Golisopod's access to STAB First Impression makes it a reliable revenge killer and allows it to check threats such as Zarude, Zygarde-10%, and Obstagoon in conjunction with its natural physical bulk and nearly unique typing. Golisopod is also one of the tier's few viable Spike setters. Knock Off is the preferred last move, as it can cripple foes such as Registeel, Seismitoad, and Noivern. Leech Life can also be used, however, to give Golisopod access to a Bug-type STAB move beyond the first turn while also giving it a form of recovery. 164 Speed EVs are used to outrun Incineroar, Galarian Weezing, and Sylveon. Emergency Exit is a mixed bag; it can be useful for pivoting in an appropriate teammate should Golisopod be weakened, but it can also force Golisopod to switch out in situations where it would much rather stay in and either attack or set up Spikes. Heavy-Duty Boots prevents chip from hazards, which is especially important for Golisopod considering the effect of Emergency Exit.

Golisopod works well on teams that appreciate Spikes support and also need a decent check to threats such as Zygarde-10% and Zarude. Teammates like Xurkitree, Zygarde-10%, Zarude, and Sharpedo all appreciate Spikes wearing down their checks and counters so they can clean up in the late-game, and Golisopod's Knock Off can remove various Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers to make them even more threatening. Golisopod's Speed and Special Defense can leave a lot to be desired; this leaves it open to powerful, fast special attackers such as Thundurus, Noivern, and Toxtricity. A check to these threats, which can include Sylveon, Porygon2, and Registeel, is recommended as a result. Golisopod is bait for the tier's best Electric-types, so teams utilizing it must double down on ways around them. Ground-types, such as Seismitoad, Rhyperior, and Zygarde-10%, can help out in the anti-Electric effort, and the former two can also set Stealth Rock, completing a hard to deal with hazard stacking core. These Ground-types must be backed up with other teammates that can handle Electric-type moves, which can include Grass-types such as Zarude or your own Electric-types, such as Raikou and Toxtricity. Said Electric-types can also mitigate Golisopod's weakness to Flying-types such as Togekiss.

Golisopod is a rather interesting utility Pokemon in RU. It has access to the uncommon Spikes, making it one of the tier's few viable Spike setters, and STAB First Impression allows Golisopod access to very strong priority and act as a secondary form of speed control revenge killer. First Impression, in conjunction with its unique typing as well as nice natural physical bulk allow it to check threats such as Zygarde-10%, Obstagoon, and Zarude. Golisopod has access to the uncommon Spikes, making it one of the tier's few viable Spike setters. However, Golisopod's mediocre Special Defense and Speed tier can leave a lot to be desired at times, and the rather specific list of threats that it properly checks can make fitting it onto teams somewhat challenging at times. (The second part of the sentence is worded clunkily and confusing. Plus, it isn't entirely true. While, yes the list of 'mons Golisopod outright check is short, First Impression is still hella strong and any neutral targets and even resists can falter when weakened (like Thunderurus takes 35-41%). So just get rid of the second half and double-down on its poor SpD leaving it vulnerable to common special attackers like Thundurus and Noivern.) Knock Off is the preferred last move, as it can cripple opponents such as Registeel, Seismitoad, and Crobat Noivern (Crobat works too, but vern is the big one.). Leech Life can also be used, however, to give Golisopod access to Bug-STAB that can be used outside of the first turn while also giving it a form of recovery. 164 Speed EVs are used to outrun Incineroar, Galarian Weezing, and Sylveon. Emergency Exit is Golisopod's only ability. This ability is a mixed bag; it can be useful for pivoting in an appropriate teammate should Golisopod be put below 50% health, but it can also force Golisopod to switch out in situations where it would much rather stay in and either attack or set up Spikes. Heavy-Duty Boots prevents chip from hazards, which is especially important for Golisopod considering the effects of Emergency Exit.

Golisopod works well on teams that have teammates that appreciate Spikes support while also needing a decent check to threats such as Zygarde-10% and Zarude. Golisopod's Spikes are greatly appreciated by teammates that are looking to clean up in the late game. Xurkitree, Zygarde-10%, Zarude, and Sharpedo all appreciate Spikes wearing down their checks and counters, and Golisopod's Knock Off can remove various Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers to make this even more threatening.
