My GEN 6 competitive team is comprised of:
Physical Sweeper- Dragonite
Lead/Mixed Sweeper- Absol
Special Attackers/Sweepers- Gengar & Jolteon
Utility/Mixed Wall- Ferrothorn
Special Wall/Rapid Spinner- Tentacruel
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Sludge Bomb
- Destiny Bond
Gengar is my effective spin blocker also a great special sweeper. He can take any earthquakes aimed at Tentacruel and use that turn to take advantage thanks to his blistering speed. Destiny bond used as a fun tactic when Gengar is cornered. Especially useful against sucker punch users: Mawile and Kangaskhan. Shadow Ball as his powerful STAB. Focus Blast to handle pesky steel types like ferrothorn and also good against tyranitar. Sludge bomb for a nice counter to pesky fairies which Absol struggles with and annoy Dragonite. I originally had black sludge as an item but opted for life orb to get more damage seeing as gengar is quite frail.
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance
- Fire Blast
- Play Rough
Absol is a great lead and is effective when opponent has any hazard type of lead. Also a uncommon mega to use but very effective as the fastest magic bouncer in the game. Also has great help for Dragonite due to Stealth Rock weakening dragonite so easily. Swords Dance so that it can setup to begin sweeping. Sucker punch for needed priority to give it advantage against alakazam, mega gengar, etc. Fire blast to take care of grass, ice, and steel types. Play rough for dragons and fighting types. Can easily switch in to any psychic attacks aimed at Tentacruel. Absol is great as a sweeper because he can not be affected by status moves as long as he is mega evolved.
Item: Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Extreme speed
My star physical sweeper. A switch into an earthquake aimed at Tentacruel and free turn to DDance. Or any moves that it resists. Weakness policy to draw SE attacks while multiscale is active. And DDance on the first turn after the boost from weakness policy Dragonite becomes a real menace. Even if opponent trys to play around weakness policy it gives dragonite a better chance to live. Extreme speed for priority, dragon claw for powerful STAB. Earthquake to help round out it's coverage. D Claw for powerful STAB and coverage. Extreme speed to make sure it does not get revenge killed as easily.
Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spe
Bold Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Sludge Bomb / Toxic Spikes / Toxic
- Haze / Protect
Is my mixed wall, provides much needed to help out Fire attacks against Ferrothorn. He is also my rapid spinner to ensure Dragonite never has to worry about those pesky rocks. I prefer a spinner over a defog user as I like to setup rocks with Ferrothorn when possible. Clear body prevents speed drop from sticky web. Scald to ensure nothing sets up on him, mainly physical attackers due to the risk of being burned. Can use Sludge bomb for added coverage and protection against fairies. Also can use the protect/toxic duo to wear enemies down and protect can allow for extra recovery from black sludge. I effectively have all of his weaknesses covered. Dragonite can switch in on earthquakes, Absol can switch in against any psychic attacks, and lastly Jolteon can switch in on any electric attacks without consequence. It gives me a ton of options when battling.
name: Special Attacker
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Volt Switch
move 3: Shadow Ball
move 4: Hidden Power Ice
ability: Volt Absorb
item: Life Orb / Choice Specs
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid
Jolteon is my second special attacker, his main role is to switch into any electric attacks and pull off some damaging moves by utilizing its blistering speed. Thunderbolt for powerful STAB and coverage against water and flying types mainly, Azumarill, Togekiss, and Talonflame. Thanks to its high Speed and above average Special Attack, Jolteon is able to check a lot of prominent threats in the metagame, such as Talonflame, Greninja, Azumarill, Garchomp, and Togekiss. On top of that, Jolteon possesses enough Speed to outpace +1 Adamant Dragonite and Gyarados, both of which can be OHKOed by a coverage move after Stealth Rock. Volt Switch gives Jolteon much-needed momentum against common switch-ins like Tyranitar and Ferrothorn. Hidden Power Ice is essential in dealing with Gliscor and Garchomp, who otherwise completely wall Jolteon and OHKO back with Earthquake. It's also nice for Dragon-types like Salamence and Dragonite. Shadow Ball is useful for OHKOing Gengar after Stealth Rock and hits Aegislash pretty hard.
Relaxed
252 HP / 184 Def / 68 SpD
Leftovers
~ Stealth Rock
~ Leech Seed
~ Power Whip
~ Gyro Ball
Originally my team's greatest weakness was to bulky water type pokemon and I found Ferrothorn was the perfect solution to this. He provides great utility as a stealth rocker. On top of that he helps Absol against fairies with Gyro Ball. And Tentacruel comes to his aid when deadly fire attacks are launched at him. Gengar helps him out against fighting attacks. Leech seed is to wear down opponents who cannot put a large enough dent in him. Power Whip to hit bulky waters really hard. He is main objective is to annoy and wear down the enemy team where he can.
Please give me any advice you may have. Thank you!
