[SET COMMENTS]
Golisopod acts as a strong revenge killer for offensive teams, utilising its powerful STAB First Impression to pressure faster offensive Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Gardevoir, Haxorus, and Celebi. In addition, its defensive typing and naturally high Defense stat allow it to act as a switch-in to threats such as Mamoswine, Doublade, Araquanid, and Cobalion. Liquidation and Leech Life are reliable STAB moves that allow Golisopod to threaten many slower Pokemon such as Rhyperior and Reuniclus, with Leech Life also serving as a form of recovery. Access to Spikes allows Golisopod to apply offensive pressure on forced switches and wear down its checks over time. Aqua Jet can be used on teams that don't need the utility Spikes provides, giving Golisopod the opportunity to revenge kill weakened threats such as Lucario and Chandelure that could otherwise survive First Impression. Knock Off can be used to cripple Golisopod's common switch-ins such as Noivern and Galarian Weezing, but it is generally not preferred over the utility Spikes or Aqua Jet provides. The EV spread allows Golisopod to outspeed Rhyperior and Araquanid, preventing them from activating Emergency Exit too early, and maximizes Golisopod's offensive presence and bulk. A spread of 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe can be used to outspeed Umbreon and hit it before it can activate Emergency Exit, but this spread cuts into Golisopod's bulk a lot. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Golisopod to avoid entry hazard damage and makes it easier for Golisopod to have control over Emergency Exit's activation.
Noivern appreciates Golisopod's ability to take Ice-type attacks and threaten Mamoswine, one of its most prominent revenge killers, and it can use U-turn to get Golisopod in safely on Pokemon that normally switch into Noivern, such as Rhyperior and Gigalith. Roserade forms a strong pairing with Golisopod and appreciates its ability to threaten Pokemon like Mamoswine, while Roserade threatens many of Golisopod's best checks such as Mantine, Jellicent, and defensive Galarian Weezing in addition to weakening their shared checks such as Noivern. Roserade providing Spikes support can also allow Golisopod to more freely run Aqua Jet. Choice Specs Gardevoir pressures the aforementioned defensive Pokemon while also benefiting from the Spikes support Golisopod provides. Mamoswine, Rhyperior, and Gigalith can all threaten Noivern, one of Golisopod's most common checks, while setting up Stealth Rock to form a hazard-stacking core with Golisopod. Setup sweepers such as Haxorus and Cobalion enjoy the Spikes support Golisopod provides, as it can make their job of cleaning late-game much easier. They also appreciate Golisopod's ability to pressure faster revenge killers such as Inteleon and Choice Scarf Flygon.
