Status: Waiting for QC approval

[SET]
name: Support
move 1: Stealth Rock / Toxic
move 2: Knock Off / Taunt
move 3: Roost
move 4: Earthquake
item: Leftovers
nature: Impish
ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP, 88 Atk, 96 Def, 72 Speed

Why this set deserves to be on-site:
  • 75/125/75 defenses
  • immunties to Electric and Ground
  • resistances to Bug, Fighting and Poison
  • only 2 weaknesses
  • amazing synergy with Tentacruel on stall teams

Additional Comments:
  • Gliscor can set up Stealth Rock easily due to its bulk and resistances
  • Toxic is a great move, even when you have Toxic Spikes, due to the ability to hit Levitators and Fliers
  • Knock Off and Taunt both help out in a stall war
  • Knock Off helps against Choiced opponents
  • Taunt helps against stat-uppers
  • Roost is for obvious recovery
  • Earthquake is for STAB, if you're sure you don't need it, U-Turn is an option
  • You can run Toxic, Taunt or Knock Off over EQ. If you do, move 40 EVs to Defense, and 48 EVs to Sp.Def (from Attack)
  • 252 HP and 96 Def for bulk. You can move 80 EVs from Defense to SpDef if you want to take weak special hits.
  • 88 Atk to 2HKO Metagross with EQ, meaning you can 2HKO everything weak to it
  • 72 Speed to outspeed Max+ Tyranitar

Actually surprised that there isn't any Defensive Gliscor set onsite. A minor issue I have is the Speed Evs. Now that Gliscor is bulky, we have a much smaller portion of Pokemon in mind that we need to outspeed. With the current Spe Evs you tie with CM Jirachi so invest an additional 4 EVs to guarantee you outspeed it. I'll do some testing and see if certain moves aren't needed much. Other than that, hope this gets past QC because defensive Gliscor has always been quite common.

EDIT:

No need for Stealth Rock as your not functioning as a lead and you do not have the Speed to pull it off. Taunt should have a slot to itself as you can Taunt CM/Wish Jirachi and DD Tar as well as Blissey and other slow walls.

The only real difference here are the EVs and Knock Off. Toxic/Taunt is way more useful than Knock Off because it cripples the opposing team much more, which is why it's been delegated to an OO status. Stealth Rock is already mentioned in the Britscor set, so the only real change is the EVs. With an Impish nature, you lose to Lucario with Ice Punch/HP Ice, and since Gliscor's main role is to check Lucario nowadays, you lose that opportunity. Additionally, you can't outspeed/Speed tie opposing Gliscor/other mons, which means that you can't Taunt them. Opposing Gliscor can always Taunt you and then Toxic you to slowly cripple this variant.

Additionally, the 88 Atk EVs are already mentioned in AC of the Britscor set. You actually lose more utility by using Impish than by using Jolly.

I'm going to have to agree with Supermarth64 here, this set isn't much different from britscor and overall really isn't worth it. In addition to Lucario, a slower Gliscor is outsped by Heatran, Gyarados, Roserade, Dragonite among others. Sorry.

QC REJECTED 1/3

I recall I made an extensive QC test on the previous Defensive Gliscor that we had onsite a few months ago. We then decided to remove it and mention in OC the possibility of using a more defensive set with an Impish nature, just so people know it is a viable option. To be honest I don't see any reason to reverse this decision.

On a side note, I want to make a point regarding what you listed as "why this set deserves to be on-site":

  • 75/125/75 defenses
  • immunties to Electric and Ground
  • resistances to Bug, Fighting and Poison
  • only 2 weaknesses
  • amazing synergy with Tentacruel on stall teams

Pretty much what every Gliscor has -- immunity to Electric- and Ground-type moves... good synergy with Water-types... Nothing that makes him different from other sets. See what I mean? Instead of emphasizing on all of this, you should outline what makes this set unique, or say, usable. That's what really needs to be said.
