Hi im new to competetive battle and lately im trying to create my ever first team around my personal favorite core Gardevoir and Lucario. So pls help me complete my team.

Gardevoir @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Trace

- Mystical fire
One of main sweeper, she will deal with most fighting and dragon sweeper that threat the team.

Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Meteor Mash
The other sweeper, i use ice punch instead of extreme speed bcz i want to deal with ground type like Landorus-T

Orbeetle @ Light Clay
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Reflect

It will set up Sticky Web so that my sweeper will out speed most of other pokemon. Reflect and Light Screen to increase the survival.

Umbreon @ Heavy-Duty Boots

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Foul Play
- Wish
- Protect
- Baton Pass
i want it to run heal bell but in Pokemon SS, they dont allow it. So i switch to baton pass to be able to heal other Pokemon. And i will use it to deal with most of ghost pokemon

Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 48 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Flip Turn
- Haze
It will be switched in for fire pokemon, which i saw that many of my team weak to.

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Impish Nature
- Body Press
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Roost
Spikes set up and it bulky will help a lot.

Hello, and welcome to Smogon! Teambuilding can be a pretty expansive aspect of competitive Pokemon, and can be tough for beginners to learn, so congrats on putting together your first team for SS OU. However, there are some issues with the structure and sets of this team that are holding it back amongst the metagame, and will make it an uphill battle as you climb the OU ladder. I have a few resources that could help you get up to speed and become more familiar with the tier, so that you can have an easier time putting together teams that are more likely to be viable in the current landscape of the meta.

Getting Started

https://www.smogon.com/articles/getting-started

This is a very helpful article that I believe all new players should read over. It goes into detail about many intricacies of playing the game at a fundamental level that aren't necessarily intuitively learned. It should get you up to speed fast on topics like roles, playstyles, and team structure.

Viability Rankings

https://www.smogon.com/forums/threa...king-thread-see-post-1720-on-page-69.3674058/

This is the viability rankings list for SS OU. It's a list of common Pokemon in the meta, ranked by how overall dominant and effective they are in the tier at the time, compared to their drawbacks. Pokemon that are higher up on this list are generally considered very effective with little drawbacks, while the further down you go, the more drawbacks come with using the Pokemon. Generally, you should look to this list to understand which Pokemon are most relevant in the tier at the time, and what to prepare for as you build.

SS OU Sample Teams

https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/ss-ou-sample-teams-crown-tundra.3672556/

Here are a few sample teams you can try out made by knowledgeable players who are very familiar with the tier. Using these on the SS OU ladder for a while can give you an idea of how a relatively solid team in the tier should function and feel in practice. Be sure to only choose from the top post, as those teams are the only up to date and legal teams available on the sample thread as of right now.

Smogdex

https://www.smogon.com/dex/ss/pokemon/

The smogdex is where smogon analyses are written, where you can find viable sets to use for Pokemon while building. It's generally best to look here for sets when building teams, as they're optimized for the tier.

Other Comments

If I were to give a few quick suggestions on this team, I'd say swapping out Orbeetle for a better screen setter like Regieleki, which has immediate speed to get off screens uninhibited by Taunt or significant damage, or Alolan Ninetales for Aurora Veil, which offers some solid speed as well alongside the ability to boost both SpDef and Defense in the same turn. Either could immediately improve the team, as they make significantly better setters, and are generally the go-to. Additionally, I would not recommend running defensive Pokemon like Umbreon, Skarmory and Milotic on screens teams, as screens are most effective on Hyper Offense teams, which do not want defensive Pokemon sapping momentum and wasting precious screens turns. Instead, offensive wincons such as Dragon Dance Dragapult, Galarian Zapdos, or Volcarona all make great choices on such teams, because they provide immediate opportunities to set up and sweep, and appreciate the added bulk from screens increasing their suvivability to do so.

I hope you'll find these suggestions and resources helpful, and I hope you'll enjoy your time in the community. Have a good day!
