Hello everyone! I've recently began to grind ladder a lot more on showdown, and I usually use samples. However, teambuilding is one of my favorite parts about this game (even if I'm horrible at it), so I've been meaning to build a team of my own to play with. It's been pretty successful by my standards, taking me to 1600 ELO, but I'm always looking to improve. Without further ado, let's get into the team!

Paradise City (Garganacl) @ Leftovers
Ability: Purifying Salt
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Salt Cure
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
- Recover
Garganacl is the star of the team, and the mon I decided I wanted to build around, due to his ability to counter popular offensive threats like baxcalibur, dragapult, roaring moon, and dragonite, by using tera fairy. I settled on the iron defense/body press set, because I didn't really like the rocks set for the team, and the curse set wasn't as effective as I hoped. The EVs are mostly physically defensive because other members of the team can deal with special attackers, and I wanted to be able to come in on choice locked mons more effectively. The speed is to creep other garganacl, and some toxapex.

November Rain (Toxapex) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 248 HP / 224 SpA / 36 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf
- Acid Spray
- Sludge Bomb
- Infestation
Garganacl's partner in crime, toxapex, was an obvious addition to the team. He checks special attackers like gholdengo, iron moth, volcarona, and iron valiant, that usually give garg some trouble. I went with a standard av set because it synergized very well with garg defensively. The set is mostly standard, but I went with acid spray over ice beam or tera blast so I could 1v1 other pex a lot more effectively. I went with tera dark to better handle shadow ball spam from gholdengo, dragapult, and hisuian zoroark.

Estranged (Great Tusk) @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
Let's be real, tusk is mandatory on any team that is even remotely bulky. He has an amazing defensive profile, is incredibly consistent at removing hazards, and he checks the scariest sweeper in the tier, kingambit. The moveset and EVs for this guy are all completely standard, the only notable decision is tera water, which can be helpful in rain matchups.

Don’t cry (Hydreigon) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 88 HP / 252 SpA / 168 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dark Pulse
- Earth Power
- Nasty Plot
- Substitute
Next up we have hydreigon, one of my favorites on this team. I'm not really sure why I added hydreigon, I just wanted to try him out, but he has immense synergy with the rest of the team, as the main offensive sweeper. He can come in on passive mons and click substitute, and dish out massive damage. If you haven;t tried out hydreigon yet, I would recommend you give him a chance. I went with dark pulse and earth power for my 2 coverage moves; flash cannon and draco meteor are decent, but these two moves are the most well positioned in the current meta against things like non-unaware clodsire and toxapex. Tera steel lets it survive an attack that would usually kill, and hit back with dark pulse.

Patience (Gholdengo) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Make It Rain
- Shadow Ball
- Nasty Plot
- Trick
I needed a fast cleaner and a steel type, and gholdengo fit those roles perfectly. Anyone who played during x/y must remember the defensive synergy between hydreigon and aegislash, and gholdengo complements hydreigon just as well. They both overwhelm special walls with trick and sub np, while also being key defensive pieces of the team. Tera flying is for great tusk and the like, and for the final move, nasty plot is very useful after you've tricked, especially against stall.

Sweet Child (Iron Valiant) @ Choice Band
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spirit Break
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt
- Knock Off
Finally, iron valiant. I wanted a strong and fast physical breaker, and after trying kingambit, roaring moon, and baxcalibur, i settled on choice band iron valiant. Spirit break and close combat are pivotal stab moves, zen headbutt hits clodsire, pex, and amoongus, and knock off hits gholdengo and skeledirge, whole also being handy to remove opposing covert cloaks. I settled on tera fairy fairy, but tera psychic is also useful to increase the power of zen headbutt.
Threats:

It's hard to switch into flower trick, especially from band, so my advice is to tera garganacl early.

Once again, choice band sets are also hard to switch into, so you should tera garg early.
That's it! Thanks for reading this, and have a wonderful day!
