This is a Modern Generation 2 Tournament. This is NOT GSC OU. Think of it as Natdex played in Generation 2. There are several key mechanical differences (air balloon doesn't pop, choiced items don't work, etc.) so if you want to KNOW about the tier you are playing, I would highly suggest looking at the list of changes here.
MG2 Thread: link. This thread has sample teams, sample sets, calc import, banlist, VR, mechanic changes, everything that you need to know or are curious about. I made a more compiled version in anticipation of this tournament which is linked here. Yes, it is still long, but I would highly suggest reading the mechanics section to it. The rest you can pick up on. If you have any questions I would highly suggest either joining our discord linked here, or you can shoot me a DM on smogon. The discord is also a great place to look for practice/test games. This is $50 people!
Tournament Rules
- All general tournament rules and guidelines apply.
- This is a double elimination tournament! All players will play a minimum of two matches. Finals will be a Bo3 where losers bracket has to win two sets.
- Every round lasts at least 1 week.
- All matches are bo3 using the Pet Mods Dragon Heaven side server. You can find MG2 under "Modern Gen Series" in the builder.
- Replays of all tour games must be posted. See the spoiler below since it does not work the same as it does on main.
- I will try to time updates to get them pushed through between rounds. During this tour, I will announce updates at least 24 hours in advance before the update happens, to give players time to prepare accordingly in case an update happens.
- All pokemon have the same movesets as in National Dex formats. The banlist can be found here. (IMPORTANT. The MG2 validator on DH should work correctly. However, bringing illegal movesets or attempting to circumvent the validator (every banned move/clause/mon is explicitly mentioned in the MG2 thread) will result in a deadgame or loss. If you have any questions about a specific instance, I would highly suggest asking me or one of the other MG2 council members to avoid risking a forfeit.
