Garganacl is a very potent Pokemon in SV OU thanks to its stellar bulk, as well as Salt Cure and an amazing ability in Purifying Salt. Purifying Salt prevents Garganacl from being hit with any status moves while also providing it with a resistance to Ghost-type moves. This helps Garganacl stay on the field to rack up Curse boosts without fear of being whittled down by burn or poison. Earthquake allows Garganacl to beat Gholdengo, which otherwise walls it, whereas Body Press hits Kingambit hard. With Terastallization, Garganacl can shed its original Rock typing for a better defensive typing like Water to check Pokemon such as Garchomp and Great Tusk. However, Covert Cloak users like Amoonguss and Rotom-Wash can make Garganacl a liability, so pairing it with partners like Gholdengo and Dragapult helps in these matchups.

Purifying Salt prevents Garganacl from being hit with any status moves while also providing a resistance to Ghost-type moves. This helps Garganacl stay on the field to rack up Curse boosts without fear of being whittled by burn or poison; the Ghost-type resistance also allows it to be the premier switchin to Dragapult (It isn't really that great of a Pult switch-in, it takes too much from Draco Meteor. The Ghost resistance is more helpful against Gholdengo because, after you Tera, you resist both of its STAB moves). Salt Cure is Garganacl's main selling point, though, as it allows for it to chip the opponent every turn. (People know what Salt Cure does. Instead, I would explain why you run Earthquake (for Gholdengo) or Body Press (for Corviknight) With terastalization Garganacl can change shed its original typing of Rock for a better defensive typing like the Water-type to check Pokemon such as Garchomp and Great Tusk. However, Covert Cloak users like Gholdengo Amoonguss (the whole point of running Curse + EQ is that you do beat phys def cloak Gholdengo) and Rotom-Wash can make Garganacl a liability so pairing it with partners like Kingambit Gholdengo and Dragapult to help alleviate these issues is generally a good strategy.
