1v1 Golem ( DONE )

[OVERVIEW]

Golem is a powerful Sturdy user in 1v1. Its STAB EdgeQuake has good coverage and lets it beat commonly used Pokemon like Mega Charizard X and Zeraora. Golem also has the ability to viably utilize Z-Moves for both of its STAB attacks, which, depending on the Z-Crystal used, lets it beat non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross and Air Balloon Heatran. Its access to priority in Sucker Punch also gives it the potential to beat bulky Pokemon like Meloetta and Genesect that would be able to take just a Z-Move. In addition to all this, it has access to moves like Rock Blast and Counter, which can help it defeat Pokemon like Jumpluff and Choice Scarf Landorus-T, respectively, which would otherwise beat it. Unfortunately, Golem's pitiful Speed tier leaves it outsped by the majority of the metagame and vulnerable to faster bulky Pokemon like Serperior, Tapu Lele, and Mew. Another factor that severely affects its viability is the ubiquity of Mold Breaker, Fake Out, and Skill Link Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Heracross, which can bypass Sturdy. These downsides make Golem face competition for its niche from Donphan, another Sturdy user that also has access to Ground-type STAB and priority.

move 3: Sucker Punch
move 4: Protect
item: Groundium Z
ability: Sturdy
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Stone Edge OHKOes Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona. Earthquake gets powered up by Groundium Z into Tectonic Rage, which can OHKO Pokemon like non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross. Sucker Punch gives Golem the potential to pick off weakened Pokemon after Tectonic Rage like Choice Band Garchomp. Protect can be used to negate the chip damage from Fake Out from Pokemon like Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham to preserve Sturdy.

Set Details
========

252 EVs in Attack coupled with an Adamant nature maximize Golem's damage output. 252 Speed EVs let it outspeed Pokemon like bulky Mega Tyranitar. Groundium Z is used to beat non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross and Aegislash. Sturdy lets Golem survive attacks like Never-Ending Nightmare from Aegislash and Meteor Mash from Mega Metagross that it otherwise would not.

Usage Tips
========

Bring Golem against Steel-type Pokemon like Registeel and Mega Mawile that Groundium Z can OHKO. Use Sucker Punch against Pokemon that are sure to use an attack on Golem, like bulky Genesect and Meloetta, if the Z-Move fails to OHKO them. Avoid bringing Golem against Water- and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Fini, since they can tank any attack Golem throws at them due to their bulk and easily KO it. Against Fake Out users like Mega Lopunny, use Protect cautiously, since they can set a Substitute up while you use Protect. Avoid bringing Golem against faster Pokemon that can stall it out, like Serperior, Whimsicott, Kee Berry Mew, and Deoxys-S. Avoid bringing it against Iron Defense and Charm users like Mega Slowbro and Chansey, as they can easily tank any hits Golem throws at them and render Golem unable to KO them afterwards.

Team Options
========

Grass-type Pokemon like Tapu Bulu and Mega Venusaur make good teammates for Golem, since they can take on Water- and Ground-type Pokemon that give Golem trouble. Specially defensive Tapu Bulu equipped with Taunt in particular stands out as a teammate, since it beats bulkier threats that Golem cannot like Mega Gyarados, Donphan, Mega Gardevoir, Primarina, Registeel, Zygarde-C, Mega Slowbro, and Mew, with Golem beating Fire- and Steel-type Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Aegislash, non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross, and Mega Mawile for Tapu Bulu. Mega Venusaur can also beat opposing Golem, Donphan, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria, while Golem beats Belly Drum Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona for Mega Venusaur. Special wallbreakers like Porygon-Z and Nihilego synergize well with Golem, as they can take on the Will-O-Wisp, Iron Defense, and Charm users like Mew and Mega Venusaur that threaten it. Since Golem is slow, fast Pokemon like Pheromosa and Deoxys-S are useful partners to beat Pokemon like Whimsicott, Smeargle,and Vivillon, which rely on facing slower opponents to win. In return, Golem can beat bulky threats like Aegislash and Jirachi.

[SET]

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Stone Edge, when powered up by Rockium Z, becomes a high-powered Continental Crush capable of OHKOing Pokemon like Mega Charizard X and Y and, most of the time, physical Flyinium Z Dragonite while also mitigating the mediocre accuracy of Stone Edge. Earthquake OHKOes non-Magnet Rise Aegislash in its Blade forme and Grassium Z Heatran and hits the Steel-types that Stone Edge cannot. Sucker Punch gives Golem the potential to pick off weakened Pokemon that Continental Crush fails to OHKO like Air Balloon Heatran. Counter can be used to OHKO physical attackers that Golem's STAB moves cannot, like Mega Metagross and Mega Mawile.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP EVs let Golem tank hits from strong attackers like Choice Band Haxorus, while maximum Attack EVs maximize its damage output against Pokemon like Air Balloon Heatran. 9 Speed IVs and a Brave nature let Golem underspeed minimum Speed Aegislash in order to attack it in its Blade forme, OHKOing it with Earthquake. Rockium Z is used to beat Pokemon that Stone Edge would usually fail to OHKO like Air Balloon Heatran and bulky Lunge Pheromosa, and makes the Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y matchup more consistent.

Usage Tips
========

Since Golem is a hard hitter, it should aim to use its most effective moves as soon as it can. Use Counter immediately against Mega Metagross and Mega Mawile, since Golem can tank any move they throw at it because of Sturdy, but beware that they can use this to their advantage by initially using a move that doesn't deal too much damage and then following up with a move that KOes Golem. Use Sucker Punch against Pokemon that are sure to use an attack on Golem, like bulky Genesect and Choice Band Garchomp, if the Z-Move fails to OHKO them. Avoid bringing Golem against Water- and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Fini, since they can tank any attack Golem throws at them due to their bulk and easily KO Golem.

Team Options
========

Golem can beat Choice Scarf Porygon-Z and Greninja, while Mega Charizard Y can pick up KOs on all of the slower variants of Porygon-Z; Mega Charizard Y can also deal with most bulky Fairy-types like Magearna and Mega Gardevoir, as well as with Mega Gyarados and Mega Venusaur. Fairium Z Magearna is an excellent partner for Golem because it can deal with the biggest threats to Golem, namely Mega Gyarados, Dragonite, and Donphan, while Golem can consistently take care of Fire-type Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Heatran for Magearna.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Rock Tomb can be used on Groundium Z Golem for a more consistent Mega Charizard X and Volcarona matchup. Similarly, Smack Down can be used against Zapdos and Celesteela to make them take super effective damage from Tectonic Rage on subsequent turns. Rock Blast can be used to KO some frail Substitute users like Jumpluff and Volcarona by breaking their Substitute and KOing them in the same turn. Bulldoze can also be run on the Groundium Z set to let Golem counter Magearna. Against Magearna, use Bulldoze on the first turn followed by Earthquake on the second turn and Tectonic Rage on the third to successfully defeat it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Pokemon that Bypass Sturdy**: Mold Breaker Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Fake Out users such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, and offensive Mew, and Skill Link Pokemon like Mega Heracross can bypass Sturdy and KO Golem.

**Water- and Grass-type Pokemon**: Golem struggles against most Water- and Grass-types such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Bulu, since they are bulky enough to take its attacks and defeat it with their super effective attacks.

**Physically Bulky Pokemon**: Since Golem doesn't have a way to boost its Attack, Pokemon that can tank a hit from Golem and 2HKO it back like Z-Reflect Tapu Lele and physically defensive Primarina are good checks to it.

**Sleep Users**: Sleep move users like Smeargle, Jumpluff, and Vivillon, being faster than Golem, can put it to sleep and use their moves to successfully prevent Golem from beating them.

  • It has a pitiful speed tier, which lets it outsped by the majority of the metagame. This leaves it vulnerable to faster Pokemon like Magearna, Serperior, Tapu Lele, and Mew.
  • It is also easy to counter, as it doesn't have too many sets to counter

Checks and Counters

**Mold Breaker**: Pokemon like Mega Gyarados and Aqua Tail Haxorus are by far the most reliable Golem counters, since there's no way for Golem to survive a Waterfall or an Aqua Tail from the respective Pokemon.

**Water-type Pokemon**: Golem struggles against most Water-types, such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Mega Blastoise, since they are bulky enough to live Golem's attacks and defeats Golem.

**Grass-type Pokemon**: Golem struggles against most Grass-types, such as Mega Venusaur, Tapu Bulu, and Ferrothorn, since they can [can what]

**Sturdy breakers** : Fake Out users such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham and Mew are excellent at taking out Golem because of their ability to break Sturdy; other Pokemon that do the same are Mega Heracross.

**Physical Walls**: Physically bulky Pokemon with recovery moves, like Umbreon and Mega Slowbro, can also defeat Golem , since they can stop Golem in its tracks by either lowering Golem's Attack stat with Charm, or by raising its own Defense stat with Iron Defense. Some other Pokemon like Buzzwole are also naturally bulky enough to live Golem's attacks and finish it off in return.

  • Sucker Punch allows Golem the potential to pick off any weakened Pokemon that Tectonic Rage or Continental Crush fails to OHKO, like Garchomp i would either choose something else (bc groundium can outplay with sub or sd) or specify choiced garchomp and Heatran respectively.
  • Protect can be used to negate the chip damage from Fake Out from Pokemon like Mega Lopunny, Zeraora or Mega Medicham. this seems like this is most useful for Groundium. Why make it the first slash?
  • Counter can be used to KO physical attackers which Golem's STAB moves might fail to KO, like physical Dragonium Dragonite.
  • Rock Blast is used to KO some frail Substitute users like Jumpluff which otherwise beats it with Leech Seed.

  • 252 Speed EVs lets it outspeed Pokemon like bulky Mega Tyranitar and fast Carracosta.
  • mention that 4 evs serve no purpose. I know thats not standard analysis procedure but 1v1 analyses have very specific evs, so its hard to tell
  • Rockium Z can be used to beat Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, you don't need Rockium for zards, u can just stone edge and Heatran, while Groundium Z can be used to beat non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross, Aegislash and Magearna. not really, it IDs first. maybe change to Choice Specs Magearna?
Usage Tips
========

  • Bring Golem against most Fire-type Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Heatran if you have Rockium Z, or Steel-type Pokemon like Registeel and Mega Mawile if Groundium Z.
  • If you have the unfavorable Z Move in a game against a physical attacker like say, Rockium Z Golem against Mega Metagross or Groundium Z Golem against Landorus-T, Tapu Bulu diff example would be better, since you don't even beat lando t with rockium use Counter immediately against them, since you usually tank any move they throw at you because of Sturdy, but beware that they can use this to their advantage as well by using a move which doesn't deal too much damage and then follow up with a killing move.
  • If you suspect that a Pokemon is going to use Substitute, use Rock Blast if you have it, or its other STAB moves it you don't. This avoids wasting your Z Move on the Substitute. list some common substitute users.
  • Use Sucker Punch against Pokemon which are sure to use an attack on you, like defensive Genesect and Choice Band Garchomp.
  • Avoid bringing Golem against Water- and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Fini, since they can tank any attack Golem throws at them due to their bulkiness.
  • Against Fake Out users like Mega Lopunny, use Protect cautiously, since they can use their Z-Move or since they can set a Substitute up while you use Protect, or, in Mew's case, use their Z Move on your Protect. Unless I am mistaken, Mew is the only Z Move user with Fake Out that threatens Golem. Add other z move fake out users if you can think of them
  • Avoid bringing it against faster Pokemon that can stall Golem and whittle away Golem's HP, like Serperior, Whimsicott, Kee Berry Mew, and Taunt Deoxys-Speed.
  • Avoid bringing it against Iron Defense and Charm users like Mega Slowbro and Mega Venusaur. Mega Venu would win without charm anyway, more applicable
Team Options

  • Grass-type Pokemon like Tapu Bulu and Mega Venusaur make good teammate for Golem. Taunt Tapu Bulu, p sure you need taunt to beat registeel and mew in particular, stands out as a teammate, since it beats Mega Gyarados, Donphan, Serperior, Mega Gardevoir, Primarina, Registeel, Zygarde-C, Mega Slowbro and Mew amongst others for Golem, with Golem beating the Mega Charizards, and either Pheromosa and Heatran if Rockium Z, or Aegislash, non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross and Mega Mawile if Groundium Z for Tapu Bulu. Mega Venusaur can also beat opposing Golem, Donphan, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria, with Golem beating Mega Charizard Y, Mega Charizard X and Volcarona for Mega Venusaur.
  • Special wallbreakers also synergise well with Golem, since they can take on the Will-o-Wisp, Iron Defense and Charm users that threaten Golem, like Mew, Mega Gardevoir, Buzzwole and Mega Venusaur. So, Pokemon like Porygon-Z and Nihilego make for great teammates.
  • Since Golem is slow, some fast Pokemon like Pheromosa and Deoxys-Speed can beat Pokemon like Whimsicott, Smeargle and Vivillon, who rely on facing slower opponents to win. In return, Golem can beat some bulkier threats like Aegislash and Jirachi.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-type Pokemon**: Golem struggles against most Grass-types, such as Mega Venusaur, Tapu Bulu, and Ferrothorn, since they are bulky enough to tank hits from Golem, and KO in return with their own STAB moves.

Will-o-Wisp from Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir or Mew can effectively render Golem ineffective, since Golem cannot deal enough damage after a burn to defeat these Pokemon. i would make this its own section Some other Pokemon like Buzzwole are also naturally bulky enough to live Golem's attacks and finish it off in return.

So in overview you should definitely mention Donphan. Golem is basically its counterpart in 1v1, and letting the reader know what Golem can do that Donphan cannot would be awesome. Like, Golem can beat Heatran more easily and has access to Dark-type priority, improving its odds with Meloetta.

[OVERVIEW]

Golem is a powerful Sturdy user in 1v1, an ability which lets it to live any one single attack, discounting Mold Breaker Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados. It has the ability to viably utilize Z-Moves for its STABs which, depending on the Z-Crystal, lets it beat Zapdos or non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross (What about the most relevant poke in the tier, Zard). Its access to STAB EdgeQuake also means few Pokemon resist its STAB moves. (Just say mention Edgequake is good coverage) Its access to priority in Sucker Punch also gives it the potential to beat bulky Pokemon like Meloetta and Heatran that would otherwise live just a Z-Move. In addition to all this, it has access to moves like Rock Blast and Counter, which can help it get wins against Pokemon like Jumpluff and Choice Scarf Landorus-T. It has a pitiful speed tier, which lets it outsped by the majority of the metagame. This leaves it vulnerable to faster Pokemon like Magearna (bulldoze beats this), Serperior, Tapu Lele, and Mew. It is also easy to counter, as it doesn't have too many sets (irrelevant, why is it easy to counter from a standpoint of what it does). Another factor is that unlike Donphan's Ice Shard or Carracosta's Aqua Jet, Golem's Sucker Punch need the opposing Pokemon to attack it. This fact can be taken advantage of to stall out the Sucker Punch turns by not attacking by Pokemon like Z-Move Garchomp, or by boosting Speed and proceed to KO Golem with their now faster priority move, as in Carracosta's case (This is incorrect. + Spe nature carracostas already outspeed you If you want to keep this explain how they boost up). Another factor which severely affects its viability is the ubiquitous presence of Mold Breaker, Fake Out, and Skill Link Pokemon, most of which are viable, like Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Heracross. A combination of these facts makes Golem face competition for its niche (What is its Niche? I would argue that Zone serves a totally different purpose, with Donphan, Carracosta Crustle being the main competition. you really need to develop this. One point to use is that Head Smash on Donphan has the same effective BP as Edge but has recoil) from Pokemon like Crustle and Magnezone. In spite of all this, What sets it apart is that Golem can beat Heatran more easily (than what?) and has access to Dark-type priority, improving its odds (what do you mean by this? Bandphan and Carracosta still beat genesect do they not) with Meloetta and Genesect, which sets it apart from Donphan, in spite of both of them having similar niches of being Ground-type Sturdy Pokemon with access to priority moves (This should be in the previous sentence or eliminate it).

Moves
========

Stone Edge KOs Mega Charizard Y and Mega Charizard X, and if powered by a Rockium Z, it becomes a high power Continental Crush capable of KOing Pokemon like physical Flyinium Z Physical Dragonite, if you predict when they will use Extreme Speed (explain why you have to predict). Rockium Z, if run, will allow Continental Crush to hit Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y, without worrying about the 80% accuracy (Mention this in the previous sentence). Earthquake can be used to KO Grassium Z Heatran, and once it gets powered by Groundium Z into a Tectonic Rage, Golem can KO Pokemon like non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross and Mega Lopunny. Sucker Punch allows Golem the potential to pick off any weakened Pokemon after Tectonic Rage or Continental Crush fails to OHKO, like Choice Band Garchomp and Heatran respectively. Protect can be used to negate the chip damage from Fake Out from Pokemon like Mega Lopunny, Zeraora (this loses anyways...) or Mega Medicham and preserve Sturdy. Counter can be used to KO physical attackers which Golem's STAB moves might fail to KO, like Choice locked physical Dragonite (Really specific + Rock Z -> Suck wins regardless). Rock Blast is used to KO some frail Substitute users like Jumpluff which otherwise beats it with Leech Seed.

Set Details
========

252 EVs in Attack coupled with an Adamant nature maximizes Golem's damage output. 252 Speed EVs lets it outspeed Pokemon like bulky Mega Tyranitar and fast Carracosta (no). The 4 leftover EVs are dumped into SpD which does not let Golem tank any attack (irrelevant). If you run Rockium Z Golem, you can use 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def with 9 Speed IVs and a Brave Nature to let non-Magnet Rise Aegislash outspeed you so that Golem can attack Aegislash in its Blade forme. This also gives Golem the potential to beat Metal Burst users like Mega Aggron and Mega Mawile (you should beat maw most the time anyways and you lose to Aggron regardless, they just mega). You may lose to Pokemon like Mega Tyranitar if Counter isn't run with the bulky spread, however
(How?). Groundium Z can be used to beat Mega Charizard X (You beat CharX with rTckZ as well), non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross, non-Magnet Rise Aegislash, and Choice Specs Magearna (Not really a relevant thing, how about Garchomp?), while Rockium Z can be used to beat Pokemon like Heatran and Pheromosa (252+ Atk Golem Stone Edge vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Pheromosa: 364-429 (128.1 - 151%)).

Usage Tips
========

Bring Golem against Steel-type Pokemon like Registeel and Mega Mawile if Groundium Z, or Fire-type Pokemon like Air Balloon Heatran if you have Rockium Z (You still beat most fire types with groundium). If you have the unfavorable Z Move in a game against a physical attacker like say, Rockium Z Golem against Mega Metagross or Groundium Z Golem against Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu (Very niche and it's still a roll after terrain recovery), use Counter immediately against them, since you usually tank any move they throw at you because of Sturdy, but beware that they can use this to their advantage as well by using a move which doesn't deal too much damage and then follow up with a move that KOes. If you suspect that a Pokemon is going to use Substitute, use Rock Blast if you have it, (not always true) or its other STAB moves it you don't. This avoids wasting your Z Move on the Substitute. Use Sucker Punch against Pokemon which are sure to use an attack on you, like defensive bulky Genesect and Choice Band Garchomp, if the Z-Move fails to KO the Pokemon. Avoid bringing Golem against Water- and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Fini, since they can tank any attack Golem throws at them due to their bulkiness (and easily kill Golem). Against Fake Out users like Mega Lopunny, use Protect cautiously, since they can set a Substitute up while you use Protect. Avoid bringing it against faster Pokemon that can stall Golem and whittle away Golem's HP, like Serperior, Whimsicott, Kee Berry Mew, and Taunt Deoxys-Speed. Avoid bringing it against Iron Defense and Charm users like Mega Slowbro and Umbreon (what can they do? Why does Golem lose?).

Team Options
========

Grass-type Pokemon like Tapu Bulu and Mega Venusaur make good teammate for Golem. Taunt Tapu Bulu, in particular, stands out as a teammate, since it beats Mega Gyarados, Donphan, Serperior, Mega Gardevoir, Primarina, Registeel, Zygarde-C, Mega Slowbro and Mew amongst others for Golem, with Golem beating Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Aegislash, and either Pheromosa and Heatran if Rockium Z, or non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross and Mega Mawile if Groundium Z, for Tapu Bulu. Mega Venusaur can also beat opposing Golem, Donphan, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria, with Golem beating Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona for Mega Venusaur (Charm venu beats charx). Special wallbreakers (such as?) also synergise well with Golem, since they can take on the Will-o-Wisp, Iron Defense and Charm users like Mew, Mega Gardevoir, Buzzwole and Mega Venusaur that threaten Golem, (There's something missing here). So, Pokemon like Porygon-Z and Nihilego make for great teammates. Since Golem is slow, some fast Pokemon like Pheromosa and Deoxys-Speed can beat Pokemon like Whimsicott, Smeargle and Vivillon who rely on facing slower opponents to win . In return, Golem can beat some bulkier threats like Aegislash and Jirachi.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Rock Tomb can be used to outspeed Air Balloon Magnezone (irrelevant), but it doesn't have much use outside of that (This isn't true, how about Heatran or a more consistent zardx/volcarona matchup?). Smack Down can be used against Skarmory (irrelevant, mention Zapdos here instead) and Celesteela to make them take super effective damage from Tectonic Rage the next turn, but again, this has very little use apart from that. Bulldoze can also be run to counter Magearna and Magnezone, but Golem has other moves which perform better for it than Bulldoze (Explain what MUs you lose out on. Bulldoze should probably be slashed).

Checks and Counters
===================

**Mold Breaker (Combine this with sturdy breakers)**: Pokemon like Mega Gyarados and Aqua Tail Haxorus are by far the most reliable Golem counters.

**Water-type and Grass-type Pokemon**: Golem struggles against most Water-types and Grass-types, such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Bulu, since they are bulky enough to live Golem's attacks and defeats Golem with their Super-effective attacks.

**Sturdy breakers** : Fake Out users such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham and Offensive Mew are excellent at taking out Golem because of their ability to break Sturdy; other Pokemon that do the same are Mega Heracross (with multihit moves.

Will-o-Wisp (You mention this in a later section) from Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir or Mew can effectively render Golem ineffective, since Golem cannot deal enough damage after a burn to defeat these Pokemon. Some other Pokemon like Buzzwole (irrelevant mon) are also naturally bulky enough to live Golem's attacks and finish it off in return.

**Will-o-wisp users**: Will-o-Wisp from Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir or Mew can effectively render Golem ineffective, since Golem cannot deal enough damage after a burn to defeat these Pokemon.

It is also easy to counter (you didn't fix this, please rework this to something more meaningful like "it can be walled fairly easily by bulkier attackers"), as it does not hit particularly hit hard enough without an offensive boost, and fails to KO Taunt users like the Guardian Deities and Mew. 252 EVs in Attack coupled with an Adamant nature maximizes Golem's damage output. 252 Speed EVs lets it outspeed Pokemon like bulky Mega Tyranitar. The 4 leftover EVs are dumped into SpD which does not let Golem tank any attack relevant. If you run Rockium Z Golem, you can use 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def with 9 Speed IVs and a Brave Nature to let non-Magnet Rise Aegislash outspeed you so that Golem can attack Aegislash in its Blade forme (Move to other options). You may lose to Pokemon like Mega Tyranitar if Counter isn't run with the bulky Rockium Z spread however, since Earthquake+Sucker Punch fails to KO Mega Tyranitar, while Mega Tyranitar outspeeds and 2HKOs Golem with Earthquake. Groundium Z can be used to beat non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross, non-Magnet Rise Aegislash, and Sawk (You can beat sawk, it's a roll), while Rockium Z can be used to beat Pokemon like Heatran and bulky Fightinium Z Pheromosa (Irrelevant MU, talk about how it makes the Zard MU more consistent here. MOVE THE THINGS FROM MOVES INTO HERE ABOUT THE Z MOVES).

Usage Tips
========

Bring Golem against Steel-type Pokemon like Registeel and Mega Mawile if Groundium Z, or Pokemon like Air Balloon Heatran if you have Rockium Z. Against Magearna, use Bulldoze on the first turn followed by Earthquake and then Tectonic Rage on the second and third turns to successfully defeat Magearna (Move to the OO). If you have the unfavorable Z Move in a game against a physical attacker like say, Rockium Z Golem against Mega Metagross or Groundium Z Golem against Choice Scarf Landorus-T, use Counter immediately against them, since you tank any move they throw at you because of Sturdy, but beware that they can use this to their advantage as well by using a move which doesn't deal too much damage and then follow up with a move that KOes (Just say if you have counter use this, the Z move isn't relevant since gross could be mrise). If you suspect that a Pokemon is going to use Substitute, use its STAB moves to break the Substitute (Irrelevant). This avoids wasting your Z Move on the Substitute. Use Sucker Punch against Pokemon which are sure to use an attack on you, like bulky Genesect and Choice Band Garchomp if the Z-Move fails to KO the Pokemon. Avoid bringing Golem against Water- and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Fini, since they can tank any attack Golem throws at them due to their bulkiness and easily KO Golem. Avoid bringing it against Iron Defense and Charm users like Mega Slowbro and Umbreon (Not that relevant, maybe chansey instead?) as they can easily tank any hits Golem throws at it and proceed to render Golem unable to KO them after.

Grass-type Pokemon like Tapu Bulu and Mega Venusaur make good teammate for Golem. Stone Edge KOs Mega Charizard Y and Mega Charizard (The zard MU is a little more complex than this). Earthquake can be used to KO Grassium Z Heatran, and once it gets powered by Groundium Z into a Tectonic Rage, Golem can KO Pokemon like non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross and Mega Lopunny (Lop isn't as relevant since it's addressed later here, add something else that it beats). Sucker Punch allows Golem the potential to pick off any weakened Pokemon after Tectonic Rage or Continental Crush fails to OHKO, like Choice Band Garchomp and Heatran respectively. Protect can be used to negate the chip damage from Fake Out from Pokemon like Mega Lopunny or Mega Medicham and preserve Sturdy.

Set Details
========

252 EVs in Attack coupled with an Adamant nature maximizes Golem's damage output. 252 Speed EVs lets it outspeed Pokemon like bulky Mega Tyranitar. Groundium Z is used to beat non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross and non-Magnet Rise Aegislash. Sturdy, as its ability of choice, lets it live attacks like a Never Ending Nightmare from Aegislash and a Meteor Mash from Mega Metagross, which it otherwise would not.

Usage Tips
========

Bring Golem against Steel-type Pokemon like Registeel and Mega Mawile if Groundium Z. Use Sucker Punch against Pokemon which are sure to use an attack on you, like bulky Genesect or Meloetta if the Z-Move fails to KO the Pokemon. Avoid bringing Golem against Water- and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Fini, since they can tank any attack Golem throws at them due to their bulkiness and easily KO Golem. Against Fake Out users like Mega Lopunny, use Protect cautiously, since they can set a Substitute up while you use Protect. Avoid bringing it against Iron Defense and Charm users like Mega Slowbro and Chansey as they can easily tank any hits Golem throws at it and proceed to render Golem unable to KO them after.

Grass-type Pokemon like Tapu Bulu and Mega Venusaur make good teammates for Golem (Why tho). Specially bulky Tapu Bulu equipped with Taunt, in particular, stands out as a teammate, since it beats Mega Gyarados, Donphan, Mega Gardevoir, Primarina, Registeel, Zygarde-C, Mega Slowbro and Mew amongst others for Golem, with Golem beating Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Aegislash, non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross and Mega Mawile if Groundium Z, for Tapu Bulu I would go more archetypes, not specific pokemon. Also Bulu beats Aegislash lol. Mega Venusaur can also beat opposing Golem, Donphan, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria, with Golem beating Belly Drum Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona for Mega Venusaur. Pokemon like Porygon-Z and Nihilego make for great teammates, since special wallbreakers synergise well with Golem, as they can take on the Will-o-Wisp, Iron Defense and Charm users like Mew and Mega Venusaur that threaten Golem. • Grass-type Pokemon like Tapu Bulu and Mega Venusaur make good teammate for Golem. Taunt Tapu Bulu, in particular, stands out as a teammate, since it beats Mega Gyarados, Donphan, Serperior, Mega Gardevoir, Primarina, Registeel, Zygarde-C, Mega Slowbro and Mew amongst others for Golem, with Golem beating Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Aegislash, Pheromosa, Heatran, non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross, and Mega Mawile for Tapu Bulu. Mega Venusaur can also beat opposing Golem, Donphan, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria, with Golem beating Belly Drum Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona for Mega Venusaur.

Rock Tomb can be used for a more consistent Mega Charizard X and Volcarona matchup on Groundium Z Golem, but it makes you lose to more relevant matchups that Protect wins against, like Fake Out users, which are used more than than Volcarona while Sacrficing the more c. Smack Down can be used against Zapdos and Celesteela to make them take super effective damage from Tectonic Rage on the subsequent turns. Counter can be used to KO physical attackers which Golem's STAB moves might fail to KO, like Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Rock Blast is used to KO some frail Substitute users like Jumpluff by breaking their Substitute and KOing them in the same turn (Also volc MU). Bulldoze can also be run on the Groundium Z set to counter Magearna. Against Magearna, use Bulldoze on the first turn followed by Earthquake and then Tectonic Rage on the second and third turns to successfully defeat Magearna.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Sturdy breakers**: Mold Breaker Pokemon like Mega Gyarados and Magnet Rise Excadrill (Lol), Fake Out users such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham and Offensive Mew, and Skill Link Pokemon like Mega Heracross can bypass Sturdy and KO Golem.

**Physically bulky Pokemon**: Physically bulky Pokemon with recovery moves, like Mega Slowbro, Mega Altaria can also defeat Golem , since they can stop Golem in its tracks either by raising its own Defense stat with Iron Defense and Cotton Guard, or by lowering Golem's Attack stat with Charm. Some other Pokemon like Mega Scizor are also naturally bulky enough to live Golem's attacks and finish it off in return. Will-o-Wisp from Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir or Mew can effectively render Golem ineffective, since Golem cannot deal enough damage after a burn to defeat these Pokemon.
Since Golem doesn't have a way to boost up, I would just say stuff that can tank a hit from golem and 2HKO are good checks

[OVERVIEW]

Golem is a powerful Sturdy user in 1v1, an ability which lets it to live any one single attack discounting Mold Breaker users like Mega Gyarados. Edgequake is good coverage and, along with STAB bonus, lets Golem beat commonly used Pokemon like Mega Charizard X and Zeraora. It has the ability to viably utilize Z-Moves for both its STABs which, depending on the Z-Crystal, lets it beat non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross or Air Balloon Heatran. Its access to priority in Sucker Punch also gives it the potential to beat bulky Pokemon like Meloetta and Genesect that would otherwise live just a Z-Move. In addition to all this, it has access to moves like Rock Blast and Counter, which can help it get wins against Pokemon like Jumpluff and Choice Scarf Landorus-T respectively that would otherwise beat it. Unfortunately, it has a pitiful speed tier which lets it be outsped by the majority of the metagame. This leaves it vulnerable to faster bulky Pokemon like Serperior, Tapu Lele, and Mew. Another factor which severely affects its viability is the ubiquitous presence of Mold Breaker, Fake Out, and Skill Link Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Heracross which can bypass Sturdy. A combination of these facts makes Golem face competition for its niche from Donphan, another Sturdy user who has access to Ground STAB and priority. What sets it apart is that Golem gets STAB from Rock moves and has access to Dark-type priority, improving its odds with Meloetta and Genesect.

252 EVs in Attack coupled with an Adamant nature maximizes Golem's damage output. 252 Speed EVs lets it outspeed Pokemon like bulky Mega Tyranitar. Sturdy lets it live attacks like a Never Ending Nightmare from Aegislash and a Meteor Mash from Mega Metagross, which it otherwise would not.

Usage Tips

Bring Golem against Steel-type Pokemon like Registeel and Mega Mawile that Groundium-Z can KO. Stone Edge KOs OHKOes Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona. Earthquake gets powered up by Groundium Z into a Tectonic Rage, and which (you're referring to the z move, not eq) can OHKO Pokemon like non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross. Sucker Punch allows gives Golem the potential to pick off any weakened Pokemon after they have been damaged by Tectonic Rage (RC) like Choice Band Garchomp. Protect can be used to negate the chip damage from Fake Out from Pokemon like Mega Lopunny or and Mega Medicham and preserve Sturdy.

Groundium Z is used to beat non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross and non-Magnet Rise Aegislash. Sturdy lets it Golem live attacks like a Never-(AH)Ending Nightmare from Aegislash and a Meteor Mash from Mega Metagross (RC) which that it otherwise would not.

Usage Tips
========

Bring Golem against Steel-type Pokemon like Registeel and Mega Mawile that Groundium(RH)Z can OHKO. Use Sucker Punch against Pokemon which that are sure to use an attack on you against Golem (you = player, not the Pokemon), like bulky Genesect or Meloetta, (AC) if the Z-Move fails to OHKO the Pokemon. Avoid bringing Golem against Water- and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Fini, since they can tank any attack Golem throws at them due to their bulkiness (natural) bulk and easily KO Golem. Against Fake Out users like Mega Lopunny, use Protect cautiously, since they can set a Substitute up while you use Protect. Avoid bringing it Golem against faster Pokemon that can stall Golem it out and whittle away Golem's HP (unnecessary, this is implied by stalling it out), like Serperior, Whimsicott, Kee Berry Mew, and Deoxys-Speed Deoxys-S. Avoid bringing it against Iron Defense and Charm users like Mega Slowbro and Chansey, (AC) as they can easily tank any hits Golem throws at it them and proceed to (redundant with "afterwards") render Golem unable to KO them afterwards.

Team Options

Grass-type Pokemon like Tapu Bulu and Mega Venusaur make good teammates for Golem, since they can take on Water-type Water- and Ground-type Pokemon (RC) which that give Golem trouble. Specially bulky defensive Tapu Bulu equipped with Taunt (RC) in particular (RC) stands out as a teammate, since it beats bulkier threats that Golem cannot beat (RC) like Mega Gyarados, Donphan, Mega Gardevoir, Primarina, Registeel, Zygarde-C, Mega Slowbro, (AC) and Mew (do you need this many examples?) amongst others for Golem (redundant), with Golem beating while Golem beats Fire-type Fire- and Steel-type Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Aegislash, non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross, (AC) and Mega Mawile (RC) for Tapu Bulu. Mega Venusaur can also beat opposing opposing Golem, Donphan, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria, with Golem beating while Golem beats Belly Drum Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona for Mega Venusaur. Special wallbreakers like Porygon-Z and Nihilego synergize well with Golem (moved this here since otherwise i don't know who "they" is referring to) as they can take on the Will-O-Wisp, Iron Defense, (AC) and Charm users like Mew and Mega Venusaur that threaten Golem, special wallbreakers synergise well with Golem. So, Pokemon like Porygon-Z and Nihilego make for great teammates, (merged into last sentence) (remove double space) Since Golem is slow, some fast Pokemon like Pheromosa and Deoxys-Speed Deoxys-S can are useful partners to beat Pokemon like Whimsicott, Smeargle, (AC) and Vivillon who rely on facing slower opponents to win. Since Golem is a hard hitter, it should aim at using to use its most effective moves as soon as it can. Use Counter immediately against Mega Metagross and Mega Mawile, since you Golem can tank any move they throw at you it because of Sturdy, but beware that they can use this to their advantage as well by initially using a move which that doesn't deal too much damage and then following up with a move that KOes Golem. Use Sucker Punch against Pokemon which that are sure to use an attack on you Golem, like bulky Genesect and Choice Band Garchomp, (AC) if the Z-Move fails to OHKO the Pokemon them. Avoid bringing Golem against Water- and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Fini, since they can tank any attack Golem throws at them due to their bulkiness (natural) bulk and easily KO Golem.

Team Options

Golem can beat Choice Scarf Porygon-Z and Greninja, which allows while Mega Charizard Y to can pick up KOs on all of the slower variants (of what?); it Mega Charizard Y can also deal with most bulky Fairy-types like Magearna and Mega Gardevoir, and as well as Mega Venusaur. Fairium Z Magearna is an excellent complement to partner for Golem because it can deal with the biggest threats to Golem, namely Mega Gyarados, Dragonite, and Donphan (does magearna really beat donphan?), while Golem can consistently take care of Fire-type Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Heatran for Magearna.

Rock Tomb can be used on Groundium Z Golem for a more consistent Mega Charizard X and Volcarona matchup on Groundium Z Golem. Smack Down can be used on Groundium Z Golem against Zapdos and Celesteela to make them take super effective damage from Tectonic Rage on the subsequent turns. Rock Blast is can be used (on the Groundium Z set?) to KO some frail Substitute users like Jumpluff and Volcarona by breaking their Substitute and KOing them in the same turn. Bulldoze can also be run on the Groundium Z set to let Golem counter Magearna. Against Magearna, use Bulldoze on the first turn followed by Earthquake and then Tectonic Rage on the second and third turns Earthquake on the second turn and Tectonic Rage on the third turn to successfully defeat Magearna it (repetitive).

**Sturdy breakers Pokemon that Bypass Sturdy**: Mold Breaker Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Fake Out users such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, (AC) and Offensive offensive Mew, and Skill Link Pokemon like Mega Heracross can bypass Sturdy and KO Golem.

**Water-type Water- and Grass-type Pokemon**: Golem struggles against most Water-types Water- and Grass-types (RC) such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Bulu, since they are bulky enough to live Golem's attacks and defeat Golem with their super effective (RH) attacks.

**Physically Bulky Pokemon**: Since Golem doesn't have a way to boost its Attack, Pokemon that can tank a hit from Golem and 2HKO it back like Z-Reflect Tapu Lele and physically defensive Primarina are good checks to it. (AP)

**Sleep Abusers**: Sleep move users like Smeargle, Jumpluff, and Vivillon, (remove double comma) being faster than Golem, can put it to sleep and use their moves to successfully restrict prevent Golem from beating them.

[OVERVIEW]

Golem is a powerful Sturdy user in 1v1, an ability which lets it live any one single attack. (or change this to mention what specifically it lets it do, rather than restate the dex info) Its STAB EdgeQuake is has good coverage and, along with STAB bonus, lets Golem beat commonly used Pokemon like Mega Charizard X and Zeraora. It Golem also has the ability to viably utilize Z-Moves for both of its STAB attacks, (AC) which, depending on the Z-Crystal used, lets it beat (Pokemon like?) non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross or and Air Balloon Heatran. (remove double space) Its access to priority in Sucker Punch also gives it the potential to beat bulky Pokemon like Meloetta and Genesect that would otherwise live be able to take just a Z-Move. In addition to all this, it has access to moves like (are you missing "Rock Blast and"?) Counter, which can help it get wins against defeat Pokemon like Jumpluff and Choice Scarf Landorus-T, (AC) respectively, (AC) that would otherwise beat it. Unfortunately, it Golem's has a pitiful Speed tier which lets it be outsped by the majority of the metagame. This and leaves it vulnerable to faster bulky Pokemon like Serperior, Tapu Lele, and Mew. Another factor which that severely affects its viability is the ubiquitous presence ubiquity of Mold Breaker, Fake Out, and Skill Link Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Heracross, (AC) which can bypass Sturdy. A combination of these facts makes These downsides make Golem face competition for its niche from Donphan, another Sturdy user who that also has access to Ground-type STAB and priority.

Moves
========

Sucker Punch allows gives Golem the potential to pick off any weakened Pokemon after Tectonic Rage (RC) like Choice Band Garchomp. Protect can be used to negate the chip damage from Fake Out from Pokemon like Mega Lopunny or and Mega Medicham and preserve Sturdy.

Set Details
========

252 EVs in Attack coupled with an Adamant nature maximizes maximize Golem's damage output. 252 Speed EVs lets let it outspeed Pokemon like bulky Mega Tyranitar. Groundium Z is used to beat non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross and non-Magnet Rise Aegislash. Sturdy lets it Golem live survive attacks like a Never-(AH)Ending Nightmare from Aegislash and a Meteor Mash from Mega Metagross (RC) which that it otherwise would not.

Usage Tips
========

Bring Golem against Steel-type Pokemon like Registeel and Mega Mawile that Groundium(RH)Z can OHKO. Use Sucker Punch against Pokemon which that are sure to use an attack on you Golem (you = player, not the Pokemon), like bulky Genesect or and Meloetta, (AC) if the Z-Move fails to OHKO the Pokemon them. Avoid bringing Golem against Water- and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Fini, since they can tank any attack Golem throws at them due to their bulkiness (natural) bulk and easily KO Golem it. Avoid bringing it against Iron Defense and Charm users like Mega Slowbro and Chansey, (AC) as they can easily tank any hits Golem throws at it them and proceed to (redundant with "afterwards") (or delete afterwards instead ofc) render Golem unable to KO them afterwards.

Team Options
========

Grass-type Pokemon like Tapu Bulu and Mega Venusaur make good teammates for Golem, since they can take on Water-type Water- and Ground-type Pokemon (RC) which that give Golem trouble. Specially bulky defensive Tapu Bulu equipped with Taunt (RC) in particular (RC) stands out as a teammate, since it beats bulkier threats that Golem cannot beat (RC) like Mega Gyarados, Donphan, Mega Gardevoir, Primarina, Registeel, Zygarde-C, Mega Slowbro, (AC) and Mew (do you need this many examples?) amongst others for Golem (redundant), with Golem beating Fire-type Fire- and Steel-type Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Aegislash, non-Magnet Rise Mega Metagross, (AC) and Mega Mawile (RC) for Tapu Bulu. Mega Venusaur can also beat opposing opposing Golem, Donphan, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria, with Golem beating while Golem beats Belly Drum Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona for Mega Venusaur. Special wallbreakers like Porygon-Z and Nihilego synergize well with Golem, (AC) (moved this here since otherwise i don't know who "they" is referring to) as they can take on the Will-O-Wisp, Iron Defense, (AC) and Charm users like Mew and Mega Venusaur that threaten Golem it, special wallbreakers synergise well with Golem. So, Pokemon like Porygon-Z and Nihilego make for great teammates, (merged into last sentence) (remove double space) Since Golem is slow, some fast Pokemon like Pheromosa and Deoxys-Speed Deoxys-S can are useful partners to beat Pokemon like Whimsicott, Smeargle, (AC) and Vivillon, (AC) who which rely on facing slower opponents to win. In return, Golem can beat some bulkier bulky threats like Aegislash and Jirachi.

Stone Edge, when powered up by a Rockium Z, becomes a high power high-powered Continental Crush capable of OHKOing Pokemon like physical Flyinium Z Dragonite most of the time, and Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y and, most of the time, physical Flyinium Z Dragonite while also mitigating the inaccuracy mediocre accuracy of Stone Edge. Earthquake can be used to KO OHKOes (you would say "can be used" for a slashed option / one that's not on the main set) (meh idrc, it literally can be used to ko them) non-Magnet Rise Aegislash in its Blade forme (is this needed?) and Grassium Z Heatran and hits the Steel-(remove space)types that Stone Edge cannot. Sucker Punch gives Golem the potential to pick off any weakened Pokemon after that Continental Crush fails to OHKO (RC) like Air Balloon (same, this should be a suggestion not a change) Heatran. Counter can be used to OHKO physical attackers which that Golem's STAB moves cannot, like Mega Metagross and Mega Mawile.
