Gengar vs Weavile

There may be a chance this has already been said, but gengar with focus sash still struggles with weavile because alot of people in the Battle Tower loves focus sashing weavile. We all know that weavile will survive a focus blast (granted, if it hits) with focus sash, and being faster than gengar, killing gengar, focus sash or not. I haven't seen someone, other than myself carry a gengar with sucker punch just in case you have a problem with faster focus sasher such as weavile, or maybe an alakazam. gengar with a priority attack doesn't sound doable because of it's deplorable attack but it'll allow you to fire off your destiny bond to have a 2nd kill before you go down with the show

sucker punch
destiny bond

this set is to take care of speedy threats with focus sasher if you dont have a sandstormer, or a hailer on your team. should take 1/3 of your opponent's team out if played correctly
 
Shadow Sneak seems better. 20 less base power but always hits even if your opponent doesn't attack.
 
Thats true, Gengar doesn't get Sneak.

Anyway, a better Gengar in this variety seems to me Counter-Destiny Bond-Explosion-Hypnosis/Shadow Ball/Sucker Punch. With the Focus Sash, ofcourse. Makes for a funny starter. The one you listed seems to counter Weavile and not much else. No offense meant, but thats just the problem. Focus Blast missing a lot isn't what Gengar loves either.

I doubt that the one you listed will do a lot.
 
Yeh, I don't think there's too much of a point carrying Sucker Punch just for Weavile, but it is a decent option. You're still risking Ice Shard as well...
 
Does anyone use Sub/Punch Combo for taking on Weavile? I think Hypnosis would be better, because then they either have to switch to take the hit. Most will switch out.
