SS OU G-Slowbro OU Team

G-Slowbro Team 2.0

I've been messing around with this mon for a while, been trying to make a solid team with Galarian Slowbro, as it's one of the coolest mons to come out of gen 8 in my opinion. It's quick draw + quick claw gimmick has about a 40 something chance of making it move first, I believe. It's cool to pair with psychic terrain, to allow it to go first and ignore your opponent's priority moves, as well as boosting it's STAB psychic. I'll probably make another team implementing this in the future, maybe replacing scarf Zapdos-G with a scarf Tapu Lele, but this is what we're working with for now. Any and all feedback is much appreciated, have been using this team at about 1500 on the ladder with moderate success.
Offensive Core:
  • Garchomp@ Lum Berry
    Ability: Rough Skin
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Stone Edge/Fire Fang
    - Scale Shot
    - Swords Dance
    - Earthquake

Garchomp is one of the most threatening earthquake users in the tier right now, and it's set up capabilities along with access to stealth rocks make it a good addition to my team. Takes out walls and threats to G-Slowbro such as defensive and offensive Heatran, G-Slowking, Nidoking, and other mons. The Lum berry is primarily in place so it can set up against scald slowbro and hurricane Zapdos, and avoid burns and confusion. I typically do not run fire fang, but I could understand the motivation to do so to hit Corviknight for more damage.
  • Zapdos-Galar@ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Defiant
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Facade
    - U-turn
    - Brave Bird
    - Close Combat

Zapdos is a great scarfed mon, despite it's most common use as a choice band user. It catches people who mindlessly lead landorus-t every game off guard, and can secure a kill fairly easily with a +1 brave bird or close combat, if anticipating a switch. Easy to switch in on a defog as well for a +2 boost to attack with no drawbacks. Facade on this mon allows you to attack even if you anticipate a switch to Zapdos or Moltres, just giving you a 140 base power move that hits mons that might resist flying or fighting moves at neutral, although this is definitely situational.
  • Slowbro-Galar@ Quick Claw
    Ability: Quick Draw
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
    Quiet Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
    - Nasty Plot
    - Psychic
    - Shell Side Arm
    - Flamethrower

Finally, to round out the offensive core we have the mon that I chose to build this team around, Galarian-Slowbro. This mon is admittedly pretty vulnerable with max investments into special attack, and use of this pokemon is mostly luck based, and reliant upon quick claw activation. One alternative use would be in trick room, using regenerator and black sludge, life orb, or choice specs rather than the quick draw/quick claw combination shown here, but honestly I feel like trick room is pretty boring to use with this mon in particular at least, and I've had a lot more fun trying to get it to work with the set above. Slowbro can pretty easily switch in on mons like Toxapex and Ferrothorn, hopefully without getting knocked off, and set up a nasty plot or just start attacking. The unpredictability of quick draw is very useful in surprising faster mons that could knock this out with an earthquake, knock off, or other move, and quick draw and quick claw are unaffected by psychic terrain, meaning this mon can be used along with or against Tapu Lele. This mon, as mentioned before, is hard walled by Heatran with this set, however you could chose to run hydro pump or surf over one of it's other moves to catch Heatran by surprise. Defensive Landorus has a 6.3 chance of being ohko'd by a +2 psychic, but after a nasty plot, both specially defensive Ferrothorn and Pex get ohko'd by flamethrower or psychic. Tapu Fini also gets knocked out after a nasty plot + side shell arm, but corviknight has about a 53% chance of being ohko'd after a nasty plot with 88 in spdef. Protect Melmetal has about a 50% chance to be ohko 'd at base, and assault vest cannot knock it out and is 2hko'd.

Edit: In Terrain, you can also run expanding force over psychic
Defensive Core:
  • Mamoswine@ Assault Vest
    Ability: Thick Fat
    EVs: 112 HP / 216 Atk / 16 Def / 64 SpD / 100 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Icicle Crash
    - Earthquake
    - Ice Shard
    - Rock Tomb

Assault Vest Mamoswine combined with the thick fat ability makes it a reliable switch in to non-focus blast Kyurem, and ice shard can potentially ohko scarf landorus-t, while an icicle crash will easily ohko the typical defensive/rocks lando-t. It can switch into up to 3 magma storms from spdef heatran, provided rocks are not up on your side of the field, and easily kill it with earthquake, despite having a very low chance the heatran stays in. Rock tomb is a great move for anticipating switches, as if they switch to a flying type expecting an earthquake you can usually outspeed them after if they're not already knocked out. Mamoswine takes hits pretty well, and with 385 attack, hits pretty hard too.
  • Corviknight@ Rocky Helmet
    Ability: Pressure
    EVs: 232 HP / 4 Atk / 216 Def / 56 SpD
    Impish Nature
    - Brave Bird/U-Turn
    - Defog
    - Body Press/U-Turn
    - Roost

Corviknight, as well as providing hazard removal, provides the always much appreciated earthquake immunity in this tier. With Landorus-T being at the top of viability rankings consistently, it's always nice to have a flying type that also takes stone edge at neutral. Earthquake is one of the biggest threats to Slowbro-G, and it's always nice to have an answer to it. I considered running a Rillaboom+Hawlucha to add to the offensive core and also provide hazard removal, but decided against it, honestly can't remember why. Still a great mon, good defogger. U-turn with a minus speed nature is usually my preferred choice, as it's basically teleport but less consistent in it's going last. Against faster mons that it switches into it's a nice way to get one of your offensive mons in for free.
  • Tapu Fini@ Leftovers
    Ability: Misty Surge
    EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 Spe
    Bold Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk
    - Draining Kiss
    - Calm Mind
    - Taunt
    - Surf

I said this was the defensive core, but Tapu Fini is such a good set up mon as well. In addition to terrain making it immune to status while calm minding up, it can taunt mons like Toxapex who would haze on it, and I honestly haven't seen too many clear smog gastrodon or amoongus recently, but both of those are taken care of by the rest of the team. Tapu Fini is one of the best mons on this team in terms of utility, with it's ability to take hits, regen itself, and dish out damage to other mons.
