[Gen V] Team ABSOL. OU RMT.

TEAM ABSOL

Hello everyone. I'm still new to team building, but I figured I shoud try and make a team surrounding my favorite pokemon, Absol. After one SD, he can wreck a whole bunch of threats with his mighty sucker punch. He is very underrated. Anyways, I don't mind switching out pokemon, but there are a few things I would like you to keep in mind:

-I will not be using hidden power.
-I don't like to use legendaries regardless of tier.

-I will absolutely not switch out Absol.

The Team...

Swampertback.png

Jenkins (Swampert) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP / 216 Def / 52 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Boil Over

Swampert is a superb lead. Great defensive typing, access to stealth rock, STAB EQ. I usually set up rocks before I start attacking. Ice Beam is for grass switch-ins, Boil Over for Burn Hax, and EQ for STAB.

Nox (Absol) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Super Luck
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Psycho Cut
- Superpower
- Sucker Punch

My favorite pokemon. Once he gets one SD set up, he can 1HKO almost anything that doesn't resist him. Superpower and psycho cut are mainly for coverage, but I can't say I haven't used them. A surprising amount of people
do not expect absol to do any damage at all because of his speed and frail defenses, but given the opportunity, he can sweep entire teams.

BronzongBack.png

Fugly (Bronzong) @ Light Clay
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Atk / 8 Def / 96 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake

I hate hate hate Bronzong's design, but that doesn't stop him from being an awesome dual screener. Set up Reflect/Light Screen, then switch to something else. Gyro Ball for STAB, EQ to hit fire types.

Venusaurback.png

Waffles (Venusaur) (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 24 SAtk / 176 SDef / 56 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Leech Seed
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder

I needed a special tank, had chosen both a grass and fire type, so I figured why not complete the core with Venusaur. I already made a big deal over him in my last RMT. Sleep powder on the switch in, set up seeds, and Sludge Bomb the crap out of the opponent. I only have problems if I run into Nattorei.

dragoniteback.png

Kain (Dragonite) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch

Kain, The bulky DDer. I chose him to cover both Zong and Absol's weaknesses. Dragon Dance on something that he can resist, heal off the hits with roost, and proceed to wreck shit. Not much needs to be said about DD mence.

Ulgamothback.png

Blaze (Urugamosu) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Butterfly Dance
- Flame Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Psychic

I figured since I would have dual screens set up, why not put in Ulgamoth, one of my favorite set up sweepers. With access to butterfly dance, this thing is a monster. Flame Dance and Bug Buzz for STAB, and Psychic as a filler move, and also for those fighting types.

If you need me to add anything, please let me know.

Hey, not a full rate but in order to use DNite (which you need to be running Multi-Scale on to prevent half of all damage when at full HP - Roost helps this immensely) and Volcarona (English Ulgamoth name) to their full potential, you Absol-utely (lol) need a spinner to remove SR.

I'd replace Zong, seeing as he seems least useful for you. Perhaps try Forretress who has similar typing, can abuse Sturdy, Volt Change to get something a safe switchin, and Spike/T-Spike to your heart's content too. He can in a pinch put up a reflect if you so desire as well.

But if you ditch screens entirely (and even if not) consider using the bulky Volcarona set to shore up its Def. Essentially bold and 252Hp/252Def with the same moves is the way to go, with Lefties for recovery. I'd recommend Lefties anyway actually, since he will have more than enough power with a few BDs. Flame Dance<Fire Blast on a non bulky set too, you won't survive long enough to get many boosts with it. Also consider Flame Body to chance walling some threats with a Burn.

First of all, it might help to read the RMT guidelines, as I think you have some time yet before you can make another thread. In the meantime, I like your builds, so I will once again attempt to be of service.

First, if you're using Dream World, some of those abilities are better used here, specifiably Multi Scale on Dragonite.

Without a Spinner, I'm actually going to make an unusual suggestion and recommend switching out Bronzong for Espeon. You don't have a Spinner, so it will help with Hazards, though it is admittedly less bulky. However, it does open up a moveslot on Vulcarona for Bug Buzz.

Foretress is also a great suggestion, and if you go this route a better Fire member would be Chandelure. Flash Fire and Ghost typing cover Foretresses weaknesses perfectly.

With plenty of Special attackers, I'd reccomend a Physycal build on Venusaur. Earthquake might be a good choice over Sludge Bomb to hit Fire switch ins not carrying a Balloon, and Power Whip is a perfectly fine Grass STAB.

With so many set up moves, finding a place for Baton Pass has it's merits, the trouble is finding a place to put it on anything.

Swampert is sadly outclassed this generation, but if it works for you, there's no need to change anything yet.

I see plenty of well built individuals, but little for the team to abuse supporting each other.
