, Calyrex-I is overshadowed by the metagame-defining Calyrex-S.

[SET]
Swords Dance Trick Room Sweeper (Calyrex-Ice)
Ability: As One (Glastrier)
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Glacial Lance
- High Horsepower
- Trick Room

[SET COMMENTS]
Calyrex-I plays the role of a Swords Dance sweeper, leveraging its low Speed and high Attack to its advantage and using Trick Room to outspeed any other Pokemon in the metagame. Its tremendous Attack allows it to cleave through common offensive Pokemon, such as Koraidon, Miraidon, and Calyrex-S under Trick Room. Multiple physically defensive Pokemon such as Ho-Oh, Arceus-Fairy, defensive variants of Arceus Ground, and Eternatus either take massive damage or get KOed by a Swords Dance-boosted Glacial Lance, made worse especially when combined with Tera Fire blocking Will-O-Wisp and Sacred Fire burns. Once Trick Room fades away, Calyrex-I is very prone to getting revenge killed due to its poor defensive typing and Speed. Glacial Lance is great at forcing Terastallization from Pokemon such as Tera Water Arceus-Fairy and Tera Water Landorus-T, which opens up holes for teammates such as Choice Scarf Koraidon and pivot Miraidon to exploit, as Arceus-Fairy and Ho-Oh would lack the ability to Terastallize. High Horsepower allows Calyrex-I to target the Steel-type Pokemon in the tier, such as Necrozma-DM and Zacian-C. Calyrex-I's EV spread maximizes its Attack and breaking potential and runs minimum Speed to Speed tie opposing Calyrex-I under Trick Room. Calyrex-I often consumes Terastallization, potentially hindering its teammates.

Miraidon and Arceus benefit from Calyrex-I's presence, as it annihilates Ground-types, Miraidon's main checks in the tier, allowing Miraidon to spam unresisted Electro Drifts to deal massive damage to team structures. Arceus can clean a game when some of its main checks, like defensive Ho-Oh, defensive Arceus formes, Zacian-C, and Necrozma-DM, are chipped by Calyrex-I, leaving a gaping hole in a team that Arceus can exploit. Calyrex-I struggles with Pokemon such as Arceus-Water, Skeledirge, and Dondozo, being completely unable to break them in most scenarios. Calyrex-I benefits from Pokemon such as Miraidon and Kyogre, which break through the aforementioned checks, and Kyogre has great synergy with Trick Room due to its relatively low Speed stat. Ting-Lu and Eternatus can help defensively back Calyrex-I, as Eternatus can switch into defensive Arceus formes, bar defensive Arceus-Ground, and defensive Ho-Oh with ease, setting up Toxic Spikes and Toxic to help enable a Calyrex-I sweep. Miraidon and Calyrex-S can easily exploit Calyrex-I once Trick Room is over, so Ting-Lu helps by checking Miraidon and Calyrex-S, enabling Calyrex-I to come back later in the game and set up Trick Room.

Other Options
=============
Calyrex-I could opt to use a more niche option in Choice Band or Life Orb, which can help break through defensive Arceus formes, like Arceus-Fairy and Arceus-Water, and Ho-Oh, paired with Tera Ice to break easier, though non-Heavy-Duty Boots Calyrex-I suffers from an entry hazard weakness. Mental Herb can be used to block Taunt by various Arceus formes and pivot Miraidon, and Lum Berry can be used to heal a Sacred Fire or Will-O-Wisp burn, though both items leave Calyrex-I suffering suffer from the aforementioned hazard weakness. Seed Bomb is an alternative to High Horsepower to break through Arceus-Water and Kyogre more easily, though it struggles with Necromza-DM and Zacian–C.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Arceus-Water**: A Glacial Lance resistance combined with great physical bulk, reliable recovery, Will-O-Wisp to severely cripple Calyrex-I, and a super effective Judgment against Tera Fire Calyrex-I, Arceus-Water is an almost perfect wall to Calyrex-I.

**Dondozo**: Dondozo resists Glacial Lance, neutralizes Calyrex-I's Attack boosts with Unaware, and has respectable physical bulk to wall Calyrex-I.

**Skeledirge**: Though it doesn't have the best physical bulk, Skeledirge's Glacial Lance resistance, Unaware, and Will-O-Wisp make it a great wall against Calyrex-I even though it's weak to High Horsepower.

**Protect Users**: Protect users stall out turns in Trick Room and make Calyrex-I significantly less threatening, allowing their teammates to outspeed and OHKO Calyrex-I.

**Taunt Users**: Taunt users block Calyrex-I from setting Trick Room, severely crippling its sweeping ability and allowing their teammates such as Calyrex-S and Koraidon threaten Calyrex-I with an OHKO.

[OVERVIEW]
Calyrex-Ice is a niche yet powerful pick in the metagame, with its spectacular 165 base attack stat and 120 base power ice type signature move in Glacial Lance, paired with Swords Dance to farther boost its attack and allow it to break through even the sturdiest of physical walls seen on most teams, such as Ho-Oh and Arceus-Fairy in the metagame. most teams of the current metagame, such as Ho-Oh and Arceus-Fairy. It can use a self-setting Trick Room setup Trick Room for itself to compensate for its low speed stat, along with it's ability, As One (Glastrier) to quickly snowball out of control. Calyrex-Ice suffers from a significant opportunity cost, as due to in game restrictions, teams are limited to a single form of Calyrex. This restriction confines Calyrex-Ice to a niche role, overshadowed by the meta-defining presence of Calyrex-Shadow. good pun if intended btw

[SET COMMENTS]
Paragraph 1:
Calyrex-Ice plays the role of a Swords Dance sweeper, leveraging its low speed and high attack stats to its advantage, using Trick Room to make it faster than any other Pokemon in the metagame, bar Ting-Lu. No one run minspeed Lu you can remove its mention It's tremendous attack stat allows it to cleave through the common offensive Pokemon in the metagame, such as Koraidon, Miraidon, and it's counterpart Calyrex-Shadow during trick room, while using Swords Dance and its ability, As One (Glastrier) to quickly overwhelm many teams. Neumerous physically defensive Pokemon in the metagame such as Ho-Oh, Arceus-Fairy, defensive variants of Arceus Ground, Necrozma-Dusk-Mane and Eternatus, either take massive damage or get eviscerated by a Swords Dance boosted Glacial Lance or High Horsepower, especially combined with tera fire blocking Will-O-Wisp and Sacred Fire burns. Since you mention NDM / Steel types later no need to mention it twice, keep one sentence for each move. Also, mention how good Boosted Glacial Lance is at forcing opponent to Tera High Horsepower allows it to target the Steel type Pokemon in the tier, such as Necrozma-Dusk-Mane and Zacian-Crowned. Calyrex-Ice's EV spread allows it to maximize the damage and breaking potential Calyrex-Ice has, and to minimize the speed it has in order to speed tie other Calyrex-Ice under Trick Room. Mention the fact that it is often tera dependant (in a lot of matchup you'll end up having to tera Caly-Ice in order to get Trick Room up which could hinder your team

Paragraph 2:
Miraidon and Arceus benefit from Calyrex-Ice's presence, as Calyrex-Ice annihilates Ting-Lu and Arceus-Ground, You can honestly just stay ground types as Lando-T is getting more common, and Clodsire/treads are huge wall to those mons Miraidon's only checks in the tier, You could reword to say "Main checks in the tier" as Spedef Ho-Oh and Blissey are stall stapples and check Miraidon pretty well allowing Miraidon to spam completely unresisted Electro Drifts dealing massive damage without any Ground type Pokemon to stop it. Arceus can clean a game when some of it's main checks, defensive Ho-Oh and defensive Arceus forms are chipped by Calyrex-Ice, I'd advice to add a mention of Zac-C and NDM here as they're pretty good against ekiller leaving a gaping whole in a team structure that Arceus can exploit. Calyrex-Ice struggles with Pokemon such as Arceus-Water, Skeledirge, and Dondozo, being completely unbreakable in most scenarios. Calyrex-Ice benefits from Pokemon such as Miraidon and Choice Specs Kyogre, with both reliably breaking those Pokemon, and Choice Specs Kyogre having great synergy with Trick Room that Calyrex-Ice uses to it's benefit. The idea of Specs Kyogre isn't bad in theory but Koraidon ruins it all, + Specs Kyogre is very uncommon, you could mention regular kyogre and mention Eternatus as it's pretty good against Caly-Ice checks + tspikes support help to pick kills // Also mention ting-lu for Spikes support + soft checking Caly-S and Miraidon, which take advantage of Caly-Ice once TR runs out

Choice Band could be used but its capability is limited due to its weakness to hazards and inability to set its own Trick Room, requiring heavy team support.

Mental Herb could be used in order to set Trick Room in the face of Taunt Arceus forms and pivot Miraidon, but is limited due to Calyrex-Ice's hazard weakness, having a Stealth Rock weakness and the lack of a Spikes immunity.

Lum Berry could be used to be unafraid of Will-O-Wisp Arceus forms and Ho-Oh once, allowing it to safely Trick Room in front of them, yet it is limited due to its Stealth Rock weakness and the lack of a Spikes immunity

I could see a very small mention of Life Orb or Tera Ice as +2 Caly-I is often really close from OHKO but can't ensure it (esp vs defensive arc forms or defensive ho-oh)

Checks and Counters
===================

Arceus-Water: A Glacial Lance resistance combined with great physical bulk, reliable recovery, Will-O-Wisp to severely cripple Calyrex-Ice and a supereffective judgement to hit a terastalized Calyrex-Ice, Arceus-Water is an almost perfect wall to Calyrex-Ice.

Dondozo: A Glacial Lance resistance combined with the great ability Unaware, neutering Calyrex-Ice's attack boosts, with respectable physical bulk is a great wall for Calyrex-Ice.

Skeledirge: Though it doesn't have the best physical bulk, Skeledirge's Glacial Lance resistance and Unaware ability, also having access to Will-O-Wisp makes it a great wall for Calyrex-Ice, even through it's High Horsepower weakness.

Mention Protect users as they easily burn turns of Trick Room

Overall Tera Water Pokemons such as any Defensive Arceus Form or Landorus-T

Lastly, Taunt is a nice addition to the Checks and Counters as it hinders a lot Caly-I

Calyrex-Ice Calyrex-I suffers from a significant opportunity cost, as due to in-game restrictions allowing only one Calyrex forme per team, Calyrex-I is overshadowed by the metagame-defining Calyrex-S. in game restrictions, teams are limited to a single form of Calyrex. This restriction confines Calyrex-Ice to a niche role, overshadowed by the meta-defining presence of Calyrex-S.

Calyrex-Ice Calyrex-I
plays the role of a Swords Dance sweeper, leveraging its low Speed speed and high Attack attack stats to its advantage (remove comma) and using Trick Room to outspeed make it faster than any other Pokemon in the metagame. It's tremendous attack stat Its tremendous Attack allows it to cleave through the common offensive Pokemon in the metagame, such as Koraidon, Miraidon, and Calyrex-S under Trick Room it's counterpart Calyrex-Shadow when Trick Room is up. Multiple physically defensive Pokemon in the metagame such as Ho-Oh, Arceus-Fairy, defensive variants of Arceus Ground, and Eternatus (remove comma) either take massive damage or get KOed eviscerated (some interpret massive dmg and eviscerated as the same) by a Swords Dance-boosted Dance boosted Glacial Lance, especially combined made worse especially when combined with Tera Fire blocking Will-O-Wisp and Sacred Fire burns. Once Trick Room fades away, Calyrex-Ice Calyrex-I is very prone to get getting revenge killed due to its poor defensive typing and Speed speed. Glacial Lance is also great at forcing Terastallization from Pokemon such as Tera Water Arceus-Fairy and Tera Water Landorus-T Therian, which opens up holes for teammates such as ChoIce Choice Scarf Koraidon and Heavy Duty Heavy-Duty Boots pivot Miraidon (I'm not an ag player, but does every pivot mirai run boots? if so, you could just say "pivot Miraidon") to exploit, as (there is a double space here; keep only 1 space) Arceus-Fairy and Ho-Oh would lack the ability to Terastallize. High Horsepower allows Calyrex-I it to target the Steel-type Steel type Pokemon in the tier, such as Necrozma-DM and Zacian-Crowned. Calyrex-Ice's Calyrex-I's EV spread maximizes its Attack and breaking potential and runs minimum Speed to Speed tie opposing Calyrex-I allows it to maximize the damage and breaking potential Calyrex-Ice has, and to minimize the speed it has in order to speed tie other Calyrex-Ice under Trick Room. Calyrex-Ice Calyrex-I often consumes Terastallization, potentially hindering its your teammates.

Miraidon and Arceus benefit from Calyrex-I's presence, as it annihilates Ground-types Calyrex-Ice's presence, as Calyrex-Ice annihilates Ground-Types, Miraidon's main checks in the tier, allowing Miraidon to spam unresisted Electro Drifts to deal dealing massive damage to team structures. Arceus can clean a game when some of its it's main checks, like defensive Ho-Oh, defensive Arceus formes forms, Zacian-Crowned, (comma) and Necrozma-DM, (comma) Dusk-Mane are chipped by Calyrex-I Calyrex-Ice, leaving a gaping hole in a team structure that Arceus can exploit. Calyrex-I Calyrex-Ice struggles with Pokemon such as Arceus-Water, Skeledirge, and Dondozo, being completely unable to break them unbreakable in most scenarios. Calyrex-I Calyrex-Ice benefits from Pokemon such as Miraidon and Kyogre, which break through the aforementioned checks, and Kyogre has having great synergy with Trick Room due to its relatively low Speed speed stat. Ting Lu Ting-Lu and Eternatus can also help defensively back Calyrex-I Calyrex-Ice, as Eternatus can switch into in to defensive Arceus formes forms, bar defensive Arceus-Ground, (comma) and defensive Ho-Oh with ease, setting up Toxic Spikes and Toxic to help enable a Calyrex-I Calyrex-Ice sweep. Miraidon and Calyrex-S can easily exploit Calyrex-I Calyrex-Ice once Trick Room is over, so Ting Lu is a check for Ting-Lu helps by checking Miraidon and Calyrex-S, enabling Calyrex-I Calyrex-Ice to come back later in the game and set up Trick Room. once again (sort of repeated)

=============
Choice Band could be used, (comma) but its capability is limited due to its weakness to entry hazards and inability to set its own Trick Room, requiring heavy team support.

Mental Herb could be used in order to set Trick Room in the face of Taunt Arceus formes forms and pivot Miraidon, but it is limited due to Calyrex-I's Calyrex-Ice's hazard weakness.

Lum Berry could be used to be unafraid of Will-O-Wisp Arceus formes forms and Ho-Oh's Sacred Fire once, allowing Calyrex-I it to safely set up Trick Room in front of them, yet it is limited due to its hazard weakness not ideal due to hazards.

Life Orb could be used in order to OHKO Arceus-Fairy 81.3% of the time at +2, yet is limited due to its susceptibility to hazards and but this leads to Calyrex-I quickly being worn down due to hazards and by its own Life Orb recoil. (add period)

Tera Ice could be used to OHKO Arceus-Fairy at +2, but is limited it struggles due to its inability to set Trick Room in front of Flare Blitz Koraidon. Tera Ice is also more commonly used on Choice Band sets.

Seed Bomb is an alternative to High Horsepower that allows Calyrex-I which allows Caly-I to break through Arceus-Water and Kyogre more easily.

Its tremendous Attack allows it to cleave through common offensive Pokemon, such as Koraidon, Miraidon, and Calyrex-S, (comma) under Trick Room.

Calyrex-I could opt to use a more niche option in Choice Band or Life Orb, which can help break through defensive Arceus formes Formes such as Arceus-Fairy (remove comma) and Arceus-Water (remove comma) and Ho-Oh, paired with Tera Ice to break easier, though it suffers non-Heavy-Duty Boots Calyrex-I suffers from a an entry hazard weakness. Mental Herb can be used to block Taunt Taunts by various Arceus Formes formes and pivot Miraidon, and Lum Berry can be used to heal a Sacred Fire or Will-O-Wisp burn, though they both suffer both items leave Calyrex-I suffering from the aforementioned hazard weakness.

...

**Arceus-Water**: A Glacial Lance resistance combined with great physical bulk, reliable recovery, Will-O-Wisp to severely cripple Calyrex-I, and a super effective Judgment against Tera Fire Calyrex-I,, Arceus-Water (<-- watch out, double comma here) is an almost perfect wall to Calyrex-I.

...

**Skeledirge**: Though it doesn't have the best physical bulk, Skeledirge's Glacial Lance resistance, Unaware,o (<-- fix plz) and Will-O-Wisp make it a great wall against Calyrex-I even though it's weak to High Horsepower.

...

**Taunt Users**: Taunt users block Calyrex-I from setting Trick Room, severely crippling its sweeping ability and allowing their teammates such as Calyrex-S and Koraidon to threaten easily outspeed and OHKO Calyrex-I with an OHKO. (made this edit cz slightly repetitive with the last sentence)

"defensive Arceus formes such as arc fairy and arc water and ho-oh"? yes, cause ho-oh isn't an arceus forme
if it feels a bit awkward still, go for
"defensive Arceus formes, like arc fairy and water, and ho-oh" or "defensive foes like arc fairy, arc water, and ho-oh"

np! you'll mark this analysis as GP 1/1 and [DONE] in the title, then you wait for one of the forum staff with the fire badge (site content manager) to post it

also, you missed a tiny bit here
